Peatle. As a follow on, every Thursday evening at 8pm loads of people all over the UK stand at their doorsteps and applaud the invaluable and life threatening work they do. Last night I saw something I haven't seen for many years; after the clapping people, keeping to the two metre rule, stood and chatted with neighbours! This pandemic has brought out the spirit that got us through the blitz and the cold war. Let us hope the plonkers that have their fingers poised over the nuclear buttons aren't stupid enough to push them! HOPE

Hi Peatle.

you began by speaking of your defiance of the covid-19 virus then moved on to how your lands were invaded and your people slaughtered? I sincerely hope that my ancestors were not involved with that invasion?
A very moving and insightful piece of writing as I've come to expect from you. Hope will see us through this bad time.
Be safe my friend.

Thanks Peatle. My friend had been battling cancer for some years and bearing up to the treatments. Then suddenly one day he suffered a major heart attack and he was gone. His wife was devistated as were we all. Her friends and family gathered round and we gave him a good send off. This happened just before the outbreak so there was a good crowd at the funeral to say farewell. Funny I want to remember the good times but all that's coming is the emptiness.

Stay safe and well.

Hi Peatle. Once again an amazing observation, you have a way of transferring what you see around you into interesting and insightful verse.
Nice work, stay well.

And to you my friend. I can't imagine writing an up beat song to such a down beat subject, I felt quite depressed myself when I was done, but Ann has this nack of bucking me up! No not a misspell! Lol

Returning to the original subject, I've lost several good friends in the last few years so I'm well aware of the emptiness one feels. I'm hoping not to lose anymore to this pandemic.

Stay safe my friend.

At this terrible time I know all our thoughts go out to the people that survive those that have succumbed to Coronavirus. So this song came to me and made me think how I'd cope if anything happened to Ann.

Still AliveUndefined

V.1

[Dm] I will miss you now you've gone.

[F] I will cry for you at night.

[Gm] It's torn apart my beating [A7] heart.

How can [Bb] I forgive [Gm] myself for [Dm] that?

V.2

[Dm] Little pieces of my thoughts.

[F] Come to me in memories.

[Gm] There'll never be a girl like [A7] you.

[Bb] Who could put me back in [Gm] time.

[Bb] Show the world that [Gm] I'm...still [Dm] alive.

[G] Wo-wo-wo. [Bb] Wo-wo-wo. Still [Dm] alive.

V.3

[Dm] Did you pass me yesterday?

[F] In a place where people come and go.

[Gm] There beside me in the [A7] street.

You [Bb] disappeared [Gm] before my very [Dm] eyes.

[Bb] Are you [Gm] really still [Dm] alive?

[G] Wo-wo-wo. [Bb] Wo-wo-wo. Still [Dm] alive. (x2)

V.4

[Dm] I still miss you now you've gone.

[F] I cry myself to sleep each night.

[Gm] Taken from me – broke my [A7] heart.

[Bb] How can [Gm] I live on from [Dm] that?

[Bb] I cant forgive [Gm] myself for [Dm] that.

[G] Wo-wo-wo. [Bb] Wo-wo-wo. Still [Dm] alive.

Are you. [G] Wo-wo-wo. [Bb] Wo-wo-wo. Still [Dm] alive.

Also paintings, by kids, of unicorns. They're meant to thank and brighten up the lives of those that must work to keep us safe, or forced, isolationists alive. Big thank to our NHS, stay safe.

Very interesting Peatle, double tracking acapella!!! A great love song and Maree must be happy that you loudly declared your love for her so publicly to a world wide audience, if you hear anything whistling...duck! Our women love to hear us declare our love for them, but not before the world, it embarrasses them...lol
I'm afraid this self isolation thing maybe affecting Ann more than me, like you I'm happy to sit watching the TV or making music in my studio. Ann is more outgoing. She misses her/our social evenings, meeting friends or just shopping.
Stay safe, stay well.

i came across this vid on youtube and i realised that is a fitting song not only for this world racked by coronavirus but also for all the chordie musicians that due to circumstances cant get together to share music. please give it a listen, the "weight" performed by musicians world wide

Jim...here am I sitting in my studio/study/writing room/music room/computer room/junk room laughing my socks off at the last line of your new verse for Pawnee Creek. Ann who was watching her programmes came in to see what amused me so.
I'd love to hear Russ perform it, with the mandolin of course...

another cracker Grah. Just been on the doorstep, 8.00pm Thursday, organised applause for the NHS, they're doing a difficult and frightening job and they deserve all the help, gratitude and love we can give them.

I saved a song two days ago and have had no problems. Is there a limit to how many songs you can save?

Grah, I used to have a book of Goon show scripts which me and some pals used to perform in my front room, we were always hysterical laughing especially when we tried to imitate the voices.

Peatle. Ann and me have  gone into isolation too and they tell us it could be up to 3 months!!! And there's still people heading to the beaches (as we're having some good weather) and climbing Snowdon. They are told not to congregate and to keep a 2 metre space between them yet they're shoulder to shoulder on trains and stuff. My kids knock the door and leave us food parcels, I'm not sure if they're scared of giving us the bug or getting it from us...

I noticed that your first post about this track was in 2011, Lyla must be a teenager by now? Lovely song by the way, I've done a few inspired by my youngest granddaughter, I have 12 grandkids and 4 great grandchildren, this website don't half make ya feel old?

Wow! So much advice today. Glad to see you back posting Brian. Where watching too much depressing news is concerned in the UK we've had Brexit, floods an election and now coronavirus. It could get worse; Boris could start making house calls...kill me now!

Inflation has unfortunately forced me to increase my commission to 15% forced upon me by Tory pressure! Lol

I find myself in a strange position; it's Sunday night and as a rule Ann and I would be at our local club having a few drinks and chatting to our friends and watching one of our local acts performing. Instead I'm sitting in front of my computer playing Freecell and surfing while Ann watches her programmes (that I cant stand) on TV in the living room, all due to this coronavirus so we, like most others are self isolating ourselves and anyway our clubs and pubs and restaurants are closed.
As I've mentioned before, weekends are a negative time for Chordie. No-one posts anything. So I tried to write a song, failed! Watched a few things on youtube, bored (except for Grah's vids) So I don't know what to do. I may go to bed early and continue reading Spike Milligan's book Puckoon which is hilarious, I can highly recommend it for getting you out of a depression or bad mood. well that's my sermon for tonight.

Just listened to your Cheesemonger track and I have to say you have a wicked sense of humour laughed out loud at the "my mother was a fishmonger" part. All I can say is .... you're a crazy kid, keeping our spirits up at this bad time. Nice one.

That's an awful shock to wake up to. I'm no great country fan but that has to be the great triumvirate; Kenny, Glen Campbell and by no means least Glen Frey. So sad. Goodbye Kenny may you enjoy many duets with the greats that preceded you.

Great performance Grah, very wity lyrics. Good idea to put a new vid up every day or so. Are you going to re-write the words to Supermarket sex god to fit the new state of affairs?

Yep, I forgot about rain and coffee though I don't  drink much coffee I love the smell of it! I also love the smell of tobacco until it's lit.
Jim, snuggling is one of the things they tell us not to do... I'd rather die happy.
Please note I've only put in nice things, I think we're depressed enough without airing things we hate?
