Roger, I am not that far from PORTUGAL next week. A HOLIDAY in NARBONNE France, so has he DUESENBERG guitars? I felt in love with a 49er and we expect a baby.
I only know that you will be happy. If he pays you, you can ask an instrument

Topic: Another mystery for me (1 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
There is a quit big difference, indeed, between the USA and EUROPE.
So my question is
- Is it true that a lot of "talented and gifted" singers are discovered in CHURCH? like USHER, and a lot more.
It is very complicated for me all the religions in your country.
Some like CHRISTIAN METHODIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH versus AFRICAN METHODIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH , AMERICAN BAPTIST CHURCH......
Do people play music, like guitar, a phenomenon I discovered here on CHORDIE, and which is brand new to me.
- What kind of songs are played in CHURCH?

Thanks a lot.
TORTURE your brains.
OASIS is an in-between because NOEL = the guitarist was a roadie for the Inspiral Carpets, and joined oasis later.
Their violent behavior is not since they play together and NOEL was at the age of 13 already a little criminal. When NOEL joined he had 1 condition: that he would become the band's sole songwriter and leader, and that they would commit to an earnest pursuit of commercial success.

SGinCYQX I noticed that you are from GENDER, NEW FOUNDLAND, in CANADA correct?
If you look at the map it seems all so close, like Quebec Montreal.
English French? AND AN SG FREAK?
I do the same more or less. I have 25 guitars to INSURE THAT = giant amount.
Mine are INSURED as "DECORATION", which is in fact true. I pick a guitar and I can play a while on this guitar. The guitars of the week: Martin D-15 (mahagony dark brown) Gibson LP custom 1978.
I take pictures, but to have a serial number INSIDE the acoustic?
After that I save them in word and once all my guitars are photographed and discribed, I'll print them out to save them in 3 copies.

What do you think about this "system"?
If I am shoplifting in a musicstore and I have a Fender & a Gibson, in CALIFORNIA, but sad, I get caught. Probably ending up in jail.
1 year after release from prison they arrest me in OREGON, again with a few guitars, to end up finally in ARIZONA same crime, or here hit my girlfriend with a squier (Fender & Gibson are too expensive).
IS THIS = LIFETIME SENTENCE? or does it depend from state to state?
The answer is intriguing me because I am not so familiar with the US laws.
It would be nice to see some answers

Topic: MUSICAL BROTHERS 2 BUT IN DIFFERENT BANDS. (3 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
We had a thread about brothers playing in the same band.
This has to be really frustrating for a lot of them.
CCR started with TOM FOGERTY who was the leader for years, until the moment that John Fogerty's songs became a lot more important and he took over as leader = frictions.
Here I wanted to know more about musicians who don't play in the same band, or only for a short period. AND WHICH BROTHER IS THE BEST?
- JOHNNY WINTER versus EDGAR WINTER
- STEVIE RAY VAUGHN versus JIMMY VAUGHN
- NEIL FINN versus TIM FINN
- MICHAEL SCHENKER versus RUDOLF SCHENKER ( Michael, was co-founder of the SCORPIONS, a band in which his older brother remained, while he had his own band The MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP and UFO)
1) WHO DO YOU THINK IS THE BETTER GUITAR BROTHER.
2) DO YOU KNOW OTHER GUITAR PLAYERS WHO ARE BROTHERS (or SINGER, BASS, DRUM) IN DIFFERENT BANDS?

I hope you like this thread, on a day we all go.
I forgot 2 very IMPORTANT songs
- DON'T FORGET TO REMEMBER ME by the Bee Gees
- INTO TEMPTATION again Crowded House
Crowded house is definitely one of the greatest bands, often compared with the Beatles concerning some numbers.
BUT THIS GIVES ME 9 SONGS, and that's a maximum, or play a "compilation" 90 seconds for every song.

Topic: WHAT SONG YOU WANT TO BE PLAYED ON YOUR FUNERAL (19 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
THIS IS A STRANGE TOPIC. The day after my car crash in 2000, I had the same age as my father when he passed away. And even stranger is the ideas and questions you have, like HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL COME TO MY FUNERAL? When my dad was gone, there were more people outside than inside the church.
Isn't it strange: WE ARE BORN TO DIE. This is the ONLY thing that's certain.
What are we doing here because you'll die anyway.
Will we come back?
I BELIEVE IN REINCARNATION.
For those who believe there is NOTHING and if this is true, I will become a burglar, and steal a fortune, I won't be judged if there is nothing. No more philosophy.
This topic is written inspired by my mother who insists (almost 78 years) that on her funeral she want some great music (= Canon of Pachelbel, Ave Maria by SCHUBERT or BACH-GOUNOD, you need to know your classics!) followed by a festivity, in the best restaurant, and have fun.
Well, on my funeral the same thing. REMEMBER who I was, and please don't cry. I wasted already 4 lives. Still STANDING.
- EASY?
- DIFFICULT? the emotions will be there and it is a relieve if you do what she asked.
MUSIC ON MY FUNERAL? THIS IS A LIST OF SONGS I WOULD LOVE TO BE PLAYED.
1) KNOCKIN' ON HEAVEN'S DOOR (He won't let me in anyway)
2) DON'T DREAM IS OVER by Crowded House a GREAT song.
3) WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER
4) THE SHOW MUST GO ON both by QUEEN
5) LET IT BE by the BEATLES.
6) DESPERADO by the EAGLES.
7) UNCHAINED MELODY by the RIGHTEOUS BROTHERS
THERE IS AN IMPORTANT DIFFERENCE IN CHOOSING SONGS, Europe versus UK versus USA
Highway to Hell is very high ranked as is Stairway to heaven
GIVE ME YOUR LIST it isn't difficult.

Re: Where is the origin of the WORD "METAL" (6 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Great, but Ken I associated bells and rings, like you wrote more with punk music.
PUNK = reaction on the period right after HENDRIX was dead. WHY a lot of bands gave 20 minutes long solos and there started that new phenomenon, SHORT songs or political or senseless lyrics.
I only realised the definition of punk 10 years after (NO NOT ALVIN LEE) their huge success.
That was a period I was 21 years BUT NOT A FAN OF PUNK. On holiday in London, Rome they were all so scary, some in army uniforms with a colored MOHAWK haircut, in all colors of the rainbow.
There is ONE kind of metal I hate: singers with a weird low "graveyard" voice. Sepultura is the first band popping up now.

Topic: HELP!! Someone has stolen my guitar (3 replies, posted in Electric)
THIS TOPIC IS IMPORTANT FOR YOU FOR ME, FOR EVERY GUITAR PLAYER
What if they steal your guitar: SAFETY TIPS AND TRICKS, PREVENTION!!???
I read an article 1 minute ago and I was really SURPRISED in a negative sense
They told that about 1.000.000 instruments are stolen each tear.
I believe it is a growing business, if you see the prices asked for VINTAGE & COLLECTOR guitars. As BACKSTAGE DOC for artists, I could go on stage, and amazing what you can see there.
- Some bands had behind the curtain at least 50 guitars, even more.
- There were approximately 4 different brands, and a lot of guitars are almost identical.
On a Rolling Stones concert, I saw at least ten TELECASTERS, Keith loves them.
NO SECURITY AGENTS, only the "GUITAR MAN" who tunes guitars in a normal tuning and some in open tuning. Switching guitars: every 2 or 3 songs. The man who tunes is often on stage watching the band. If you have FAST hands+time it's not difficult to grab a guitar and disappear.
WHAT DO YOU DO CHORDIANS TO PROTECT YOUR GUITAR?
- INSURANCE = very expensive, even 1 or 2 guitars.
- A BACKDOOR = Insurance as decoration.
- What about prevention? I take a picture from my guitar & serialnumber
BUT WHAT WHEN IT HAPPENS? Writing to every store? eBay? I don't know
THIS TOPIC CONCERNS ALL OF US, WHAT DO YOU DO?

Re: D E L E T E (8 replies, posted in Songwriting)
Not really, it's something for me, of course every chordian post his song to be heard of seen.
If the song is PERSONAL and I post the song I don't post them to get response. I was just a little bit in a sad mood (I'm VERY VERY sensitive the last weeks, confused, scared, anxious because too much happened, it's not funny to loose conscience in a big store, caused by pain + recurring and mysterious fever, no aids, with White Bloodcells 3x higher than normal, can be leukemia). Every person posting a song want to show their song to others, if not, you don't post it. And seeing that it was 150 songs ago, since there was no reaction I decided to stop posting songs. My intention was never LOOK WHAT A GREAT SONG, I post a song for particular reasons, to know if the words are correct, to see if the chords were matching. I love what I write, it's just "a kind of loneliness" you feel, a "be neglected feeling". I hope this is the correct answer. I know that a lot of my topics are loved, I get mails from people asking me where I get all this inspiration. IT IS NOT YOU IT IS ME and the situation makes me TOO sensitive, I still have a few hundreds of songs, but I use often special chords, or chord progression, impossible to post them.
I really hope to come to the US next year Toney and PLAY.

This is my TURF ZURF (sooooorryyyy).
ASHISU84 I think it went all wrong having problems with your fingers, because you PRACTISED TOO MUCH.
The only suggestion I make is = stop playing a while. How long, it depends on a fast/slow healing.
Blisters gone, no longer very sensitive skin:
- START PLAYING AGAIN
- DON'T TORTURE YOURSELF means
- STOP when you start feeling the "BEGINNING" of pain, SO NEVER TRY TO BEAT YOUR BODY.
- If you have a red and painful skin caused by lying in the sun, will you still (having a very sensitive skin caused by the sun) lay in the sun the next day?
PREVENTION, better to play 4x15 minutes in stead of 60 minutes

MusicalTeresa, listen to the answers above.
Is it wrong to suggest WHY NOT AN OLDIE? There will be probably enough Britney SPEARSNY songs
Be original, take a song easy to remember.
If the selection is without music so only your voice take a song you can remember and reproduce word by word. AND because it's X-FACTOR like ARKADY sais, FOCUS YOURSELF ON YOUR LOOKS.
A visit to a "beautifarm" can help a lot.
MIX THESE TOGETHER: LOOKS + SONG and maybe I'm writing to a star. (IF SO, DON'T FORGET US!!!)

Topic: D E L E T E (8 replies, posted in Songwriting)
When I see that I need to go back 5 pages = 130 songs, to see the last song without reaction,
it tells more than enough about me, I CAN'T WRITE A SONG, and I stop to waste all my time. It's
- difficult
- rubbish
- a bad song
Since it takes me almost 3 hours to write a song, I realise that I WILL NEVER fit in that picture.
IS IT THE MELODY
IS IT THE LYRICS
The only thing I ever wanted is getting CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICS. Wrong word, wrong phrase, wrong chord AND a difference in culture.
It's not that I'm hurt, what would you do if nobody likes the song?
I didn't post a song having recurring fever and the extremely painful position to write things down in Word, using my guitar to see if the chords match with the lyrics.
MY conclusion is: I AM NOT A SONGWRITER, so I don't belong here in this thread.
Don't tell me something different I DO NOT BELONG HERE ON THIS SONGWRITING TOPIC. I read what other chordians written and no way I'm 3 leagues down compared to your songs

Topic: IMPORTANCE OF LEFT HANDED GUITARS: NECESSARY OR NOT (6 replies, posted in Acoustic)
In the acoustic category, is a LEFT HANDED GUITAR REALLY NEEDED?
The only difference is the PICK GUARD.
If you see the GIBSON "Everly brothers" that pickguard covers everything around the soundhole.
Isn't it much easier to "glue" a pickguard on the other side?

Sounds stupid, but I don't know where that word is used.
They didn't play metal guitars I suppose. This are really "painful" questions, WE ALL KNOW THE NAME and a lot of bands play it WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT it means.
I know that it is LOUD and HARD PLAYED music but why METAL and not DIAMOND (is HARDER)
SO THINK CHORDIANS, THINK

Re: SONGS: THE MUSE, does she exist? (5 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Well James is this a joke or for real that NEW ORLEANS named 9 streets to the 9 muses?
When I started the topic and googled muse, I was really surprised to see the "story" of the muses.
If you are driving your car, DRIVING over a bridge, you can hear a kind of rhythm, the noise made by your car inspiring you? I did, and it was a really nice song. At home I remembered still a few things. So what if the "muse" hits you while driving? Do you register the basics on a cell phone or do you have always a "recording device" on the passenger's seat? Dictaphone, a zoom H4...
Or does the melody stays in your brains. It is really "dangerous"to continue listening to music in your car, your song shall be influenced by other songs.

Is it possible that a "tribute band" (and I noticed on youtube that most such bands are from Australia) is playing the songs, I also saw a version of NOVEMBER RAIN and closing your eyes I DID hear AXL ROSE, but besides the TRIBUTE song, play own stuff?
A coverband plays only covers.
WHICH BAND IS MOST COVERED? The Shadows maybe?

Since I never performed in public, no busking, no bars no concert hall, it is all new to me.
Because it's all new and knowing that there are CHORDIANS who performed live, I wanted some information.
- What is used most: a COMBO AMP or an AMPHEAD with CABINET.
- Which of these two is most popular, even to play at home
- What is the difference between a MARSHALL combo or a MARSHALL HEAD + CABINET.
How to create a sound in perfect harmony = all instruments + equippement to sing at the same sound volume, like the drummer not playing louder, or guitarist you can't hear?
Can someone help me here?

Topic: SONGS: THE MUSE, does she exist? (5 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
IN ANCIENT GREECE:
The muses are a sisterhood of goddesses or spirits, their number set at nine by Classical times, who embody the arts and inspire the creation process with their graces through remembered and improvised song and stage, writing, traditional music, and dance.
There were three original Muses: Aoidē ("song" or "voice"), Meletē ("practice" or "occasion"), and Mnēmē ("memory"). Together, these three form the complete picture of the preconditions of poetic art in cult practice.
In Delphi three Muses were worshiped as well, but with other names: Nētē, Mesē, and Hypatē, which are the names of the three chords of the ancient musical instrument, the lyre.
Isn't this an amazing story? See this:
The canonical nine Muses, with their fields of patronage, as established "since the Renaissance", are:
* Calliope (the 'beautiful of speech'): chief of the muses and muse of epic or heroic poetry
* Clio (the 'glorious one'): muse of history
* Erato (the 'amorous one'): muse of love or erotic poetry, lyrics, and marriage songs
* Euterpe (the 'well-pleasing'): muse of music and lyric poetry
* Melpomene (the 'chanting one'): muse of tragedy
* Polyhymnia (the '[singer] of many hymns'): muse of sacred song, oratory, lyric, singing and rhetoric
* Terpsichore (the '[one who] delights in dance'): muse of choral song and dance
* Thalia (the 'blossoming one'): muse of comedy and bucolic poetry
* Urania (the 'celestial one'): muse of astronomy
So all these NINE muses with their specific task. They are HELPING AND INSPIRING YOU to create a beautiful song. There are only nine so it is IMPOSSIBLE that they inspire every song writer.
Where do you get inspiration? In love, nature, protest in fact even a mosquito can be subject for songs. MY THEORY + IF IT TAKES LONGER THAN 20 MINUTES YOUR SONG WON'T BE GOOD.
In my case, I have the "car crash" muse, inspiring me to write down what I have in mind.
HOW DO YOU SEE WRITING A SONG?

Re: WHO IS THE MOST PRODUCTIVE SONGWRITER IN THE LAST 50 years (18 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
WITHOUT DOUBT: "YESTERDAY" is the most covered song in the world.
Sometimes THE COVER is BETTER than the original. 1 BIG EXAMPLE = WITHOUT YOU.
This is a nice question for a quiz. WHO WROTE WITHOUT YOU? well a group named BADFINGER written by HAM and EVANS and a perfect example of co-writing.
Evans had strophes but not a chorus or refrein, and Ham had a strong chorus but couldn't find the verses of the song, it was a kind of coincidence.
If you listen to the Badfinger version (on youtube) it is a pop song but not a great one, BRUSQUE singing no real passion, until Harry NILSSON covered it convinced that the song was written by his BEST FRIENDS "THE BEATLES".
I just found an item concerning THE PLACE TO BE FOR SONGWRITERS: The BRILL building, I quote TWO MAJOR things about that building.
The building contained everything a musician needed. One could find a songwriter, cut a demo, promote the record, and cut a deal with radio promoters all within this one building.
Similar to a regular office with employees working in small cubicles, there would be a number of songwriters sitting in small spaces writing songs, while next to them was the next songwriter writing away on another song.
I knew since long that there was a place where songwriters worked as "employees"and now, since I started this topic I found CONFIRMATION. Coincidence?

Tibernius, the fender amp is a FENDER CYBER AMP, and one of the pioneers, of a whole amp generation.
IT IS CALLED AN HYBRID AMP, both DIGITAL and TUBES. You are able to have the genuine tones of legendary tube amps, plus the effects and flexibility of digital amp technology.
And believe me the day I bought it I compared it with other amps, fender amps included. I played it there in an isolated room together with a man from the store. FOR all the PURISTS, I didn't hear the difference with the cyber in a Bassman position and the real bassman, later I compared this amp with some others from friends = RESULT no difference. It is an amazing amp, do you really need such an amp, probably not, but on the other hand there are so many possibilities.
It is a very strong amp, you will never be "over-played" by a drummer.
HERE IS A LINK FOR THE FENDER CYBERTWIN:
