Lunamoon, I live in the US (Louisiana) so it would be a far reach for me just to get a "handle" on your problem(s). I believe the post I read concerning this was on the 13th fret website, so check there. (I'll check too) Not sure as to how far I could help you without actually "seeing" your problem but I will be giving them a lotta thought. As to the problem with the cutouts, the boobs and a whole lotta repeated low base note I would imagine it could cause a shortness of breath or maybe your toes to curl up. (maybe both) Anyway, just "hang in there" and let me think some more about your problems.

Lunamoon, please read the post I made under "Injuries" concerning your "Boobs". I read that prior to this post and I have offered my services to help you with your "Boobs". Now don't get me wrong as I am only making this offer due to my affection for "Boobs". If I can be of any help, in getting you to too where you are able to play guitar in a "Perky" manner, it will put a smile on my face.

Old Doll, when you look at the shape of an acoustic guitar you see a "hour glass" shape. Have you ever tried holding your guitar vertically, placing your "Ladybumps", one on each side at the narrowest point, then rotating the guitar to a horizontial position. This would place one of your "Pillows" on top and one the bottom of your guitar. The mental image of this I have looks like it just might work and it could eliminite the need of a strap. I sure hope this post doesn't "rub you" the wrong way but I am just trying to help.

Not trying to be a smarta** or anything but I would like to help you with your boobs. I have been an admirer of boobs all my life and like them in all shapes and sizes. Just the other day I was reading some posts - either on the Acoustic Guitar Forum or the 13th fret when I came across a post with kinda the same problem. It seems as though there are some custom guitar builders out there who actually make guitars with "cutouts" in the back of their guitars just for boobs. Nice, huh? Don't know how someone would get "fitted" for this or just how the measurement would be taken but it could be worth a shot. If you need help in taking the measurements you can contact me by making a post here and I'll help. One thing the post did mention, though, was that it was not recommended to play a lotta low base notes as it could lead to other problems. These problems were not described so I guess a little research is in order.................................

Sounds to me like this would be a good time to practice open chord fingering without the Index finger:
Form a open E chord using your middle, ring and pinky fingers. Now you are on your way to playing barre chords.
Form a open G chord using your middle, ring and pinky fingers. See how easy this leads to a open C chord or a G7 chord or a D7 chord.
Practice making an open A chord by only using your ring finger as a barre. Now move the ring finger dawn 2 frets place your index finger on the 2nd fret in a barre position, You now have a double barre B chord.
Lots of ways to not have to use the tip of your index finger.

You can either take my word on the spam-jo or not. The one we have just happens to be made using a spam can. They are made from all types of cans or boxes. I guess it could be called anything related to the type of can used as a "sound chamber". There was even a fiddle made from a cigar box.

I kinda have the same problem. I play rythem guitar with a lotta open chords (some barre chords thrown in when I can) so I tend to develope calouses on my finger tips. I keep them "filed" by using a finger nail file and that seems to help. Over time the calouse on my index finger will get extremly hard (and sore) and as I file it down you can see the outline of it. After filing it down to a certian point and with a help this "kernel" will sorta "pop" out leaving a hole (depression) in my finger tip (and the pain goes away. Does any one else have this problem?

If Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Hank Snow, Hank Williams and many others were to come along today they would never make it just on their singing ability. They could all "carry a tune" but they did not have the best of voices. Look back at some of the "GREATS" and I think you will agree. Janis Joplin didn't have a good singing voice BUT she had a unique sound. The same can be said for a lotta people. Just wish I could get up and sing.

The one we have was made from an empty "spam" can that was painted, attached to a homemade neck with frets, one tuner and a single "G" string. They can be made from many different types of cans or boxes. Since ours were made using a spam can as a sound chamber - 'SPAM-JO". It can be tuned and played but due to it having only 1 string the "key" is limited. I have not tried using a capo but who knows. By attaching a cheap acoustic tuner (battery powered) with a suction cup and connecting it a guitar amp - "ELECTRIC SPAM-JO". This is NOT a tall tale - it's a fact!

As you practice think of the chord progression of a song:
Key of "G". The major chords would be - G....C.....D
Key of "A". The major chords would be - A....D......E
Key of "C". The major chords would be - C....F......G (may want to wait awhile of this'un)
Key of "D". The major chords would be - D....G......A
Key of "E". The major chords would be - E.....A......B (may want to wait awhile on this'un, too)
The major chords of "B" and "F" are hard on beginners but need to be practiced. The easy progressions would be in the keys of "G", "A" and "D". Just by learning these chords in their progressions you would be developing "muscle memory" and "hand strength". I would pick out a easy song or 2 to learn or just practice movement between the chords. You will not learn overnight so take your time, pay attention to detail and you will retain more.

I have a AC 60 Roland Acoustic Amp and the only time I have any feedback issues is when I am standing too close while holding my guitar. If a stand 5' to 4' away I have no problems but when I get closure than that (making adjustments without turning volumn down) I will get feedback. I've read some interesting reports about the "sound hole plugs" and I do plan on getting one in the near future. There are even plugs that are made of wood to match the finish of several wood finishes.

Does anyone play or even seen a "SPAM-JO? They are out there as my wife has one. It is nothing more than a "SPAM" can that has been painted, attached to a 1" neck, 12 frets added, 1 tuner and 1 string. This instrument can be played and I have even been able to attach an tuner to it and run it through my guitar amp - Electric SPAM-JO! My wife can play I'll Fly Away and Amazing Grace on it. A real novelity item.

The "F" and "B7" chords are not the bad boys. Now you take a "B" chord or any of the "A" shaped barre chords - they'll get you cussing real easy. BUT the "A" shaped barre chords play so good off an "E" shaped barre chord in a 1....4....5 progerssion that they are worth practice.

Believe it or not - ole time musicans would take all their strings off, roll them up neatly then placed them in a pot of boiling water. After boiling the strings they were allowed to dry then put back on their guitar.

Are you able to tap yore foot in time with the music? If so then you are strumming. Just place a pick between yore toe's, bend way over and get started playing. Seriously, strumming is just a matter of keeping time with the music. Listen and you can hear a "beat to the song;
1...2....3....4.....1 or
1...2....&....3.....&.....4.....&....1 or
some other similar pattern.
Use your ears to listen, count in your head to the "beat" and the strum pattern will come to you.
Now PRACTICE!!!!!!
1 = down strum
& = up strum

Born June 27, 1951. I'M 24 YEARS OLD. Still got most of my teeth. Don't have to do a low part and a comb - over. Will chase after a good looking girl - just not very far or too long. If I catch her I don't need a little blue pill ( very often). Not old enough to want the black nylon socks and the berumda shorts pulled up to my armpits. Started playing guitar, with purpose, about 2 1/2 years ago.

TIM0473, do you have the bass run tabed out for "Star's on the Water? If so would you please share them with me? Thanks,

I have a Peavey PA-120 amp head to go with my 4/12 speaker cabinet (200) watts). The amp head has a master channel and 4 auxillary channels that can all be used. While I get a better sound with this set up than I do with my regular electric amp when playing acoustic it still does not sound as good as my Roland AC-60 acoustic amp. I would still recommend a acoustic or key board amp over playing thru the amp head and cabinets. We have a regular group that play's music twice a month and when I get to set in I always miss the sound I get from my acoustic amp when I play thru their sound system (I'm usually the only one playing a electric / acoustic) But that's just me.

I have a Takamine A/E that I play thru a Roland (Acoustic) AC-60 amp. This is a small sized amp with a HUGE sound. List price i about $499.00 but can be found cheaper with a little shopping around. Usually around $399.00 street. This amp has 2 30 amp speakers with chorus and a whole lotta other speakers. This is one great amp and I would recommend it to anyone. Just do a search for Roland amps and "read all about it". Roland has just came out with a new amp, AC-90, that has 2 45 amp speakers for an even bigger sound. A acoustic amp is the only way to go if you want a true sound from your acoustic guitar. Several good one's out there, go to a good music store and try several out and buy the one that suits you the best.

What is going on with this post? Russell say's he can't get it up. Guitarpix say's "hit the refresh button". Then G S E starts typing about Viagra and ZURF say's "I had a girfriend who used to...............". Kinda strange.

My problem with the "B" chord (or any "A" shaped barre) is once I make tha chord I cannot get back to the next chord quickly. I don't have any problem in making the chord or getting it to sound right it just getting to nthe next dhord in the progression. So - I kinda / sorta cheat and use a "B7" any place that has a "B" chord.
Nela
Find you a good slow song where you can use barre chords and play along. A good song for me is "My Last Date" as sung by Skeeter Davis. It's 3/4 timing and the chords are "C" ... F ... G....
