And the song which introduced me (and many others of you, I'm sure) to this great poet and singer: I am posting it here with lyrics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZX0CfFdk-jw

Bill

PS: Not many songs make me "rain". This one always did and still does.

I need to apologize to my good friend Pete for the above "review" of The Flying Chonchords piece. No it wasn't to my liking or taste, but I could have worded it in a much kinder way than I did. I am sorry, my friend. sad

Hey Friends

About 10 years ago I recorded a song "M For Maggie". It stinks royally, but what we did before we put it on disc is we added crowd noise to the background (to hide the stinkiness). I recently found the CD again and it has the original version without crowd noise on it and I wanted to upload it for you - I guess the cringing when I heard it went away with age. smile......... So is there a way to upload it off a cd?

Thank You!

Bill

PS: The crowd noise version's on YT. Someone uploaded it for me.

MORE  Marty Robbins, just like that!

As a matter of fact, more ballads performed by anyone who's a happy boy anyway!

Let's hear them, my friend!

The German Army (I myself am German on my Mother's side). This is an ARMY song, NOT a Nazi song. What many people do not realize is that many German soldiers did NOT swear allegiance to that idiot. However they still endured the pain following WWII.

Just listen, okay, and don't judge. This is just The Wehrmacht singing.

Well, Pete,

I may have missed the humor, but in my opinion this first 7:20 minutes sucked like a Hoover vacuum cleaner.

You know you're my friend, right? And I would never write something critical unless it stunk like a pile of feces?

This did.

Roger did some research, keepit real and I believe our friend NELA may have suffered a very serious cardiac injury. If this is incorrect, please - someone correct me.

Thanks and best wishes to our friend NELA for a quick recovery!

........ how about some military tunes, (blues, rock, whatever ----- "Fortunate Son" comes to mind)

And a Happy Veterans' Day to ALL of us.

Including my friend and favorite Marine, DOUG ----- Thought I'd forgotten, didn'tcha? He also happens to be the only Marine I know on Chordie, but the sentiment remains the same.....

EDITED: To make corrections. Such as adding "WE" and including "She Who Must Be Obeyed"'s name in the closing paragraph and signature! Got whopped upside the head for forgetting that! smile

One of the most eclectic and prolific poets has left us ("Suzanne", "Hallelujah", "Bird On A Wire" and so many others). Rest In Peace, Mr. Cohen. You will be missed.

Every time I think I understand the rules to this, I find something else I missed. smile I thought one suggested the song of the month; votes are cast and then the person who suggested it (the winner) gets to play/present it to the group.

No/Yes?

Thanks

Thanks for the link!

Comments left for you on SoundCloud, my friend, but the short of it is, I loved it and it's Righteous. To me, it's your poem (or song - I prefer to call it a song as you accompanied your words with your guitar). It's what Tyson7 wrote in his reply to one of my posts: PASSIONATE! It's my opinion that only you can improve it and you should keep it and not turn it over to "someone else".

I do not mean that someone else shouldn't cover it - not at all. I consider a cover a "compliment" and you certainly deserve that. An awesomely written and performed work, Pete.

EDITED: Due to extraneous words changing the meaning of what I intended to say. Sometimes I want to say one thing, realize it reads wrong, but forget to take it out. This is what happened here. The words were "too much" and referred to Joe's comment about passion. Thanks

Your Friend

Bill

I just want to say thanks for taking the time to listen and watch, Joe. Such a simple message from such a talented man. I liked especially what he said at the last and that he and the great Chet Atkins became pen pals. Can you imagine being in a "one on one" with your hero? And yes: passion is so important to all of us here and it's in every song we write and/or play. I did invite Tommy to drop in on us if and when he can. I think he'd like what he'll see here.

Thanks again for taking the time!

I went to the website listed at the very bottom of the above link, but it has since been taken down. Shame because I really like looking at the older guitars. I saw an Orpheum there I sure did like. smile

Thanks for the link, AJ, and welcome!

Pete, I left comments on The Tube for you, but I was curious: Is the YT a better "platform" than SoundCloud?  Take a look at my comments, but just on the face of it, I'd like it if there were a gospel piano and a few more verses to "fill" it out a bit more.

All the best to you and Maree!
