Thanks for the welcome back. I've actually been back to playing for a couple years now. No pain in my hand, just a frozen joint on my index finger but as I said I've been able to work  around it. The pain involved was getting calluses to build on top of the scar tissue and since then it's been fine. I've also semi-retired so I've been playing more in the last couple years than I had for quite awhile. Purchased a small PA and have hooked up with a good friend who is an amazing guitarist. We've played a couple small parties and it seems like we may try to get some  actual paying gigs. Neither of us have a great voice but with some electronic help (love that vocal harmonizer) we don't sound too bad. I'm looking forward to  the Pa. gathering as it's only a couple hours from me and New York and Va aren't that far either. I've had a small gathering here the last couple years with people I'd been in bands with and people I just jam with. Nothing big, only goes for a day( or less, depending how many adult beverages are consumed) but it's a lot of fun. We'll have to see how things play out but I would love to set up a Clarion River jam. There's a small town right on the river where a building with a full kitchen can be rented for a small fee and is only 20-30 minutes from I-80. The river is fairly shallow there which keeps powered boats away allowing swimming, tubing, fishing and canoes. Lots of camping available (Cooks Forest State Park ) and hotels are close also. So if there would be any interest let me know and maybe set up for sometime in June. It could be a lot of fun and with everything there is too do there even the kids should be happy. keep on pickin

You need to talk with Amy as she had her gathering up in NY.  The BYG (Back Yard Gathering),  Dont forget, there is also Chordiestock around the March time Frame down in Tampa if you need to get out of the cold smile

Congrats on the pedal!  Berhingers may be a knock off company, but I have some of their stuff and love it!  There is also the Digitech BP90 that's great for DI.  My son has an older one i think its a BP 50 or something, takes battery's also (none of their other multi boxes do in the RP line), either way it really sounds good right into the PA or the dinky Fender bass amp we have.

Jerome- WAS THAT ALL THAT WAS WRONG? LOLOL what about the new one he cant get working?

Jerome -- From what I have read they have upgraded many of the features you speak about.  I also looked up on you tube track assignments and how to record the guitar into it.  For now its all bought and paid for, so if he truly gets into it deep, we can upgrade then.  I still have Reaper on the puter, and still cant figure it out LOL. So for me, FL is still a step up from Audacity.

Amy -- WILL DO big_smile  ( He actually found FL with a buddy in TX and they played around with it.)

Yep, gonna try the Earthwoods first. thanks for the reply.

I am not a MOD but from talking to some, I don't think the owner of the site is going to do anything. There is a workaround, you can download the free version of Songster and copy and paste and it will take care of it for you,  So its what I have done.  is it a little inconvenient? Yes. Does it bother me? Nope. ITS ALL FREE.  If I paid,  yes I would be upset.

P.S.  You have 104 post, Why not be an active member of the forum with a positive contribution and see how good this site still is.  Join the family, or keep lurking its up to you.

Thank you Dondra smile

SCOTT-- You have it all wrong. It is nothing like in your message.   AMY-- It was someone on a different page. Not on my friends list. I can`t even answer messages on my page. That is why I am communicating here.

Well that is good to know.  I am glad you are not booted, although alternate FB pages are easy to create. LOLOL

Welcome back! I think I remember talking to you about the Ovation 12 string  I was given a few years ago.  As you say there are work arounds, Like the Root 5 of F and C, and most all major or minor chords. The beauty of Power chords. big_smile

I have had no problems with face book,  Dino, change your security settings..     I cant believe this .  I read everything in here. and none of its offensive.  Come on MOD, time to loosen the collar a bit. No dirty words have been  put on here as they relate to the public tv censorship rules.  Joey has always been on the edge of what ppl call "not in line with normal trends", however I have never seen him be out of line in chordie.

Here is a new one to add,
http://download.cnet.com/FL-Studio/3000 … 30774.html

My son asked for this for Christmas, (Grandma is buying it for him) He wants to create beats (who knew, not the drummer, but my older son who plays guitar).  I looked into it and its got great reviews and a ton of vids on You Tube to learn from.  My Neighbor  (Joe, who I showed you his vid link and played guitar with) uses this for his main workstation also.

Has anyone else used FL Studio?

He is also getting a Behringer C1U usb mic, shock mount holder, pop screen and  some desk top mic stands. (they look a little small in the box, so if it doesn't work Ill use them for  micing (sp) speakers and get him one that looks like a desk lamp he can clamp on his desk.

His birthday is a few days later,  So I found a great deal on a midi keyboard controller  that a lot of ppl have given good reviews on for use with FL.

If he gets board with all this, the bonus is I can play with it too!

Agreed, I love watching her with Jeff Beck, they always seem to be having a good time and smiling at each other.  I just didnt list her because I had to go with my longest known favorites smile

I had not really thought about it till you brought it up and had to think on it for a few days, LOL  As I reviewed my guitars in the house I realized we have a tobacco burst AXL Strat, an Xaviere orange burst acoustic single cutaway,  The TAK  is sort of a tobacco burst also, and we have a orangeish burst Bass.  SOOOO I guess we like burst! LOLOLOL

My favorite is a Less Paul style with the redburst, or any that replicate any of ACE's guitars. big_smile big_smile (Maybe the Xaviere honey burst flamed maple XV555 big_smile  )

JIM,
As Phill mentioned, it really depends on how deep you want to go, country bass is different from rock bass, (hence my relating the stuff with Jerome and the 4ths). Rock bass can really just play the root notes in a rhythmic pattern like you would play rhythm guitar (Least thats what I always do) also playing the octave of  the same note (still working on that)
As I mentioned punk its pretty much roots at a faster pace, (Ramones, Sex Pistols) then you have the Clash style of punk which is almost Ska and its more funk soul oriented.  Jazz bass

So really its all about how you desire to play it.  Here are a few links to my favorite bass guys (there are a lot but for pure genious and rock steady  pure love and glory, this is my top 5)
5 Flea https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAsjR99Bu3s
4 Steve Harris _ I know this is harder than yo are looking for but just listen to the bass. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6D9R38aqj0
3 Billy Sheehan (the Steve Vi of 80s bass)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30YT0cG2EkE
2 Stu Ham - just great! LOL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4v11t2Rcb3c  And he gets 2 ,cause man! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnq3ZW6OyTI
1 John Entwhistle  jump to 0:35 on the time line https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wm2SjldKp3Y  (He was pioneer rock bassist!)

There are soooo many more I have not even got close to, but these are the guys I know best.
One honorable mention to a SOOO Criminally underrated bass player goes to IAN Hill from Judas Priest , Never a flashy guy, always just behind in the mix from the guitars, but he has so much going behind the guitars you really dont catch unless you are looking for it. jump  to 24:23 for victim of change simple yet great, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cXuozPcOKI  (and Halfords voice is not sounding good isolated either, but thats the beauty of of full band too LOL)  This whole show has been isolated.

What you need to look at is that these do not actually have Duncan's in them,  they are Duncan Designed (still they sound really good from the ones I have played with in the shop) If they were actually Duncans you could add about 300 to the price tag.  Just looking this up the guitar ranges from 225 to 299.  It is still a great guitar smile

OH an a comment on the Squire lines, the lowest quality line is the "Bullet"  VERY entry level.

Well the wood does play a big part in the ability for sustain and sound, but if you tweek everything correctly, Well then It can be done.  You ever see the beginning of IT MIGHT GET LOUD where Jack White makes a slide guitar with a pick up, a board and a pop bottle?  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnsQRpgYmaE

Well Dang Bill,  I don't know if I can say anything different, but Just YOU HAVE ONE GREAT GIFT THERE!   I got to meet Amy at CS2 and Lover her to death, I have only met Jim via Skype but man i think he could be a brother from another mother.  We were both the same Rate in the Navy, and we both have a similar sense of raw humor.  I look fwd to a day where I can com back east and meet him and hope to meet you and Dondra. (GA  is not too far from Asheville NC, unless you are way to the other side).  Between Chordie Stock, and Amy's gatherings, I just don't have the vacation time to cover it! LOL (Not to mention family vacations).

ENJOY THAT GUITAR! Like the Epi also,

First I will echo Bill and say Welcome smile
You may have already have done this, but here is the Boss link https://www.boss.info/global/support/by … 0b0cf7e35/

You may also want to go directly to a Boss users forum, or just call them. If you have done all this sorry for the redundant info.
Jerome or Russell may be able to help you as they are the resident mods and knowledge base guys on this topic.

AS I have mentioned before, Even with Squires, you have different quality lines.  Betty is a higher end Squire, (Affinity line) Still it was only 140 with the Sale price. Build quality is solid, Alderwood on this line. and of course with my pickup mods, it rocks a punch, (Running through Jerome's big Kustom  amp or Alan's big Fender it kicks some but) Running though my Bugera   it kills it also.  It may have Bondo (also known as fill and fair)  underneath but the fit, Finish and sound is great.  But there are some really crappy squires out there also.  I always fall back on, If it paly good  and feels good for you, its good.

I am just now getting thrown into learning a bit of Bass, I can do the punk and basic rock of just hitting root notes, but Jerome has been handing me the bass and showing me how to play 4ths and of course I know the 5ths.  4ths were a whole new thing for me.

Its a pretty fun AX, we have 2 haning on the wall downstairs.  A good low priced bass that sounds great is Musicians Friends house brand,  Rouge.  Great instruments at amazing prices! this is the one we have and LOOK ITS ON SALE 119! GREAT STEAL OF A DEAL http://www.musiciansfriend.com/bass/rog … 1?pfm=ac-a

We only have played it through a small Fender Bass practice amp, but it really has some good punch.  Out of the box you will need a set up, but after that,, Have fun!
The other bass is a generic Pbass copy but I picked it and the amp up for a steal. Has great action though!

PS, after listening to the  ZZ Top link, i let it roll into another great bass riff song! it went to Stranglehold by thet Nuge. another great Nuget bass line is this.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqXtPKRfu9U

You should be able to add it to your song book for further editing as well.  wink

Amy I dont get it, I have put it in in the right format< why wont it show up correctly, but thank you! I transferred it to songster and was able to print it prior to your doin it for me.  I am not the only one with this issue I think, because others have it showing up like this.

Well for popular demand and the fun of it, and getting Cory to play a steady beat for at least 3 min, we worked on Dark eyed town house.  he about has Alans beat pattern, so for them that want to hear it, its on sound cloud.

https://soundcloud.com/beamer326/dark-eyed-ttownhouse

vocals run into compressor sustainer  and digital delay stomp box and into pa.
Playing Epi SG, this one is set to a 80s hair metal setting in the digitech, also did some through the Citrus (orange amp) setting.   I need to work on getting my new verse enunciated better but its not too shabby smile

Very dramatic title, I like it. You allude to this mysterious recording when do we get to hear it?

I'm sorry Bill but I have to disagree with you. It's not the"hero?" Who is planning the shooting but the girl's fella ref 38 in my face?
Is it unrequited love or is the hero a stalker? So many variables. Every answer asks a question. Well done.

Phill

so many of you, in addition to being great musicians and lyricists lead one to believe you also have some unfinished (or finished) novels tucked away somewhere. If not, then where's all this imagination coming from? smile

Respectfully,

Bill

Well if that last post didnt answer the question, im not sure what will LOLOL  The imagination also comes from what ever form of escape-ism you are into.  for me its fantasy, the dark side being also POE,  and Morrison.  and then just all that anger that has no place to go but to paper,
