Thanks, Doug, sorry to read you got big troubles.
I pray you overcome.
I'm gonna try some Advil before tomorrows gig.
Topdown, I will try to get a vid made before I get fired.
Mekidsmom, thank you and bless you for being so sympatico. I am thinking about a story song.
Bensonp, I love the wonderful atitude of the owner and all the employees there. They were voted the best burger in the county. The food is fried but top quality. Beer is served in icy mugs.
The men's room is immaculate. I appreciate good folks who are willing to work to be the best and I am working to be worthy of them.

A group of us from the U.S.A had the good fortune to sail around the Isle of Mull. We chartered boats from a fine agency in Oban.
The head Scotsman had never heard this song:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZ35SOU9HTM

He knows it now.
After a hard afternoon squall I got a photo of a spectacular sunset with Mull in the backround.
Such a pretty picture it is the cover artwork on my "Signature tunes" C.D.

Some players go to great lengths to get the sound just right and the accompanying music to just the right pitch to make the vocal range fit perfectly.
This man tuned his guitar to an open F# to sing this song comfortably.

Hi guys,
Had a great Saturday crowd. Got to do a little light comedy towards the end of the evening.
A problem: I wake up this morning and the left hand index finger is sore and stiff at the second knuckle. This happened before when I played a lot.
I could force the finger to bend and could play a gig with little pain but the next morning, the knuckle was even stiffer. The left index is the one we have to bend double to press second string first fret to make the C in a C chord.
If you can't play C chord you can't play guitar .
Any of you guys have to deal with digital arthritis?
When I was younger a wider guitar strap helped a lot by distributing the guitar's weight better over all those blood vessels at the top of the shoulder.
I use a wide strap. I hate to sit down and pick because I can never jump up and down. I like to jump - even at my age.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Intro is C#m, Abm, F#m
First verse goes C#m  To F#m
Watch for Abm to Ab (major)
Then it goes either C#m,Abm,F#m
or
C#m, F#m

A wonderful video:
http://vimeo.com/2534639
This is a four chord song titled "Stand By Me'.
Around here we call the chord progression ( C,AM, F and G) the "Blue Moon" turnaround [From the song "Blue Moon" (You saw me standing alone). The progression may be easier in Mekidsmom's suggested (G, Em, C and D).
This video has American street musicians playing "Stand By Me" in the key of C. He records this and then travels to many other nations, slipping a headset of the first recordings on a local musician and having him or her or them, play and sing along to what's recorded. He then records the total of all that and is on to the next country and local picker(s).
There are many songs written using this progression making it great for any jam session.

Hi Pete,
You support so many of us in our pursuits. I would like to support you in this one of yours. You have been around long enough to know what you need and can use.
Scratch that itch, friend. It is sometimes better to ask forgiveness instead of permission.

Stopped in at The Fish River Grill to get a couple of catfish plates to go and met the owner who used to cut my hair.
She told me she wanted to make her place a music venue and asked me if I was still gigging. I told her I played out occasionally with my grandson, Casey, but mostly was living the quiet life of a retiree.
She told me she had a guy to play Thursday throught Saturday and asked me if I would play Monday through Wednesday. I came in to hear her weekend guy and found him to be competent and most pleasant but VERY country music oriented. The crowd is locals and quiet country ballads go over well there because the crowd is there to eat - not drink very much.
I played Monday and Tuesday and she announced that her weekend guy had a day job that was too demanding and she wanted me to go six nights.
My accent is not of the country but I can get away with citified country songs like Charlie Rich or maybe George Strait.I'm kinda old for this but the money is life-changing and I am going to hang in as long as I can.
Had Casey in to play Wednesday. They tip me ones but they tip him fivers.
Here it is Friday and I haven't been fired yet.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Volume and talent can work wonders.

Agreed! I much prefer to get it done without excess volume.
Played a large convention room at a Gulf Shores hotel where 300 parrotheads were seated.
We used two 300 watt J.B.L. EON speakers for harmonica, guitar and vocals and two more EONs just for my tuba. We were not excessively loud but that much power gave us a presence that most adequately filled that big room.

The lady is your fiance. She loves you already. This should bowl her over.
Nice solid rhythm. Thoughtful presentation.
Keep up the good work.

Dear Ms. Amy,
That was lovely. A truly fetching performance of a beautiful song. When you "hubster" sees that it will definitely tug at his heartstrings.
I'd like to know what your dad thought as well.
I'm a fan.

My grandson Casey, instructed me until I came up with the guitar line he had in mind.
He then wrote, performed and recorded this origonal song:

A poem by someone who has walked the walk.
My dad beat alcolhol He is one of the few. He had D.T.'s for months after he quit. he was an ex-cop turned party boy. The rest of his life there was a sadness about him while he quietly endured dealing with the devil, sober.
There was no A.A. in our little town so he started one. He would work a 14 hour day at his own business then sit up far into the night talking and pouring sweet coffee down some poor guy who was afraid he might take that one fatal drink.
Gotta respect that.

I tried to switch from right-handed to left.
Holy cow, it was like starting over from day 1.
I figured fretting with my right hand would enable me to play faster. I got discouraged and decided to stay a righty and play rhythm.
I read that Southpaw 41L managed to achieve this. Gotta respect a herculean effort.
Would appreciate more insight on this.

As an older guy I wish to simplify my guitar collection. I gave away my Yamaha 12 string because I seldom used it and my friend needed one.
I am left with a Yamaha FG 350W acoustic and my Gibson 330 for electric and a Martin Backpacker for a travel guitar.
