I haven't shopped much but I love sperzels enough to install them on all my guitars, as soon as I have a few hundred spare bucks.

They are a godsend for on stage string breaks.

I had similar issues with a trem of mine which is why I brought the nut thing up, and that fella had no pinging. Anywho, you might consider sperzels instead of a locking nut. I'm a big fan.

Graphite in nut? re-file nut to prevent string sticking?

Locking tuners?

Where's this google feed?

LMK Jeff. I might not be at my computer so if you still have my cell please throw me a text when it's on. Ella and I will come on and do a couple of duets for y'all. smile

Yay! Wish I could be there. Is there going to be a Skype session for those of us who couldn't make it?

Hey thanks everyone.   I was a bit slow on the uptake here....haven't been to Chordie much the last couple of days.  Taking a week off to help the Mom out so I haven't been online much.

The new baby set list went great.  Ella seems to have great taste in music. smile

I'm very happy to tell all my friends at Chordie that little Ella was born on Thursday. Everyone is happy and healthy. Dad's guitar seems to have a calming effect already. smile

Pics available at ella lilly dot com if you'd like to check them out. wink

Doug if string tension is the issue would a drop tuning help?

I don't play a lot of nylon but know that fret hand pressure is critical.

Yup. Just need to power through it. smile

I agree with #1 and disagree with #2.

Lots of very famous singers suck at singing from the technique standpoint. But they make it work for them, so rather than their limitations equating to "sucking" we call it "hip." It's just idiosyncratic, really. I'm thinking Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen.

On the other hand, anyone can make pitch perfect music and still sound like garbage. Musicality is not the same thing as having a good sense of pitch. Examples:
- Justin Beiber is a crap box musician. (Man I hope Google indexes this for "Justin Beiber")
- I also (personally) am not a huge fan of Yngwie. Plays lots of notes and plays 'em perfect and fast, but setting a metronome to 987 BPM and shredding it out in melodic minor does not a musician make, in my humble opinion.

My gf and I are having a baby a week from today! We are going to name her Ella.

I would like for Ella's first hour of life (or at least first hour with me) to be very musical and want to put together a playlist for her. I'm going to record some stuff for her this weekend but would also like some amazing music suggestions from the likes of you. With no offense to our resident Metalizer, I will not be playing anything louder than some New Orleans funk. I'm thinking mostly singer songwriter-type stuff with great lyrics from any generation.

Your thoughts are appreciated!

i use iMovie but I don't do anything super hard core with it. But if you're a Mac guy it's a good cheap option.

I work with some film makers. They are all in to Premiere Pro.

My bassist prohibits me from doing this.

Doug you are spot on! I'm spending the time putting together baby furniture, bonding with the 8 year old and playing guitar as time allows.

Next year if there are members heading to 7's I'll open up the Lilly pad (my boat) for a jam day. smile
