Hey Thanks Nela,

I don't think i'll mess with her dogs, I play second fiddle to them critters. It's too risky ,I havent slept alone in 30yrs and I'm afraid I might not like it.
I'll get everthing in and if I have room I might slip a third guitar in just to show her who's boss.Oops I hope she aint lookin over my shoulder!

Welcome Kenneth,

There are a lot of knowledgeable folks on chordie,so if you need advice or help, just hollar!

Well Folks,

Wednesday morning I am heading to North Dakota for my daughters wedding.Should be a busy weekend. We have a practice session on thursday night for the songs we will play at the reception saturday night.Friday night we have a jam session at the inlaws. Then Saturday we have some friends of the bride that are gonna kick things off for about an hour, then I am gonna play four songs before the main man Jalan Crossland plays the big show of the evening. He is really somethin!
We are starting to pack up and my wife just asked how many guitars I was bringing?I said at least 2 of course. And she said
how many F*&%#@? can you play? I told her to relax we will get everything in and she says "what if I wanted to bring something"
and I said you are arent you,and made reference to her three dogs she's bringing and she said "ya they'll all be sitting on me"
I think the gals get kinda pressured up around weddings, she is usually pretty easy going but I am tip toeing around her right now.
We will probably look like the Beverly Hillbillies  but what the heck,we'll get it all in.

My List
2 guitars
2 mics
2 guitar amps
digitech pedal
2 music stands
amp stand
3 song books
2 mic stands
lots of cables

I will report in when I return!
I Think I am prepared?

I was born in the TV era and was a big baseball fan, Mickey Mantle was my hero also Roger Maris and we looked forward to the Saturday game of the week with commentator Dizzy Dean.Sunday Night we always wound down and watched Bonanza before bedtime
My dad played guitar and harmonica and listened to 45's to get his chord progressions and lyrics "this was way before Chordie"
of course.
My dad had 45's and 78's  but I started my collection with 8 tracks  and LP's  tried cassettes for awhile but mostly a collection of about 1000 LP"s that I still have, for a security blanket I guess.

I probably qualify as I can remember getting a free tiger tail from Shell petrol (I think) to tie around my petrol filler cap. This was the days when all cars had an exposed filler cap and their motto at that time was "Put a tiger in your tank".

Roger, I believe it was Esso and Enco that used the ad,being in the oilfield all my life and growing up in an oilfield camp I believe it was, just for the record.I guess that probably makes me a geezer.

Hey Pix,

I bet your wife is hiding them.My wife just gave me heck again, she just unlodged about a dozen from the clothes dryer. She always seems to have a good supply of them in the laundry room.

And when the "Trailers Rockin, Don't come Knockin"

Hey Zurf,

I had a similar experience just before christmas. I was in diddlin around at the local store and played a guitar that just jumped out at me.It was a $500 guitar and all my other guitars are many times that, but this one just made me smile.I went home in a daze and babbled to my wife how nice this guitar sounded. She said the three acoustics I have should do the job and I agreed.
Christmas day come and she handed me a new guitar and a huge hug.It is nice having the support and she is so proud that I am still playing the new guitar everyday.

"Roll another one just like the other one"       line from The Fraternity of Men the Soundtrack Easy Rider   1969  I believe.

I think the song name was "Don't Bogart Me"

Just a wonderful bunch of songs in this Movie especially for a young easily influenced rebel, this movie was the beginning of my hell raising Chopper Days.

Great Idea!

Some folks don't have to work on vocals but most do including me, do. As I've grown older I have lost alot of range and have had to adjust.I make full use of a capo and sometimes tune down a 1/2 or full step also.It would be nice to hear some tips and tricks.
I am working on a song now that I have played for years in the key of G and it worked good, but now I have to transpose it to D and then capo it at the 2nd fret, but the guitar playing doesn't transpose with the full effect. Now I'm back at it trying to play it in the G progression capoed at the 3rd fret for Bb.I am gonna try to get it,cause the guitar is so important on this piece.

I think Alvee is right about recording, after you get accustomed to hearing your own voice you can tell if the key is right or where you need to work on things.

Hey Nela,

Russ is right on,and you are thinking right also. The 1,4,5 progression is rule of thumb for alot of songs, but not all.Another popular song that uses the D C G  progression  is "Can't You See "  by Marshall Tucker another southern rock band.

That's a good one! The only thing missing was a shot of John Belushi

I"m with Russ on Bonnie Raitt, when you hear her play and sing it is right up there.

I have been learning a couple songs by Eva Cassidy, I really like her style!   www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7-haKkFnT8

Hey, Cam

It is kind of hard to explain but they are flatpicking while strumming the D chord. I made a D chord and hammered on the 4 string 2nd fret  then strummed through the chord twice then  hammeron the 4th string 2nd fret and play it open after that while strumming through a d chord then play open A string then hammer it at the 2nd fret then play a open D string then hammer it and play through the chord.

This all happens kinda fast but it all pretty much revolves around the D chord and the second fret with hammerons on the G D A Strings

I don't know if I'm right or not but I can make it sound kinda close, the volume is so low I can't hear it real well on my laptop.

Russ, has a very good ear if he sees this he may help also.
