Thanks again to all the well-wishers.  I told Christy about all of you and your best wishes last nite and she said: "No wonder you always get on there, they must be nice people."  And that my music friends, pretty much sums up my Chordie experience.   Thanks

Thanks everyone for the nice, suprise sentiments from all!  Let's see, yes, she likes my guitar and even tolerates me singing and playing in the house.  No, I didn't club her in the head, she clubbed me.  Have already been on the Darby and yes, she does like to fish.  Not sure about floating the creeks, but she is pretty good catching bass at my buddies lake.  We have been together now for 7.5 years, so today was just kind of making official the way we already have been living.  She is a great girl, loves the simple things in life, especially living out here in the country on the farm.  Thanks again everybody.

As much as I would love to join, tomorrow night is opening night for our local AAA baseball team (Columbus Clippers ) and we have very good seats.  My sons and I are kind of sports nuts and we do a lot of this type thing throughout the year.  I did go and sit in with a local band on Monday night and got to play along and learned a bunch in a few short hours.  They were kind of having a memorial for one of their own who passed away last week.  I didn't realize until I got there that they expected me to be the singer for the evening.  My buddy says they were auditioning me!  LOL  Have fun all tomorrow night.  I will catch up with you one of these sessions.

Cover of an old Travis Tritt song I have liked for a long time.  Just sharing, hope you enjoy!  Let me know what you think!

Amy; just saying, you "might" be spoiled!  In a good way, of course!

That is what I said!  When I began this entire musical journey over a year or so ago, I first went to an open mic to perform.  Most of the performers had accoustic / electric guitars, but some; like myself, only have a straight accoustic.  No problem, I was told, we will just "mike" your guitar.  They placed a Shure SM57 mike directly in front of the sound hole on my guitar and away I went.  When it came time for me to plunge into buying my own stuff, I followed everybody's advice and bought the Shure SM 58 for voice and a SM 57 to "mike" the accoustic.  It seems to work okay, but if I am doing something wrong, please enlighten me as I still am very new and trying to understand.  Thanks for everybody who is weighing in and trying to put some info behind this topic.  This is what makes Chordie such a great place; great people just trying to help each other out.    Big Jim aka Bass Viking

Hey M.B.  I have the Shure SM 58 for voice recording and use a Shure SM57 for miking my accousic.  Both came highly recommended to me by others and have seemed to serve me well.

Hey Amy; Hope you get to feeling better!  I have had this for over a week now and it is still just kicking my butt!  I hope yours is a quicker version.

Thanks for the replies!  My cables are definitely not the "cheapest", they are professional low line noise cables from Shure.  My house is new in the last year, but I will check my power supply.  I don't plug in my accoustic, I only mic it so there is nothing going on in a guitar.  I appreciated everybodies responses as I didn't have a clue, but will continue to seach for the mystery; and sweetmix4u; No you didn't post too much, thanks.

You are welcome Dino!.  Thanks for the feedback guys!  Hey Pete; I'll be waiting!

I have been sick for about a week and today was first day i picked up guitar.  I decided to do a Cover of a Dolly Parton song called Jolene.  Always liked her version, but it was sung from a woman's perspective.  I slowed it down a bit and changed around a few things to make it from a brother's perspective.  Hope you like it!  Let me know what you think!

Goog for you!  Keep it up and maybe you can have one of those Martin's for your very own.  I love playing outside on the porch so much that we are going to build a huge 20' X 20" screened enclosed back porch overlooking the woods to enjoy!

thanks to everyone for their feedback.  It seems to just be there as soon as I turn on the amp with mic's plugged in.  I have moved it around the room, used a different plug; put it close to the plug, far away from a plug, have yet to roll up the excess chord and try that.  I have takent this several times to the nursing home, the senior center and other places and didn't have this problem there.  If only my cell phone or Wifi signal could be here so strong in this little creek valley.  Thanks for all the replies.  I will endeavor on!

I have an Accoustic brand AG60 accoustic amp and so far have been very pleased with it; however I am experiencing something I don't know what to do with.  About twelve miles up the road is a low power faith based radio station and everytime I turn my amp on, I get their signal coming in thru the amp.  Does anybody know how this can be prevented or what can be done to keep it from happening?  I would really appreciate any ideas as I am still such a newbie with amps, guits, mics and such that I really have no clue and would love some perspective.  Please give me a shout out if you have any ideas!   Thanks

Hey M.B.  I am not very advanced either, so maybe subconsciously I was hiding.  the Bass is not about my voice, but more about me being a bass fisherman and the Viking part is just part of an old high school mascot thing.  Was fishing once with someone who competed against in school and he said something like, "Yea, that big a s s viking outfished me again and it kind of just got shortened to Bass Viking.  I am pretty sure that what I am doing is picking the bass string of the open chord and then doing a down, up, down, up and then repeating.  I think!  Strumming is the one part of all of this that has left me a little confused, but I seem to be getting sounds to come out and I really like what I am doing.  Oh, by the way, thanks for the comments, it is appreciated.

Good Work Joe!  so pleasant to listen too, great picking and the props are fun!

thanks Daddycool!  I get one out every now and then.  I don't think I could ever create them the way you do!

thanks Joe and Daddycool, I am having a lot of fun with this music stuff.  I have met some great folks here on Chordie that allow me to test the waters in ways I never dreamed I would when I started this whole thing a couple of years ago.    Your comments are appreciated.

Nice job!  Video looks good, especially with all the props.  Keep em coming!

I agree with Topdown; if I could make a list of those I would love to have a night sitting around listening watching, wlbaye - wayne would be on that list.  I have enjoyed everything I have seen him do.  I guess I am a fan!

Yea, paybacks are a bbbbbbitch and I deserved one.  I poked fun at Amy for her mispelled word; only to have it pointed out to me that I mispelled blonde.  Thanks Paul (normtheguitar)!  Amazing how you can see others mistakes, but not see your own.  LOL  And I don't have any blonde to blame it on; just gray!

I hope you not letting it go to your "brian" was not the start of what happens with those blonge highlights and just a slip of the fingers!  LOL

An original tune I wrote about how boys are raised to be tough and not show their emotions, but how I have changed as I have got older.  I hope you enjoy!
