Russell, do I remember correctly that you live up by Green Bay?

Absolutely wonderful! That's top-notch playing, singing, and composing.

Wow! Great job. Love your the quality and sincerity of your voice, and the purity of your finger picking. Excellent lyrics, too.

On a side note, I've got XP too and need to switch--any advice?

Hey Ken,

I was listening to your recording again, and I was wondering if you could indicate the string order of your picking pattern. You don't have to write a whole tab; if you could just indicate what you're doing in a verse line. I really like the sound of it, and hope to learn it.

Thanks!

Excellent job! I had a lot of fun playing it--I really like the rhymes and rhythm of the language. I look forward to hearing you sing it.

I enjoyed playing your song. The lyrics create a slow, mournful tune, and there's that interesting use of the B7 to keep things interesting!

I really enjoyed your video! Great voice and picking, and excellent song, too.

You got to record and post this Jerome. I've been playing around with it this afternoon, and I'm having a blast, but I'd really like to hear the official version.

I'm not how you play his, but I'm having a heck of a good time with it. Lyrics have a wonderful, rollicking feel, and together with chords, create a down-home, country blues feel.

Thanks for this link! I never thought to look for something like this, and I'm really having a great time playing along to songs I've only practiced alone.

Great job! I like the idea of writing short songs with just a couple of chords in order for people to learn how to play.

The Epiphone Masterbilt line is all solid wood and not too expensive. I have a spruce top, mahogany back and sides AJ500E that I'm very happy with. Epiphone doesn't make that model anymore, but they have other guitars in the Masterbilt line. I've also played a variety of Recording King guitars that were all solid wood and below $500. The sound of these guitars is good, and the quality of the build seems above average for the price. They've got a wide selection of guitars in many styles, but it's sometimes hard to find a store that carries the Recording King line; however, their website includes a store locator: http://www.recordingking.com/

Yeah . . . you  know heartbreak is coming when a woman says, "I don't want to hurt you . . ."

There's a little Weird Al Yankovic in all of us, so here's my parody of The Eagles, "Take It Easy."  I didn't do a fancy format because this is just a parody of someone else song. Anyway, hope you get a laugh out of it.

"Cuz I'm Sleazy"

                  G
Well I’m hanging at the bar, posing like a star,
                                D          C
I got seven women on my mind
G                                               D
Four say they don’t know me, two they just ignore me
C                                      G
One thinks I’m a waste of time
                      Em           C      G
They say I’m sleazy, so sleazy
          Am                   C                        Em
Gotta find the kind of girl who’s really easy.
          C              G
Trying hard as I can,
              C              G
But I’m still a loser man
              Am                        C                           G
Nobody wants to take my hand  because I’m sleazy

                G
Now I’m wandering a park, strolling after dark,
                   D            C
Such a fine sight to see,
          G                      D
It’s a girl my my, who isn’t with a guy
                 C                                             G
And she’s walking on the path towards me.
              Em                      C    G
Hey there sweetie, I’m so needy
                    Am              C                         Em
I’d give you fifty bucks for you to come and squeeze me..
                  C                  G                     C                                G
Why you running off so fast, don’t you think our love could last
                     Am                         C                                G
I guess you feel you’ve been harassed, and that I’m sleazy

               G
Now I’m fleeing from the cops, but I think they mighta stopped,
                             D              C
So I’ll likely get away this time
G                                       D
Looking for a cutie, who won’t be so snooty,
          C                G
She’s so hard to find
            Em              C    G
Cuz I’m sleazy, so sleazy
          Am                C                   Em
Do I need to buy a doll to try to please me?
                  C   G             C   G
Come on ladies, I’m not crazy
           Am                  C                            G
I just need another chance before you  taze me.

It reminds me of a song about someone who's been lucky enough to "marry up." That's definitely my situation--as my wife will tell you.  My favorite section of the song is that G   D   Em   C progression . . . simple, but it sounds so good.

Hey Dirty Ed--

How long have you lived in Chillicothe? I spent three summers there working as an actor in "Tecumseh!" I really enjoyed my time in southern Ohio--it's a beautiful part of the state.
