Yes doc, you're right, a chat forum can be a great source of pleasure, to disabled people like myself (and you).
When you can't get out much, an on-line community like this one gives you the chance to make friends and meet people in a way that was impossible 20 years ago.
keep it up

Re: PUNK (11 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
The Sex Pistols original line-up was Glen Matlock who could play bass, Steve Jones who could play guitar, Paul Cook who could play the drums.
What you think of Lydon's 'singing' is a matter of personal taste.
When they were recording some of the tracks for 'Never Mind the Bollocks', Sid Vicious (John Ritchie) had replaced Matlock and attempted to record some bass lines.
When he went home in the evening, Steve Jones layed down alternative bass lines and dropped Sid out of the mix.
Interestingly, he played a lot of double stop 'chords' on the bass (I know chords have three notes), which provides much of the powerful sound on tracks like 'God Save the Queen'
So yes, all of them, apart from Sid, could play.

Ken, you crack me up, what in God's name does 'gratulic' mean
And maybe you'd like to tell the world by replying to 'this is truly random' by sanguine
(by the way, check out Ken's artwork on bebo, he's a natural)

Great find ..... I bet it would have some great stories to tell! I'm always going into old pawn shops looking for that lost jewel. Haven't found it yet.
When I was at university in 1980, A friend of mine found a 1950's Gretsch in a pawn shop in Lancaster. He paid £20 for it.
It was blue, battered and played like a dream.
Man, was I jealous.

I think I was repsonsible for 'knackered' (twice in fact), but I can't think of anything else that would require explanation. (but then again I wouldn't would I because it would mean that I don't understand myself).
Give us a list if possible.

The Am G F E progression if transposed to Cm, is Stray Cat Strut by The Stray Cats, a favorite of mine for years.
I think that progression is known as a modal blues too.

Thanks Nadine,
I really need to go and sleep now (I'm so old and knackered)
I'm useless at setting up friends on bebo, I had to wait for Ken (upyerkilt) to sort it out last time, but I will try.
See you tomorrow and thanks for speaking to me, You have a very forgiving personality, and I appreciate that.
keep the faith

You're absolutely correct Nadine.
I'll restrict my political outpourings to bebo.
By the way, join bebo and be my friend, it can't hurt!
You are correct about my sincerity, Madiba as you call him really is one of my all time heroes and that's why I suppose he springs to mind when I'm looking for an example of a man who really matters.
As a side issue, did you ever hear "Free Nelson Mandela" by The special A.K.A, that song opened a few eyes and hearts in the UK. when Nelson was still incarcerated.
sincerely (I don't take the piss 24/7)

Nadine
I'm sorry if I offended you, but I can't see why it was offensive, I Know that irony sometimes doesn't work and obviously this time I failed.
Nelson Mandela is one of my all time heroes, ( I'm looking at his picture now alongside Mother Theresa on my laptop wallpaper) and that's why I chose his name.
I was trying to compare him to Hendrix, another personal hero.
Whether you like Hendrix or not isn't important, he is just a guy that you cannot dismiss rather like Mandela.
please accept my apologies

Hi guys
I've followed Ken (upyerkilt) to the dark side and started a bebo site.
I've never done a 'blog' before, but I think I'll give it go, that way I can go way off topic on anything that gets my goat (strange expression, I've really do have some sheep, but no goats at present).
If you care or not or just want to insult me (and that's OK) I'm here (I think).
Anyway, on things musical Chordie's still the dog's bollocks.

On another note I believe that paranormalguitar just likes to provoke people. He has shown us who he is, it's up to us to believe him. I believe that he is a smart kid who should learn to express himself in a more diplomatic way. We have all been young and brash, with time he will grow up.

I didn't mean to have a go at paranormalguitar, he was only quoting someone else, it was the original author that I'm pissed off at.

I had to cross post this because you may not have looked at paranormalguitar's thread on Van Halen.
Hendrix, "not really very good actually"
Which 'shit for brains' wrote that ?
That's like saying "Einstein, sort of understood a bit of physics, but over estimated himself".
or
"Pele, kicked a ball around but didn't quite get the point of soccer"
or
"Nelson Mandela, read a few things about politics and racial discrimination and had a go at sorting things out in South Africa"
I'm just off for a cold shower ...
