Don't count me in yet but , don't count me out either. Sometime after the First of the year I will be switching companies of employment but will remain on a 14 day on and 14 off schedule , just don't know what 2 weeks I'll be working yet. If I am off I would love to come.

A friend once told me , "You can never have too many friends" , I am sure Steve is as happy as you are.
Here's a recording that I just finished and I did a slide show along with it in memory of my wifes late father. I covered Steve Goodman's " I Miss My Old Man Tonight". I changed a few words to fit Bill's life.
I used a Zoom R-16 with a Condensor Mic, Shure KSM-27 for the Rythym guitar Martin HD-28 and vocal on track 1 and added some lead guitar with a Yairi WY1-SB.
Thanks,

Moving, painting rooms , yard work and working have taken most of my time. We are getting settled in now and I am working on a project now . I am having to learn everything again on the R 16 Zoom Recorder but it is enjoyable to get back to some music projects. No new Vids yet.

Add Mississippi along with Louisiana, I am still working in west Texas and most all the folks I am working with are from Miss. or Louis. and they are great people. They work the same schedule as I do 14 days on and 14 off, so they are away from home alot. Luckily all were able to stay in contact with loved ones and kept on working.
I am the oldest man on location and the well site Supervisor and they are the most respectful folks I have ever worked with.
Bob,
You may have to go to Control Panel on your computer and go to Manage Devices, then go to Sound, then you will see the speakers you are using and next to it on top it will say Recording and you can choose your Mic.

Sorry Jeff,
I don't get home until 8-9-12. One more week of work
Thanks for sharing this, all I can think of is "Inspiration"
Howdy Dead String,
A small amp with enough power for small gigs and sounds great is the Marshall AS50D. I don't own one , but have used one a few times and I love this amp. I have several higher wattage acoustic amps. If I were looking for an amp to do small gigs with the best bang for the buck the Marshall ASD is great @ $ 339.00 this will have no problem handling your guitar and vocals and a 50x50 room.
For a vocal mic , most folks will tell you the Shure SM58 is the only way to go. On a tip from "Southpaw" a famous gigging Chordie member, I tried a Sennheiser 835 vocal mic , I haven't used the SM58 since , not saying it is better ,but it was a good fit for me.
In the neck of the woods I come from, it is considered bad luck to play Bluegrass or Country without a hat, sorry Zurf, ball caps are not considered Hats I always felt wearing a Hat, is good insurance to keep the Bad Vibes away and some Hats have lots of Mojo
Amy , Hats do not apply for girls, holding the guitar just right and smiling once in a while is all that is required
Bob,
The sound of a HD- 28 is in my head to , I have been away from mine for about a month and a half and I just played it and Hands down kicks butt when compared to my other guitars. I have played several Martins at Guitar stores that have satin necks recently , I don't know if that is an option with the D-28 or HD-28 but you may want to look at that. It really is a small issue , I feel lucky to have such a wonderful guitar.

Bob,
My HD-28 has the heavy finish on the back of the neck and gets sticky , it is like a thick varnish , i am not sure what the technical name of it is. I have the action as low as can be without alot of buzzing going on. It is also a long scale guitar and for me short scale guitars are easier to play. Long scales result in higher tension and alot of folks including me love the sound.
Martin sells the Om series guitars and the 000 series the Om's are long scale and the 000 are short , and that is about all the difference in them. 25.4'' and 24.9'' doesnt sound like much but to me the short scales play a little easier.
Thanks, Wayne
Bob,
After doing alot of outdoor playing through the years , I have found the great outdoors will swallow up the sound of acoustic guitars. I have several acoustics and for outdoor playing and jamming I find the HD-28 is a very good choice and it will be heard. I like it strumming, picking or fingerpicking it is an all around great guitar. It isn't the easiest playing guitar I own, but the sound is soooo good
Everyone should give a listen to "Desire" I wore out several vinyl LP's and still listen to it in the new digital age, it is his Best IMO , I don't Love everything Bob has done but he sure has given Acoustic players like myself some Great songs to Cover. He also got me started playing harmonica .........
Wow, I didn't know about all the numbers , I thought they were thin to thickest or thick to thinner, I guess they play ok either way
And when I play too much my Wife gets Cranky
I haven't heard or understand much of what you folks are talkin about but we did get FM radio here abouts not long ago
Like 4-6 Mountain Time
I am sittin in Denver , waiting for a flight home, I have a birthday party for my grandson early evening , I will join in before or after the party depending on the time.

I would buy an acoustic guitar without electronics, simply because most makers chop a hole in the top of the guitar and install a lower end set of electronics usually a big piece of plastic and UST pickup.
When the time comes you can chose from a variety of very good pickups that don't require chopping holes in your guitar. The B-Band is kind of spendy around $ 200. A pickup I installed in my Martin is a LR Baggs I-Beam and it is around $ 90. and is very good. I am sure others have favorites to. I also have a LR Baggs Anthem SL and it is also Around $ 200.
A good Acoustic amp makes a huge difference and there are alot of good ones out there now. Marshall AS 50R is great , The new Fender Acoustasonic 50 and 100 , I've tried them both and they are very nice. The Marshall 50 and Fender Acoustasonic are both under $ 400 and are good enough for Doing most Acoustic Gigs.

I added a B-Band 2 pickup to my Masterbuilt and it works great. I have added my own pickups to nearly all my guitars. I just don't like a lot of the pickups that are factory installed and I prefer the less intrusive ones that do not require chopping holes in the guitar.
