......a new title. I "stole" it from another title called "Living and Dying in Three Quarter Time": Anyway, here it is and as always improvements and suggestions are very welcome. Key changes, maybe.....?

Thanks,

Bill

          Dying In Three Quarter Time

How come we never talk to each other ‘bout  dyin?
No one should do it alone and leave people  ’cryin’
There should be no regrets you did what you could just by tryin’
So how come we never talk to each other ‘bout dyin’?

You were happy sometimes, first time in love, felt like ringing a bell
But who knows what's waiting for you now is it heaven or hell
Is it one or the other and at your own end who can tell?
So tell all  your people to give you a smile as they throw a coin in the well

Bridge

Your wife and your friends (however many there are)
Stand at your coffin and wish they were drunk in a bar
“‘Cause it’s what he would want” they say to each other
As all of them head for their car.

So that’s all there is, a short life, but man it was good
Many a time you failed but you sure did what you could
So you oughta die happy, that’s the way to go and you should
Tell ‘em goodbye,  tell ‘em not to cry  and bury you deep in the wood.

Repeat bridge and first verse

PS: I think this would work well with certain words emphasized and yeah: I know it's a little weird and strange, but that's how my mind works today. Also, I've been in here several times and made some changes of my own, but I am still not satsified. Question: Would any of you sing/play this thing at a gig? I think I know the answer already: "Leave it as a POEM, Bill"!!!!!! smile smile smile

And to answer your question: Not very much I'm afraid - maybe once a month and maybe I shouldn't even be posting here, because I'm a way better drummer (I play "time") than guitarist and the major portion of my time is spent taking care of my wife, known as Dondra and alternatively as "She Who Must Be Obeyed". When I do play it's through my computer with a "teaching game" called Rocksmith 2014 on my Les Paul Studio - Epiphone version.

Thanks for the question and again, welcome!

Hey, Classical, I don't remember if I have ever welcomed you here (the dementia robs me of my memory more often these days), but if I haven't done so, I am doing it now.  And since you play classical, I for one would like you to tell me what price a good "starter" classical would cost and the brand name. By that I don't mean a "reduced size", I want the full sound of those nylon strings and my fingers are very thick so I need that wider fret board. In other words "Teach me something!" smile Also, are you on YouTube?

I like Marty Stuart: He's your modern Rockabilly and his "Nudie" suits are a trip. You've all heard of "Nudie" right? (No, not THAT kind! Get your minds outta the gutter! smile  )
Look him up and see the many suits he's made and for whom.

Good choice, "mr. badeye. smile

Any way to upsize them a bit?

Thanks,

Bill

....... how about y'all writing and playing in 3/4 time just for a "change-up"? Don't you love the old "Waltz  Rhythm"? As, I said,  only a suggestion from your Pal,

Comments left on Soundcloud for one of the many "Paul McCartneys" of Chordie. Awesome tune, buddy and I was kinda humming it to myself wondering if I might suggest you doing it in 3/4 time, but when we got home from shopping I gave it a listen and decided I wouldn't change a thing. I loved it! smile

To answer Kevin: The question you asked about Wes Montgomery is best answered by our Musical Theory Instructor, Russell Harding. I'm just a sorry sack of drummer who got tired of lugging his kit around and took up 6 string. Sorry! smile

In the beginning, Paul McCartney's Höfner bass had no truss rod and the poor guy was constantly tuning it. The truss rod is the saving grace of many a guitar/guitarist. Just my opinion> smile

Got me a smile so wide it's gonna decapitate me! ...... I know this site is just for strings, but it's all a matter of music, and once we play together, it doesn't matter if we're strings or percussion ----- there's your music.

Thanks so much

Just thought of a song for you, pickina6....... Maybe you'll remember (being from Tennessee and all) or maybe it'll be new to you, but here goes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulVQsQBenvs

Sorry about the quality, but turn it up a bit and relive some of "The Summer Of Love".

All the best

Never heard of "Pegleg", but man! Simple blues augmented by a Marine Band harmonica! I loved that little dance at the beginning and way at the start, the dog walking down that lonely dark street. Couldn't have been presented any better. Thank you for another great lesson in the blues, badeye!

....... Hey, Dude! Just wanted to pass along  that you got that "playing time" down. Right there with the bass every time I hear you three!

Would you mind sharing your set-up with me (if it's not a big secret)?

Thanks

Comments left, but so much sound coming out of THREE of you makes me long for the old days!!!

Nobody knows this, but for about a month I fronted a band called "B.C. And The Cavemen" and there were THREE of us - not as good as the Harding Trio of course, but with the sackcloth we had draped over us, and a little bit of black shoe polish we looked a little like B.C., the guys from the comic strip of the same name. Me on drums and vocals.

Of course our signature song was this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sz6IpmmYSXA

Sorry, but I couldn't resist: Three guys with such a full sound, as you guys! I wish we'd had a lead guitarist such as you, my friend Russell!

Same thing happened to me tonight (Thurs) with YT (I know: "Big News, Bill",) but let me explain...... tonight I was listening to a song by The Candymen, a group known to us 60's groups because they were from Rome. GA., not too far from Carrollton, where we live. As I was writing my comment, all of a sudden a song began by different group (Hip-Hop) and I absolutely could NOT get away from it! It was like one of those porn sites which (I am told) have those continuous pop-ups. Only it took over the WHOLE screen and gave me know options except to hear more of this crap or share it.

Moral: Be careful on YouTube. (I guess)

Bill - do you have Skype?  Have you ever used it?  I use it for work - CONSTANTLY - so I'm pretty versed in it now.  If you need any help setting it up, let me know.  Do you have a mic and webcam built into your computer (or attached to it)?  If so, you should be able to use it!  I highly suggest downloading the desktop version though, if you don't have it already.  The built in Windows 10 version of Skype is useless in my opinion.

Hey, Amy. I'm afraid I don't have it anymore, but we're supposed to play and sing together, yes? Sorry to say I still don't have anything but my STRAT which I play through my computer or the XBox. So I will have to bow out (again, dammit). Sorry, but can I watch y'all anyway?

Thanks

Bill
