My friend Phill! See too little of you these days, and I am always afraid I might miss one of your hits!  Please don't DEPRIVE us, and if I did miss one, and/or a comment, please let me know, Sir.

And yeah, I was always the guy who showed up first (usually at 4 pm) to set up and test my drums against the room's acoustics.

I wish I could say more about the times I got to trade off with the rhythm guitarist, but I don't have that tape anymore. The song I played on was this one, if it matters......

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwZNL7QVJjE

Yeah, it was a "silent"  rhythm and no strings, but it worked.

Okay, I'll add another one..... with an explanation: The town where Dondra and I reside is called Carrollton and is located in Carroll County. This one is played and sung by the late Porter Wagoner whose singing partner was Dolly Parton (yes. "that" Dolly). She's not on this one, but it's a "story song". See how you like it..... It's called "The Carroll County Accident."

While watching/listening you may want to pay attention to the banjo player who is playing the intro lead. I had never seen or heard this done before. Sounds just like a guitar to me.....

"Dream Songs" (and there are so many) are always ones that reveal a lot about the person writing them, Jim. I have those kinds of dreams many times, and I am wondering if the same is true for you? Did you dream this one?

If I have a dream such as pretty dream song, I try to wake up and write it down by a pad I keep on my night stand. Sometimes they make sense when I finally am wide awake and sometimes they're about me in high school sitting in class naked.

Going now to hear the finished product and will leave a comment there, my friend.

Awesome News!

Bill

Umm, pick ME? I ain't never done it right, if I remember correctly.....

Bill

EDITED TO ADD: Oh! I have to play it myself???? I don't have a guitar right now -  only my drums, but can I pick a song and  get one of our family to play it for us? Sorry, I STILL didn't understand it. The best I could do would be Wipeout, but I don't have a mic. Sorry I keep getting it wrong, but if I could, I'd play, "Sloop John B"...... But I vote for my very good pal, dino, and he probably knows what song I'd like him to play.....

Be well, my friend. I listen to Commander Cody about once a week as I have three albums of his. You have great taste in rock 'n roll!

What about you and Dondra, Bill?  I understand there's record flooding pretty far in off the coast.  I hope you two are safe, dry, and haven't completely lost power. Stop in and let us know you're well when you get a chance to.  Take care!

Sunny weather every day Amy. We're in what is known as "North-West" Georgia. Still in Metro-Atlanta, but far enough west to almost be in East Alabama. No trouble here, thank goodness, but we both stand ready to help anyone of our Chordie Family at any time.

Thanks, dino! There were quite a few "dark songs" from the early 60's: "Tell Laura I Love Her."  by Dickie Lee for instance.

And then from the 70's, this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClJLrxGClxk

"Have you heard the story of the hot rod race where the Fords and Lincolns were settin' the pace? That story's true, I'm here to say, 'cause I was drivin' that Model A!"

I had never heard this one before, Russell .We didn't come to the US until 1960 and much of the American music I heard in Germany was limited to Elvis and Hank, Sr. But after having heard you play it, I looked up the lyrics and thought to myself, "Man! That's a dark song for the late 50's!", but maybe there were others? I remember my friend dino's suggestion about J.Frank Wilson's  "Last Kiss" and then this one:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zo8DhbQw_O4      smile

I don't know if this is "Country" or "Rockabilly", but here's a guy playing guit-steel and his name in Junior Brown and that's his Sweetie next to him. I hope you enjoy it!
