Nice job, and a good balance between vocals and guitar.

I love the line: "An old familiar ghost he has returned". I have a cat called Ghost who has been missing for four days. I was reading and listening to this just after I had just found her, hungry, thirsty, but safe.    smile

Look again, please Bob,

The formatting of this song was wrong, the chords had () brackets instead of [] ones and all apostrophes were question marks. I do not know the song so I do not know if it is correct  but certainly the formatting is and it looks OK now I have edited it.

Well done, a definite improvement. The lead at the end is a nice touch and the balance for the solo is fine. The overall balance is better but the vocals are still too low. Your guitar is more prominent than your voice; it is a song, so the most important thing is the vocals, the guitar should be an accompaniment to your voice and at the moment it is the other way round. It is often modesty, when you are more confident with your playing than your singing, that leads to this. Don't be shy, we want to hear your voice. smile

Again it is much better than your first attempt.

Apart from the vocal level being a little low it is a very good recording. The other way around this is use Audacity (an enormously expensive piece of software, like FREE smile) and record guitar and vocals separate you can then adjust the levels to get the balance right.

Well done,

Roger

Having been away to the arctic UK for a couple of weeks I have not had chance to listen to this before. It is a very moving song with a great performance from Phill and the images add to the atmosphere of the performance.

Well done to both songwriter and performer.

Whilst with my daughter in Lancashire I went past a music shop, well you cannot just go past so I went in as I wanted a set of strings anyway. On looking round I came across a used Vintage 12er with a hard case that just screamed for me to save it. So I bought it.

I was playing for my lunch at a friend's in Lincoln yesterday and she took this shot, the only one I have to prove my NGD claim.

I am sure she said "Yes" so I wish all three of you all the very best.

Nylon strings are renown for stretching for ages. When I replace strings on a classical I will leave it tuned up two steps overnight i.e.: F#, B, E, A, C# and f# (I tune it normally for use during the day) and after a couple of nights I find most of the stretch has been taken out of them.

Gidday Chordie writers.
I`ve been following progress on your song.
I`ve taken up Roger on the idea of doing a cover. done it in two takes so it`s far from perfect and i`ve done it
with my limitations.
How about some more versions now i laid myself bare!
it`s on my soundcloud site for a few days.

Great stuff Brian, a completely different song, that is how is should be; your ideas and your music. I am so pleased you have taken time to do it so now let's see what someone else can do.

Hi Ark,

Friends of Chordie is still active on MySpace but I have not accessed it for ages and, when I did to put this song up, I found it was a nightmare to use so I abandoned the idea. It took me ages to find 'Wrapped in Happiness' and I gave up trying to find the others on there.

Thanks guys for your over generous comments about my music and recording. I posted elsewhere that I had not done anything for a while, mainly because I am not good at writing lyrics, so you guys gave an ideal platform to start from.

If anyone else has a different idea of how this song should be please get writing your music, make your own arrangement and recording, I would be more than pleased to hear it. I remember several years ago James McCormick wrote a song which he, Ken (Upyerkilt) and I recorded independently and three very different songs emerged from the same chords and lyrics. So don't be shy smile.

Thanks again

igwtmusic.

Two things my friend,

First. I have e-mailed you privately about your query.

Secondly. This should really have been started as a new Topic as it has nothing to do with the Fable's original question.

Take care,

OK I had some time on my hands yesterday so I decided to look at this collaboration.

Here then is the result of my time spent and my interpretation of this song. I made some minor changes  for it to fit my music, the biggest change was having to make one verse into two smile.

The drum and bass are courtesy of Band-in-a-Box but only I can take the blame for the guitar work and vocals lol.....

My recording is here: https://soundcloud.com/roger-guppy/mini-mized

I [A]moved on down to where hot [F#m]cars were racing,

Big [D]dirty engines throwing up [E]smoke,

[A]Everyone laughed at my [F#m]little Mini Cooper,

Said it [D]looked like a [E]bit of a [A]joke.

Behind [A]Porche and Ferarri I [F#m]took up my place,

But [D] they were 'bout to[E] get mini-[A]mized.

To [D]win any [E]race you just [A]gotta be [F#m]wise,

Don't [D]matter how [E]big those other [A]guys,

'Coz [D]big ones [E]fall, even [A]super[F#m]sized,

A [D]thing I like to [E]call, you bin mini-[A]mized.[A]

I was [A]off down the straight like a [F#m]bat out of hell,

And I [D]knew that this could be [E]fun,

And [A]one by one the big boys [F#m]fell,

As I [D]let those [E]horses [A]run.

I'll wipe that [A]smile from your face you [F#m]big disgrace,

Coz [D]everyone can [E]see,

This is [A]no chariot race and you [F#m]can't keep pace,

With my [D] little Mini [E]Cooper and [A]me.

I was [A]red lined in third so I [F#m]slammed it into fourth,

The [D]flames from my pipes blew like a [E]torch,

Layin' [A]rubber in fourth as I [F#m]aimed for the line,

I [D]knew that I'd left the [E]big boys be[A]hind.

To [D]win any [E]race you just [A]gotta be [F#m]wise,

I have to add here that after recently spending a weekend listening (and playing along) to Ed's songs, that he does write some thought provoking and some very amusing songs.

As for me, I write some quickly and others are worked on for ages, although I have not completed anything for ages. I must make time to get something finished, but since retiring I seem to have far less free time on my hands.

This is very strange!!

Last night I could not see the photo and I went in to 'edit to check that Joe had entered it OK (which he had) and when I came out I could see the photo of a dog lying in a guitar case. I was thinking it had been a temporary glitch on my lap top until I saw everyone else's message this morning.

I just tried posting the photo myself and I could see it fine on 'preview' but it was not there when I 'submitted' it. I then deleted my post and guess what? I can no longer see the photo in the original post.

This is weird!!

I have a mid 70's Melody 12er and I use one of my Jim Dunlop 83CB capos when I have a need with no problem. I have to add that she does have a zero fret and an incredible low action which may make it more suitable.

Yes Sammy, very easily.

Click the white square box to the left of the song title (or titles) that you want to move. Go down to the bottom of the page. To the left of the box with 'move' written in it select which songbook you want to move the song(s) to. Then click the green 'move' in the box and Hey Presto, it is done.

I am lucky, I never have to practice as I teach between one and four hours a day so I get a lot of playing done as a matter of course. Then again, I am geriatric and retired so I have a good excuse for not practicing but you, Young Zurf, have no excuse. Get your finger out and get them to work on that guitar of yours.
