I would be afraid to play it. And I would never take it out to a club....

Define "without breaking the bank."

Are you ok with buying used?

Depends upon your budget.  It's not a newer property but it's in a fun part of town! Lots to do right there.

Jeff would earlier September work?

August will still be blazing hot.

Might need to consider October.

It has been suggested that we put together a west coast meet up. I am happy to volunteer my house, which is conveniently located just 8 minutes from McCarran Airport in Las Vegas. There are two ways we can do this:

1. Plan the meet up for this summer with the intention of using my pool and drinkin' outside but playing guitar mostly inside. I have two jam rooms so this should not be an issue.
2. Plan the meet up for this fall and jam all day in the yard.

Please reply and let me know if you're interested and which option you prefer. I have room for a few guests, particularly the type that don't mind air mattresses. Also the South Point Casino and M Casino are under two miles from my home. There's also a doubletree nearby.

I met BB a few years ago. We had a ten minute conversation privately. I told him he was one of the reasons I started playing. He asked "and when was that?" I said when I was 5. He said "I didn't start until I was 14. By the time you're my age, you'll be a lot better than me." Hilarious. Classy guy.

Three options:
1. Play it with your middle, ring and pinkie finger.
2. In many circumstances you can substitute a C9:
0
3
0
2
3
x

3. Play as a 3rd fret barre chord with an "A" shape.

And welcome to Chordie!

I also hate locking nuts. They get in the way.

The purposes of both are to 1) isolate the string from it's windings and 2) mitigate string stick/slip on the nut. String windings (on your peg) slip and move around a lot and take a while to settle. When you trem you relax tension on the string which loosens the windings, which can cause them to need to re-settle, which means your guitar goes out of tune. Locking trems clamp the strings down at the nut, which prevents string grab at the nut (the string doesn't move at the nut if the nut is clamped) and also takes the windings out of the equation.

I prefer locking tuners with a well cut and well lubed nut because they have one added advantage over locking nuts: String changes. No more winding strings at all. You just pull the string through the peg, clamp it off and tune. To me it has all the advantages of a locking nut and then some. (If you've ever had to re-string in the middle of a song you can related to this.)

Plus you don't need to modify your guitar to add them.
Plus you don't need to carry around any special hardware (i.e. a hex nut) to use them.

I was loading my Deville 410 in to my truck and leaned the back of the cabinet against my seat. Well apparently my back plate was worn after 14 years of loading in and out, and it gave way and broke both of the 6l6's. What a crap day. Did I mention I was on my way to rehearsal?

After calling and venting to my fiancee she suggested that I buy myself a new amp in celebration of the fact that I have just about sold my boat (which has been stressful).

I'd been considering a new amp for the last few years because those Devilles are just so heavy...but I really didn't want to drop the coin on one. At any rate, thanks to her I'm now the proud owner of a brand spanking new Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue.

Nice amp, very clean, good volume for rehearsals and club gigs, and it seems to be about 40 pounds lighter than the Deville.
