I'm not sure how to ask this question but, are there rules as to how to use the chords in a chord progression?  As in the key of c,  c,f and g, is there a particular order or does the phrasing of the song set the order.  Silly I know but I can't seem to sort this out.     b.

Alanmac, just do it and have fun. I started learning just over three years ago, I love to practice and I've learned a lot but, I too can not yet memorize chords and lyrics to songs, I can do a few but not many. I've played out in public and used my book of songs I put on list for the night. I feel guilty doing it and, I've been told to stop using a book. I wish I could.  Like Pete said I envi those that can play all night without  a sheet in front of them.     b

Russell, I'm familar with that desease too.   b

Thanks everone, I started about a month ago with Zurfs' suggestion, havent noticed any improvement yet but, its early. As I've heard other people say "teaching yourself, your teacher knows no more than you"
We start learning chords by poor neck position to better see our finger placement. I've got to relearn that whole process, I know now that you can't be looking at the fret board all the time. Oh well, if it was easy everyone would play Guitar.

I know i'm a long way from good but, I can still play a pretty darn good Country or Folk song.  Or so my friends say.  Smile,   b

I've wanted to ask this question for some time. Does anyone else have this problem? my first knuckle does not bend sharp enough to get on the tip of the finger pad.

I have to be very careful when playing a g chord for example, because of this problem the pad of my finger will sometimes mute the a string. I have noticed that some people can bend that knuckle to 90 degrees. Boy, i wish i could.       b

I've done a couple of free gigs for the community, it is fun. Before the last time a lady said to me " I hope it's not all Country" I suggested she ask for a refund before she went home. BTW, i answered over an open Mic.

Great song, good performance Pete. Ditto on what Dino said.    b

Speed of the sound of Loneliness and, Souveniors, both by John Prine.
Trying to learn good treble picking patterns for both songs. Bass/thumb picking is easy for me but, the g, b and e not so much. Also still working on 'Hello in there' Got a lot of help on it from Wayne, a fellow Chordian, he was very generous of his time and i really appreciate it, thanks again Wayne. I kind of hit a wall with that one and am letting it rest a while.   b

It would be easier to list the ones I like  (0)     b

Bunbun is correct in his statement, I live about 40 miles away from where this happend. It is sad but true that these people live outside a fire district and, made a conscious decious to gamble about protection. Only they know why they choose to not pay, i feel bad for them but, again, bunbun covered it well.    b

Glad you are ok and not involved, my Wife and I were in Ashville that night, scary to hear the report on the TV. One missed our community by about a mile a few years ago. Nasty things, only way to be safe is to be under ground level in a basement or shelter. My heart goes out to your friends.  b

Amanda, sung by both Don Williams and Waylon Jennings. A good slow 3/4 time tune.   b

Good for you Girl, I've listened to your recordings and, your much better than you give yourself credit for. I have never played for money but, playing out is shurley fun.  Go for it.    b

Thanks folks, I think you all are right to a degree, I tried pausing and letting it load and it worked 2 of three times. I have high speed ISP, or so they say and I pay for. Any way Pete is also right I'm sure, so much going on on u-tube. Oh well, just a blip in the road of life i suppose. i sure do like watching the videos y'all put up, good singers and players, some day maybe I'll figure it out and give it a try.  bob

Often when i'm watching music videos of fellow Chordieans, the video will stop or freeze and then start again. I have two computers and it happens to both. Anyone else have this happen?    Any suggestions. Thanks,  bob.

I'm a Bocephus fan, my favorite is, "Old Habits" followed by "young Country", I'm For Love, Country State Of Mind, and, I agree with Tubatooter, I like Sr's "Im So Lonesome I could Cry" I usually do at least one of these any time i play for friends or family. Having Said that I saw Jr in Concert back in the early 80s and he was awful that night, Liquor was involved, Im sure, I swore I would never go to see him again. and to this day I still would not.

Thanks guys, i did take a 15 minute break after an hour, but then played another 1 1/4 hours.  A cool thing, my Granddaughter did two duets with me. It was great and I'm anxious to schedule another show. No vidio was taken, I'll have to try and get some one to do that next time.  bob

Some time ago, i think about 3 mos. I wrote of wanting to do a small 2hr. Country music show at our Home Owners assoicians Community building. I finnaly got that worked out and did the show last evening.
Only had 34 in attendance but they seemed to have a good time, as i did.
I was pretty nervous through the first couple of songs but, after that I was fine. Everyone stayed for the entire show, and they were generous with their applause. I hit a few sour notes but, I want to do it again.  bob.
