By Alex Scrimgeour 26/12/07

[C#m]Its been a long time little [G#]one

I caught you smiling at the [E]sun

Darkened eyes and weary [B]head

Dont look at me your seeing [A]red

And I know [E]why

[C#m]Do you miss me when I'm [G#]gone

Aboard that ship that we went [E]on

Across the sea to another [B]land

You wont let go of my right [A]hand

And I dont know [E]why.......

[F#]Can you [A]take me for a [E]ride

(through broken dreams and broken pride)

[F#]To places [A]that I want to [E]go

(Ive never told you so you'll never know)

[F#]Theres certain[A] things I wasnt to[E] see

(the things belong to you and me)

[F#]And when we've [A]had our little [E]run

You'll still be smiling at the [B]sun..........[A]

Smiling at the [E]sun .......[B]............[A].....[E]

Which would you prefer?

Ive got an Ovation Celebrity but I want to swap it with a mate who has a Martin, and his is a feckin awesome guitar, just not sure as I bought the Ovation because I always wanted one, and its originality was a significant factor when i bought it, the Martin doesnt look much at all but holey crap does it sound amazing!!!

So what are your thoughts on this?

Hey ya'll!

Whats your opinions on the best Christmas songs to play on guitar?

Ive been doing the usual Slade and Wizzard stuff, but they get slightly boring after a while!!

Since its teh festive season I thought I'd try my hand at some more!!!

this is a good time to say PRACTICE YOUR BARRE CHORDS.  I know they're hard and frustrating and impossible at times, but once you get them, sharps & flats and sevenths and ninths and minors become very easy--you don't have to learn a bunch of new fingerings, you just slide the shape up or down a fret, or lift a finger.

Yeah im still learning, not even been playing a year yet but got most barre's in E shampe figured out, its A shape I cant get especially down at the bottom of the fret board where its a bit tighter for finger space.

Your a star mate I'll try that right now.

I use the chord chart alot on here too but didnt even think of it duuuuuuuh!!

Ok, so im trying to get a little bit added to a song I wrote, I basically want to be able to play Bm and E at the very bottom of my fretboard using the B and E1 or B and G strings, I have got A and C#m like this............
A
-----------------------------------------------
--14-14-14-14-14-14-14-14--14--14--14----------
--14-14-14-14-14-14-14-14--14--14-----14-------
-----------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------

C#m

-----------------------------------------------
--14-14-14-14-14-14-14-14--14--14--14----------
--13-13-13-13-13-13-13-13--13--13-----13-------
-----------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------

So whats next? Where can I get Bm and E doing it like this?

Can someone help?

Got it Roger, away to upload it right now. smile

Well I've just created one, so please have a look, give me your songs to add and your lyrics!!!

Add some stuff to the page so you can be recognised!

www.bebo.com/unsignedscotland

What have you guys got to lose by letting a wider group of people hear your stuff??

Have A Nice DayWritten by Alex Scrimgeour

Cant describe the rhythm you'll just have to guess

Verse 1

[A][C#m][Bm][E]

Its 8 O'Clock in the morning and the sun is piercing through my blinds

Its time to wake up and start my day, do whatever's on my mind

I'll have a coffee and a shower to, have a shave and come my hair

Step outside into the summer sun

And see what i can find out there.

[A][C#m][Bm][E]

Theres people walking down the other side of the road as they pass me by

I raise my hat and say "Hello" to them

And I wonder if they'll comply

A Little kid he's probably 8 or 9 he looks at me as if to say

"Sir I thank you for the kindness shown, so wont you please have a nice day......."

(Chorus)

Have a nice day

Well the weathers fine, and the day is mine

Theres so much i want to do (Have a nice day)

Can I spend my day with you (have a nice day)

Well only if you want to......

Verse 2

I keep on walking and i stumble on an old man who's lookin down.

I say Old timer whats the matter now, why do you wear that awful frown

He mutters some sort of hostility I shake my head and carry on

Cos nothings goin to make me lose my smile

I'm going to keep it till the break of dawn!

(Chorus)

Have a nice day

Well the weathers fine, and the day is mine

Theres so much i want to do (Have a nice day)

Can I spend my day with you (have a nice day)

Well only if you want to......

[G][A][F#][G]

Well the weathers fine......the day is mine

I got alot i want to do

So many things i'm think of

I'm gonna keep for me an you

( X2 BUT DO NOT PLAY THE LAST G ON THE 2ND TIME ROUND, STRUM F# AND GO STRAIGHT TO A FOR THE LAST CHORUS)

(Chorus)

Have a nice day

Well the weathers fine, and the day is mine

Theres so much i want to do (Have a nice day)

Can I spend my day with you (have a nice day)

Well only if you want to......

Please please please someone must be able to give me the chords for this!!!!

Heres the song incase anyone is wondering, what a great tune!

The way I learned to play barre's was always in E. Start on E but DO NOT use your index finger, keep it loose and use you middle, ring and pinkie to play it then move to fret 2 and barre fret 1 with your index (if you dont know what barring is, its just covering all strings using the whole of your index finger) that gives you F and then just move up the frets you'll get most major chords.

Doing the same with the Am shape gives you notes such as Bm and C#m.

Theres a chord chart HERE that will help alot.

Hope this all helps you mate, I started playing in December/January and took a while to learn barre's but i have the hang of it now.
