Okay all you Marmite fans out there.  MARMITE is a spread that contains, yeast, caramel, wheat, soy and a hundred and fifty other things.  It was invented by a guy by the name of Mr Parwill.  However, when he came to market it, the name Parwill didn't sound too marketable, so he went the opposite of PA WILL (Parwill) and came up with  MA MIGHT (Marmite)  True Story !!  And oh by the way I don't like it.  I perfer Vegemite!!!

I always wanted to know what a corn dog was.

Hey Lexibabe,
You have come to the right site for help, everyone here gives their help freely and its so good.  They have helped me so much. Ask any question and you will get a reply, no question is too easy or hard or silly.  With regard to the callouses, well nylon strings may help, but I think you will need to develope those callouses and before you know it, it won't hurt.  Also the type of guitar you have. Just keep practising and practising.  But there are a lot more qualified people than me out here that can give you advice.  Good Luck and remember, HAVE FUN AND ENJOY.  And keep that dream of yours alive...

Lambsie,
Like Phil wrote DON'T worry.  Practice but have fun.  I was at your stage, I thought my brain, fingers, eyes, arms and other parts of my anatomy were fried too.  Then before I knew it, a 'light bulb' went on and all thoses chords that yesterday were not 'ringing', suddenly appeared.  You'll surprise yourself how quickly it all comes together and you don't know how you did it ! But you did it by practice ( and having fun).
So keep it up Lambsie and start with something really basic but something that is fun.  Check out the EASY SONGBOOKS here on chordie.
Go and ENJOY !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gee I envy jaygordon and mherbert, the Mandolin and Sax are two of my favourite instruments - Beautiful. I do not play anything else but would love to play something else and one day I will.  But the guitar is what keeps me sane!!!

Hi gitaardocphil,
I have two jobs, one is a security officer for a Physciatric and General Hospital, in the evenings and nights and the other is a horse trainer, early mornings.  So playing on my guitar is a luxury as time is at a premium.  But do I make time? - sure do!  Since I have started playing I have found that all the stress that builds up in me is very quickly released once I strum that first chord.  I am a very basic guitar player, but that doesn't matter because I am the only one who hears me!  Playing my guitar is MY therapy.  Whatever mood I am in, there is a song that fits.  And the incredible thing is that I am playing it.  Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would be able to 'make music".  I have even wrote about 15 songs.
So each day, I look forward to playing my guitar and clicking on to Chordie !  It's nice to meet all you guys and gals.

Hi All,
Don Corleone comes from what my nickname is.  Years ago when I was in the services and the movie The Godfather came out everyone who wanted to know something about someone used to come to me and ask.  If there was a problem, they came to me, hence Don Corleone.  My real name is Ray.....and NO I am not Sicilian, but Samoan.

Hi All,
I am from Dunedin in the deep south of New Zealand

Hi All,
This topic has given me inspiration too.  I am 48 and have been playing for the past year.  Always had a guitar lying around and never played it for over 25 years. (I always thought it looked good when people came to my place!)  Then about a year ago a friend brought me a guitar tuner and some picks. And the rest is history !  I couldn't believe how good it felt to get through a song with only minor mistakes.  I play every chance I get.  Love it.

Yeah its hard when I not sure and all the sales guys are telling me this is the best, that is the best smile.  I know I will always tinker with my guitar, yeah I have caught the "fever" !!!

Thanks Cytania.  I will have a look around. I was not sure if a pack was a good idea and some of the reports about them that I have read today are not that flattering but then someone today told me they have a 'pack' and it has lasted them for ages and they have had no problems.  They started like I am as a beginner and now classify themselves intermediate!!  I have never owned a electric and only have an old acoustic.

Hi Everyone I am currently in the process of buying a electric guitar.  Can anyone tell me if the guitar packs ( amps, guitar, cords etc) I see available, are they any good?
Thanks
