Well while I don't know what make it is I don't think it's supposed to be a toy. "Steel reinforced neck" would suggest a truss rod, (as would what appears to be a truss rod cover), so I'm guessing it's a "proper" guitar.

Joey try a stratabond neck before you buy. I had my heart set on a Martin but couldn't justify the £'000's it was to cost so I thought I'd go for their lower end stuff but I REALLY didn't like the stratabond neck, it just felt rough to me, (that was when I bought my Guild instead).

Fender have never been particularly known for their acoustics so it's highly unlikely to have gone up in value although if you find a collector you could get lucky as the Monkey Business guitars were 4 designs in very limited editions of 100 per design. There's currently one for sale on Gumtree for £120 and that's with a hard case. There are a few for sale in the US ranging in price from $200 to $279 which makes the Gumtree guitar appear cheap!

Hope that gives you some indication, good luck with the sale.

This year will be my 50th on our little blue planet and Mrs Buzzwagon, (Marion), has asked me what I'd like for my birthday. I've been GASsing for a Gretsch for ages but, as I'm sure you're all aware, the US made guitars are a small mortgage to buy over here so a Chet Atkins Country Gent it won't be but she's happy to buy me an Electromatic, (5120, 22, or if I get a lucky a second hand 5129).

My question is does anybody have any experience of Gretsch's? Beyond the fact that they're owned by Fender, Electromatics are made in Korea, look the mutts nuts, have a cracking tone and Brian Setzer and Chet play the top end stuff, I know nothing. So what do you know about the low end Gretsch's?

Any help would be great

Thanks
Jerry

I had a Tanglewood Classical guitar with a beautiful bubinga back. It was a great guitar with superb projection. I only sold it as I just didn't use it.

How sad, a great singer and blues legend. I'd rather go blind than see her walk away

A Fender F75 back in the early 80's. I was actually a drummer at the time in a country rock band!

I can't work out whether or not this is mocked up, (I so hope it's not), but either way it's pretty cool.

It would sound different and it would be easier to play but can I suggest an alternative, instead of using your pinky try using your ring finger to make the chord, you'll find it a lot easier and you'll be left with your pinky around to play with.

Interesting that both Oz and Canada are in the Commonwealth. Could be coincidence but anybody from other Commonwealth countries getting the same message?

Seems like somebodies made boo boo somewhere.

I think with reggae you have to work the rhythm around the off beat.

Sounds easy and isn't

I know it's not quite New Year here yet in good old Blighty but by the time it is I will be in absolutely no condition to be allowed anywhere near a computer for fear of a drunk eBay session ending up in me becoming the owner of a £35,000 original 50's Telecaster, so I'll take the opportunity now if I may to wish you, and your friends and families, A Very Happy New Year and a peaceful 2012 and may all of your wishes come true.

There is no such thing as a GAS antidote, there are only GAS arrestors.

GAS can't be cured, it's only ever possible to fight the symptoms. I find it staggering that our Governments are doing nothing to find a cure for this, frankly, debillitating disease. I will be lobbying my MP to raise the question in Parliament and to have put guitars and amps placed on the NHS.
