Yet another example of government spending that is not needed and shows little foresight. It's amazing how deeply Washington has buried this country. Here's a link that really made my head spin http://finance.yahoo.com/news/12-scary- … -2012.html And to think at one time the national debt was less than most peoples mortgage today. Whats up with that?

Checking out Yahoo news and came across this http://finance.yahoo.com/news/obama-wan … 00840.html Really gives you pause to consider what else is costing more to make than what it is actually worth. Maybe we should go back to shells and beads.

One of the greatest coaches in college football passed this morning (Sunday 1/22/12) He had been battling lung cancer and a broken pelvis. Even though his career ended in controversy due to the actions of one perverted man he will be remembered as one of the greatest coaches to ever grace the sideline. 409 wins,37 bowl games, 2 national championships and more than 250 of his players went on to the NFL. Truly an achievement that will be around for a long time. It's a shame that his legacy will be tarnished by his lack of indecision of reporting Sandusky to the cops although he did report it to Penn State officials. But he always seemed to make the correct decisions on the field and that is what he should be remembered for. WE ARE...PENN STATE!!

Because of copyright laws a lot of people can't access Beatles songs. However here is a site that may fill your needs http://lennonchords.info/ I think this site and the links it has should work for you. Can't help you with NZ songs though

Like Zurf, if there is anyway I can help you know how to contact me. Although distance makes being involved physically difficult, I'm willing to do what I can through email or phone. Take care Butch

Been playing around with the new guitar and have a whole new respect for those just starting out. Trying to get the proper body posture, arm positioning, bending the wrist just right and getting the fingers to do what they're supposed to do is more difficult than I remembered. After 30 years playing right handed it is indeed just like starting over. After only a bout a half hour my wrist is achey,my fingers sore and find it hard to strum and keep a steady beat. So to all you newbies out there from an old newbie, hang in there and if it hurts, you're probably doing it right.

I found out this morning why my my wife has been so uncooperative about me shopping for a lefty model guitar. I was getting all the basic arguments, cost, actual need and why can't you make a right handed guitar into a lefty. I finally gave up and figured I would wait until after X-mas and see what kind of sales their were. Somehow she managed to have delivered and hide a new thin line acoustic electric. It's a Jameson spruce top, linden (basswood) sides and back, mahogany neck and rosewood fretboard. It has a piezo monted under the bridge, which is also rosewood. She said she hoped it was what I wanted but was nervous because it was listed as a "second". After looking it over the only thing I could find wrong was a small chip in the finish on the back of the neck and a small bit of chipping at the bottom of the fretboard. All in all very difficult to see and doesn't affect how it plays at all. It's definately an entry level model but much better than what I currently have(nothing) LOL. After some intense questioning she admitted to having our sixteen year old do the research for her and then hiding the bank statement. (It was less than a hundred bucks) It seems like it will play well and the tone although not great is pretty good. Have to say I'm pretty happy with it over all. I'll try to get one of the teenagers to get some pics of this and the rest of the inventory on here,as I don't have the foggiest idea on how to do it. Technologically retarded as far as computers and digital cameras go. Hope everyone has a great X-mas. Butch

Hey buddy, sorry to hear of such a tragedy. As a lifelong hunter and shooter I want to stress to everybody that may not be ALWAYS TREAT EVERY FIREARM AS IF IT WERE LOADED!!!!! Your neighbor showed no respect to that rifle and unfortunately this is often the end result. My prayers go out to everyone involved and it saddens me that a young life was lost. Hopefully the other girl will pull through and you and your family find peace. My best to Mrs. Pix and you. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. Butch

Re: Fire fighters do nothing while home burns (25 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
I want to make it clear that I don't hold the firefighters themselves responsible for their actions(or lack of). In my area we must also pay yearly fees for ambulance service but not for fire. (Yet) However the ambulance will still be dispatched but you will receive a bill for it. I just feel that the powers that be should have done what they could too protect property loss and also potentially preventing what could have been a situation where others were also put in danger. The fire department could have taken action to recoup the cost. I don't condone the family's decision to not pay the fee, I simply think it could have been handled better

Just read this article and was stunned that something like this could happen. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/te … 41763.html Does anyone else's community require you to pay a fee for services such as this? I also live in the country but the only time I've heard of such a thing is if you intentionally set a fire (burning trash or leaves) and it gets away from you. Then you're charged for man and equipment hours but I'm not sure what the rate is. It seems to me that this community should rethink their policies on things like this. In my opinion this just shows how petty local government can be. They really should have done something and then collected their "fee"

Topic: therapy today (4 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Well, back from physical and occupational torture. The scabbing is now all gone so therapy has started in earnest. I'm gaining on my hand except for the index finger. It still won't bend at the tip and tends to want to lay across my middle finger. They don't know at this point if that is going to be a permanent thing or if it may come around in time. Fortunately my therapist is also guitar player so he understands how important it is to me to be able to play. Time will tell. I did pick up my Ovation the other night and tried to form some chords. Managed to get an E minor position wise, although I couldn't make it sound like it should. Not enough hand and finger strength yet. Still hoping Santa will bring me a lefty, but not giving up on playing right handed. Too many dollars invested in guitars to not be able to play them. Thanks to all for your continued support. Butch

Had my 5th visit to the therapist today and had encouraging news. My range of motion in all fingers is at or above where it should be at this stage. My grip strength has gone from 14 lbs to 25 and over all little pain involved. See the surgeon again on Monday and maybe get some idea of when I can get back to work. Still waiting for some scabbing to disappear then I can start trying to wrap my hand around a guitar neck. I can see the light... Butch

As I've been going to physical and occupational therapy three times a week now(which is going well) I've been surprised at the number of people there that I know. Granted Clarion is a small town but to know 3 or 4 people going through the same thing I thought was a little strange. Good but strange. Imagine my surprise when I ran into the former lead guitar player of the last band I was in. Terry and I go back some 30 years and we have one of those see ya later, call me relationships. You know the kind where you just never get around to doing it.He's given up playing live due to some medical issues but he has set up a sweet little studio. This weekend my wife and I are going over and taking our boys and we're going to try to lay down some tracks. I can't play guitar but I'll blow some harp and do some vocals. My son Scott will be playing drums and Luke will be backing up Terry on rythym guitar. This will be their first opportunity to do anything like this and I'm totally stoked for it. Personally I miss performing and to be able to include my kids makes it that much better. We'll see how it goes and possibly download some snippets on here once we get back to form. Stay tuned.... I was browsing around the net looking at different guitars and luthier supplies and found that you can purchase a kit made by Martin to build your own guitar. I've seen kit guitars before but never one from a major player like Martin. It looks like it would be fairly easy to assemble if you have some woodworking skills. Check it out http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/ … guitar-kit I had no idea that MusiciansFriend even had kits let alone a kit from Martin. Pretty cool.
