Brown Eyed Girl my all time number 1 favorite song. I can play it too. G C D Em Good stuff
Hello Everyone!!!!
Another post here reminded me about PFC. I looked them up on youtube and was amazed at what I found. They have done some classic songs and they are great. Amazing talents from these people. Very inspiring and moving to watch music around the world. I would highly recommend checking out their vids.
Either Stand by me, Last kiss,, or Free fallin.
Thanks for all the advice!!! I can't pull off the A-shape barre at this point. This is my first venture with more than one barre chord. I'll keep at it and it will happen.
I love this vid Tops!!!! Everytime I watch it moves me. Grandpa Elliot is so awesome!!!!!!!!
Sounds like a big project Baldy. What format would this be in ? Not everyone has recording equipment.
I totally see your point CJ. BUT... there are lots of less fortunate people out there that can never have luxuries, i.e. a guitar. Somewhere out there is a young kid with the talent to be the next Hendrix and change music forever. Without opportunity he will never realize this talent. So a guitar that hangs on the wall because of sentimental reasons is depriving someone of a gift that could impact thousands of people. Yes I know this little story is an extreme case but I see the betterment of people over a person. Even if this guitar was given to just a random person that learns to play it. While not changing the world I'm 100% positive it would affect more than just that person.
That's awesome Amy!!!! Maybe next time you'll be the "hired girl". Money seems to complicate matter tho.
It's a little unfair because you sing too. So if your playing sucks you can impress them with your vocals. For those of us who sing likes cats um... well you know, we are at a disadvantage.
Let us know how the next one goes.
I hear ya!!!!! I find very often that I'm too tired at the end of the day to do anything. alot of times I'll nod off in front of the computer. I have realized that I'm not playing as much as I used to or want to. I used to not miss more than 3 days a week but now it's more like 4 and for only 30 - 45 mins instead of a full hour +. I think it is just how life goes. The important things you make time for. The things that can be put off often are. I know that as of late I have been busier with other things so that's where my time and energy is going. Most days I think about playing all day when I'm working, but when I get home I just don't feel like it. It's just a phase and will pass. So in the words of Naolslager " Get back to playing".
Hi All!!!!
Anyone have some tips on sliding barre chords up the neck? Same shape just sliding up and down? I'm working on Dock of the Bay and it's tough. All F shape barre chords, going from the 3rd fret to the 7th to the 8th then 7th, 6th 5th. I have trouble stopping on the right fret and it squeaks alot. It's coming along just wondered if I was missing something easy?
But Deadstring, do you have a mug or tie that states that you are the greatest? With out one of those trophies you are an impostor yourself.
"What else" implies that we are good at playing. I can play, but proficient is not how I would label myself.
I can pretty much fix anything. That's how I got into construction. I'm good at knowing how things work and how they are put together. I'm good at problem solving. I'm a decent carpenter. I build my own furniture.
First thing I thought was the vent like Tyson. I've never come across a plugged vent but I know it does happen. To find out which vent is for what, cap them off one at a time and see which other sinks drain slow. That's the reason for vents, air behind water lets it drain properly. Like when pouring milk, if you try to dump it out you cut off the air going into the jug and it will glug out, if you pour slowly and let the air rush in it doesn't glug. I also thought of the bladder as Pix did. I've used them before and they are much easier and cleaner than a snake. As for the back pressure, it could be the air from the vent forcing the water back instead of going down the drain. Because you have a stoppage somewhere as soon as you make an opening, i.e. taking off the trap, you provide an escape and so your trap has now become your drain. The washing machine drain line should have it's own vent since it puts out so much water. I would first try the bladder down the drain in question. Is there a cleanout somewhere at that drain? If so use it. Let us know how it goes.
Hop it was a natural fall and not due to some sort of substance abuse. You know how rock stars can be!!!!
Welcome Darlene!!!!
If you can access the net on your Ipad then you can use your songbook on it as well.
Hi Winky and welcome to Chordie!!!
Go on Youtube and search for guitar lessons.
Justinguitar.com is an awesome site to check out.
Guitarnoise.com is another.
Good luck and like Jerome said practice practice practice.
It's been awhile since we've heard anything about the package. Hmmmm, let's let Zurf answer this one.
I agree. Maybe try to talk him onto selling it. Tell him the story you just told us.
It's been out for years. I watched it on cable so I'm sure it will be on again.
I just watched this again yesterday and what a great story it is. For those of you that don't know, The Funk Brothers (no brothers, but a large group of guys) were the studio musicians for Motown. As we know, most Motown artists back in the day were only singers. So the Funk Brothers played the music for so many top hits. Definitely a level of musicianship to aspire to. Too bad these guys didn't get more recognition. Hence the name "Standing in the Shadows of Motown".
Usually when I am going to watch a video I will pause it and let it load up for a few minutes. That way I can watch it as it loads the rest of the way. No stopping and starting. Hope that helps.
I'm going out on a limb and saying that he is 57. I'm guessing he was born in 1954 (KAP 54).
Happy b-day wishes to you!!!!
I don't mean to knock you Auxi, but really????? You've conquered guitar and now don't see the point in playing? Don't know how long you've been playing but you can play most songs? Either you are a prodigy, have been playing for 60+ years or you're leaving something out.
There have been some great suggestions about other styles to learn already mentioned. I'll add the blues. It's all about scales.
I heard it from a little Guppy, I mean birdie.
Happy big 70!!!!!! You're twice as .....uh...... mature as I am. Is that the correct term to use when talking about a seniors age?
You can't blame the doctor, you could have scheduled the appt. for yesterday or tomorrow. Did they at least say Happy B-day or give you a lollipop?
I was thinking sticky also Butch. Experience is invaluable.
