Re: Critique please.... (19 replies, posted in Electric)
Russ you are right on,
I am not a great lead player but you need to know where the rythm is going, when listening to it I felt the lead player wasn't always aware of where the keyboards were going. As Russ suggested, practice sessions will tighten up your band and get your group groovin together.
We have a group that gets together monthly and it is amazing how the more times we run thru a song how the group gets together and starts sounding good.We usually have one person presenting his or her song and that person keeps the rythm and tempo going.
Russ is a Pro and gives good advice,so you have a good critic.

Re: Trying to pick an acoustic amp with two inputs (10 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
Hello,
I have a Fender Ultralight Acoustasonic that is very good but pricey around $1400. and I also have a great little 3 channel amp
it is a Peavey KB/A 50 Acoustic Amp.It has a mic input, and has two 1/4'' inputs it is designed for keyboards and acoustic guitars.I have used it with 2 guitars and 1 mic it is a 50 watt amp and is very nice for small gigs.Around $330.I know there are other Chordians using this amp and they have said good things also.
On to mics I used Shure mics for years and asked advice on Chordie and per Southpaw 41, tryed a Sennheiser 845 and I have been very happy with it.I think it was around $130.

Hey Badeye,
My guitars all have different personalities,my Martin hates temp changes and humidity changes, the epiphone is tempermental too but not quite as bad as the martin.I have a yairi that goes with the flow, she doesn't let anything bother her she is always ready to go.
I always tune up prior to playing also,I don't tune up by ear but I can usually can tell if I'm needing another tuneup.

I think most of us that use chordie users are guitar nuts and I have not seen any posts go unanswered relating to guitars.I play guitar and a little mandolin, but I don't have any answers for alot of banjo ,uke or alot of other stringed instruments.I have never seen a more helpful sight than chordie.

I am feeling kind of foolish,in my excitement to try my new mic out I used my epiphone guitar and had planned on using my martin, they sound so different and the martin sounds more Prine like on most of his stuff.

Hello Everyone,
"Hello In There" is a great song and I have been playing it for a long time and probably won't change my picking pattern on it.
There is a good tutorial on youtube by jordanthecat and his version is closer to the original than mine.We both use the same chords just picked alittle different.THe nice thing about Prine songs they can be strummed, picked or whatever and still be good.
Here's a couple links from jordanthecat www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6z0I5aBeXU&feature=channel_page
www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1mlkLeITt8&feature=channel_page
This song is a little tough to get the timing down on and the picking but when you do it will, make you smile, maybe cry and hopefully make you feel wonderful.

Hey Thanks Jeff,
As you can probably tell I'm still suffering from the nasty cold or swine flu or whatever.I wanted to try my new mic out so I went with it anyway.
I think the amazing thing about "Hello in There" is John was in his mid twenties when he wrote it. I was a senior in High School then and it was somethin special when his first album come out. There was a group of us Prino"s that new the words to all the Prine songs.
Hey Jets, if you like "Hello In There" check out "The Dutchman" by Steve Goodman. It was one of the few songs covered by Steve. It was written by Michael Smith. It really tells a story of an old man with Dimentia after world war 2.It is a great love story.
Steve Goodman and John Prine were best friends and John has some wonderful stories and things to say about Steve.
I saw John at the Redrock Amphitheatre last June and It was one of the best treats I've had!

Re: Tuning and Electronic Tuners (13 replies, posted in Acoustic)
Nela,
We usually tune up with chromatic tuners, then check each other out with a few chords to see if we have it right.Alot of times one of us will use a capo and play the same key in a different progression up the neck.
In regard to tuners I recently purchased a chromatic tuner that was alittle over a half step off.I didn't notice it right away,so I don't know if it come out of the box like that or not.I noticed it when I broke a b string on a kids guitar and thought i better check it out and sure enough it was a little over a 1/2 step off.The store replaced it and has sold 100's of them and hadn't seen it before but I guess If I had any doubts on a tuner I would check it with another source.
