First off welcome to chordie rowly14. A good set up makes things easier. The thing with barre chords is it's good to use the index and middle finger to apply enough pressure to get a clean sound. Plenty of practice and you will have it in no time.

I handle whse vending problems and freight loss claims for a retail chian distribution center throughout the southeast. It's not as luxurious as i'd like but it pays the bills and keeps the family fed.

I'm my own teacher also and when i get stuck in a rut or hit a plateau i just search you tube for lessons that i haven't worked on yet and find different songs from other genres i wouldn't usually try. You could also go back to the first songs you learned and embelish the easy version with the new tricks or skills you have learned. Then again when you think you've learned enough give a listen to some of the pros. It will give you inspiration and humble you at the same time.

Thanks guys for the info. I saw on the tube to use lighter fluid but wasn't sure. I tried the polish remover but i didn't use enough to really wet the glue good so nothing really happened to it. I'll try and put up some before and after pics when i get it done just for the sake of helping others in this situation. Thanks again i can always count on you good people to help with my problems.

Congrats Zurf. Singing hasn't ever been my thing either but i can stand to hear myself most of the time. It does make those household singalongs more enjoyable. I'm sure your children wouldn't mind either way. It is the effort that counts when it comes to the little ears.

If you are playing it clean and can move to and from other chords comfortably that way just go with it. To my knowledge any one can use any fingers to form a chord as long as it is at the correct fret an on the correct strings. You might find help on some of the online sites for guitar lessons. Just remember if you use your index, middle and ring finger it will prepare you better for playing the other D chords easier.

I don't own a SG but i've had a neck heavy guitar before. Sometimes a wider strap helps then if that doesn't work you could use a counter balance on the other end to hold it up.
