You were right in your assessment about it meaning different things to different people, and I said as much in my SoundCloud comments, my friend. To describe it a bit clearer (sometimes my words work; sometimes they don't): It's like looking at a painting head on, but something's telling you that you're missing seeing something important and if you move maybe 4 feet to the left, there it will be.

That's the way I feel about "Moments": You see what you need or want to see, but it's up to you to make that scene appear. Wonderfully done, Jim

My Rogue Beatle bass came in a gig bag and I just never got around to  getting a hard-shell case before selling it, but here was my trouble with the bag: if you didn't place the guitar "just right" it can be a real pain getting it in and out. Add a few accessories and you get the picture. My Galveston accoustic/electric was a real challenge though I did find some custom-built cases while home on vacation (Germany) which would have fit.

Good luck, maurguy, and welcome!

Having a bit of difficulty sleeping tonight and I know it's been quite a while since I checked in with my family, so if we're all still on "good terms" let me try to catch up a little.......

As far as health goes, it's as if "She Who Must Be Obeyed"  (Dondra of course) and I have changed places and it is me who is getting sick. I have now had two bouts of pneumonia and I'm just getting over the latter one.

Some of you I see on FB, of course, Scott, Amy and Jim  as well as Roger and menagerie just to mention a few, and I like keeping up with you that way. All of you are so very proud of your families (two- as well as the 4 footed ones) and I enjoy seeing the photographs.

I believe I may have mentioned my attempt at starting a small home business and that's still in the works if I can stay well enough long enough.

I'm looking forward to reading and listening to my talented brothers and sisters, so let me get started and see what you all have created since last we spoke.....

Thanks, everyone! "She Who Must Be Obeyed" wants me to be sure you all know that you are loved by the both of us, whom we consider our family. As soon as I get my time reconstructed,  we will be back on a much better scale.

We send our love!

Hey Everyone

To supplement our income a little, I'm going to try a little  home business and see if and how it works out. I will keep tabs on everyone and listen and watch on SoundCloud and YouTube as much as I can and will check in here when time permits.

Just an FYI for you. Love you guys and ladies and bye for now.

"It's life, Jim, but not as we know it", is what popped into my head when I saw your song title, Phill.  It's from an episode of one of the old Star Trek series and the quote is attributed to Spock.  Here is the quote used in a song by The Firm: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCARADb9asE....... You probably didn't listen to it all the way through, did you my friend? smile

I too am looking forward to hearing it and agree it sounds "Floyd-ish" - very "deep" - especially the part where you sing "If you're not here, does the sun shine anyway?".

May I suggest a collaboration between you and Arkady.

Thanks for sharing  this and when you get it all produced and engineered,  I'm going to feel about this one as I have all the others.

About 5 years ago at Christmas, my Grandso got a "Shorter-Configured Epi Les Paul with a 15 watt amp and a built in Metronome. I told him it was his to do with as he pleased -- it was a gift, after all -- , but henceforth, if he asked for a particular brand, that I would take it as  an indication he was now seriously pursuing all that goes along with learning to play and that we would "progress" with the looks and electronics as well as the training.

This got me to thinking: What about my guitars and drums and  stands and stuff?

I have already made my brother the executor of said Will and Codicil, so I plan to ask him to either donate the instruments to some deserving young person or, if my brother agreed,  they could be sold and the proceeds be used toward the purchases of something this young person really wanted.

How does this sound you, my family, and have you ever been in a similar situation?

Also, the rest of my family will not be ignored. wink

Thanks

Bill

I love that Ovation up there,  UJB and it's sure enough pretty, but I have to agree with the majority: if you wanna be cool onstage with it, that's fine for us guys who are musicians, but to "Mr. John Q Public", it's just another guitar. "It's made out of what?, asks Ol' Mr. John.... "Carbon"??? Well, aren't we made out of that, Dear?", says John to his wife.

And by the way, have you seen that thing Willie Nelson plays?

Give me a $300.00 accoustic/electric any day, says I. smile

Very nice introductory post,  flyerphil! Once can see right away you have more than just a nodding acquaintance with the  guitar and I agree: John was a great poet and singer.

Echoing my friend Doug's words of welcome, come back often and teach us something!

Belated Happy Birthday, UncleJoesBand!

Bill and Dondra

Hey Friends

And I'm sorry to be so late with my comments (which I posted on YouTube), but I have to say that each year there seem to be more and more Chordians and the music just gets better and better. Great choices this year and I was glad to see some new faces, singers and players. TWELVE hours travel time????  And here I am complaining that I wish I could make it! ALL of you performed above and BEYOND and I am glad to be a small part of such a wonderful group of singers and players.

Again, please excuse my tardiness and I'm working to catch up --- not only here, but more on YT and SoundCloud. I haven't forgotten my friends and family.

Your Friends

I thought the Takimine F312 was a steel string guitar.  In his original post mr_guitar_man was talking about Nylon String Guitars.

I have played a Takimine C132S and for it just seemed off. The fret spacing was different and not as high as others.  When I played it was at a local music store so the setup should have been right.

I don't really know I bought it at a garage sale for twenty dollars and it sounds good with both kinds of strings.

I think it's about time we heard from our friend dino48 with whatever strings he's got.

Dino, you are one of the most LOVED of all of us! Take a bow and play one for us! Please!

I wouldn't want to be in a bar with the winning (or losing) team's  questioning a referee's ruling.

Unless I didn't need my neck anymore. ("And SNAP! You have a scrum!}

Only saying, having seen some of those guys before and not knowing what a "scrum" is and all.....
