Last  night   I  did  my  regular  slot  at  our  local open mic .Sadly  we  had  a " bedroom rockstar"who  talked  at  the  top  of  his  voice through  every ones  set .
I  wrote  this today .

                                                              Ignorance and Beer
We play acoustic folk songs
in a subtle quiet way
All you do is natter
and I don't know why you stay

Chorus

You haven’t come to listen
so I don't know why your here
Maybe its just ignorance and beer

You've had your time on stage
and we've listened to your songs
no one even bothered that you got the lyrics wrong
we clapped and cheered for you
when you finished of your set
everybody listened and that's something we regret
Chorus

You haven’t come to listen
so I don't know why your here
Maybe its just ignorance and beer

You might be a bedroom rock star
with a mirror on your wall
in your mind you’re Jimi Hendrix
Pride comes before a fall
You're talking in the back ground
Louder than the act
no one wants to hear you, we know that for a fact

Chorus

You haven’t come to listen
so I don't know why your here
Maybe its just ignorance and beer

The people you've talked over
might be nervous or unsure
You don't know much about them or what they've done before
They might have been around the scene a long long time ago
and never had the chance to shine, or show what they can do
every one deserves the chance to be listened to.

It's sad but the amount of spam we get makes this site  like a Monty python sketch .Seriously though I was in a cafe the other day that had Spam eggs and chips on the menu .I kept calm and didn't do the song.

Age

Spam

That's   really  good  Richard ,  one  of  your  best . And  it  suits  your  voice  perfectly .

Thanks I'll pass the info on to Robert

Having a few problems hearing Jim might be my device I'll give it another listen on the lap top later

Change the state
And you'll feel greater

     G
lost my job and  self  esteem
              D                          A
cant get them ' back again.

D
I tried to  help  my country,
                                         G
    Worked  for  the  NHS
        G                           D
we didn't  get  no  decent pay
                                 A          D
    they clapped  for  us  instead

        G                                                                         D
So, pass around the bottle, boys, let's talk about old times,
            D                                         A                            D
night's rollin' in, it's cold as sin, here on the welfare line !

       D
3. Couldn't  pay  my  taxes ,
                                           G
couldn't pay the debts I owed,
                                         D
'cause I ain't made of silver,
              D                              A
and I ain't never seen no gold.
    D
    I  remember  poor old Rachel,

  Most of them don’t care
               G                          D
about  the  lives of other folk
           D                                  A

For  your  daily  bread
            G                           D
The  Tories  count  their money
