It depends on the song. If I write one that is going to be electric I write it on an electric if accoustic then I write on an accoustic. If mixed i write each on the appropriate instrument. as far as playing goes, I play whatever is handy if i'm away from mine. otherwise I just play on whichever one is appropriate for what I'm doing with the song.

It was a very fun time. Almost all of that lead work was done on the E string. I'm working on a follow up call "We Haven't Learnned Yet" to kind of bring it up to times. Good times.

Always possible and usualy exciting. You aren't nessesarily changing styles you are expanding your own. It will still sound like you. It will just sound like you doing more than you did. Go for it!!!

It really depends on what style of music you want to play. Different styles exploit different techniques. When I first started out I wanted to play rock and blues so I first learnned to play power chords, From there barre chords were easy because I was already making half the chord. Then I learnned the open chords and started learnning some scales. Before long I had all of those down pretty good and started learning some real voodoo. So what style do you want to play?

DON'T EVER feel like you have a stupid question. Nobody knew anything until they found out. I run these guys nuts with questions. It is a privilage to impart knowlege to other musicians.

When a song comes to me sometimes lyrics, sometimes music, sometimes both, I usualy know if it's a guitar song or a piano/keyboard song. So I sit down to the instrument and write the song. I usualy record the rythem guitar or piano as well as the vocals. if I have a mate with me like Jason I'll also record the drums with it or if my wife is there I might have her play a bass line otherwise I use the drum setting on my keyboard and maybe go back and play the drums over it. Then come the overdubbs. Lead guitar, possibly strings or organ or something. The main thing for me is to make sure the song can stand on it's own with only one instrument and vocals.

The hard part for me is making sure that I don't end up in a formula. I try to have a fresh idea and approach musicly and lyricly each time. Looking back at my songs over the years I think this is the first to start on a chorous rather than a verse.

Thanx for the congrats from Leah and myself. Also thanx for the support and encourgement the last few days. It really helpped me to get off of my bum and start working on my music again. This one has a sort of soft 50's feel for the A C# F# E bit and a stronger kind of march for the verses. I might record it this weekend. Not really my best work but it got me working again. Thanx again guys!!!!

Only you know if you are ready. If you and your mates like to play together then you're ready. When you guys feel ready to perform then have a bash at it. You will know when the time is right.
