Here is my attempt at Heart of Gold, Neil Young. Hit a few bum notes singing as I am still focusing on learning guitar and the little tricky bits (well tricky for me lol). Hoping to get a chance to re-record this one but with it bucketing down tonight, my recorder is picking up all the rain noises, so no more recording tonight. A busy week ahead for me, so not sure I will get another chance to record it, so decided to put this up anyway.

With what shall I fix it?, hey John, hey John!
hmmm you get the picture
A great song written by you Jim, there are heaps of lines in your song that are really descriptive. Well written, and can definitely visual the scene that caused you to write the song.
zurf, nice to see you back here. Comments left on sound cloud but I thought you did a great cover. I thoroughly enjoyed it
lol, now that brought a smile to my face reading that Great stuff Phill
JIm ..... wow you have done it again! That song made me feel for that woman, her pain and wondered what was going on in her life . So well written once again Jim and some great lines in there.
arkady .... that was so good. I listened a couple of times to it and thoroughly enjoyed it. I didn't think it was rough at all. It took my imagineation away to where I could imagine people dancing to that in a garden in that lovely old fashioned style of Royalty back in the day where they would curtsy and bow before joining hands and proceeding to gently dance around the garden. So nice, well done.
Peatle ........ this is a really good one of yours. I know I enjoyed it last time I listened to it too. I just love the slide guitar, it has such and awesome sound and you play it very well. Makes me want to learn to play one but don't know if I have that natural "blues" sound vocally ......... one of your talents is your blues style. Well done you
Grah1 ..... You and your friend should be very proud of that piece, well written and performed by you both, good one

CG ... thanks so much for the comments, appreciate that I am trying and getting there ever so slowly with guitar and alway enjoy the singing.
Wow what a friend! that is amazing!
Tig ... thanks so much. Yes good old King of the Road, an oldie but a goodie. I always remember my parents singing this at parties
CG ........... not who your comment was for but thanks for commenting anyway and its always good to see you make an appearance in here. Hope to hear some of your music on here one of these months
So here are a couple of Covers (or should I say attempts at covering) another two songs for this month. Gee I must be on a roll, 3 songs covered this month! (shock )
King of the Road https://soundcloud.com/ukulelejan/king-of-the-road
Nice ones neo .......listened to them both yesterday but didn't get a chance to comment until today. We must have both had the same song in our heads as I did King of the road as well
Hi Diana, welcome to Chordie, lovely to see another lady join us on here
HI Tig, thanks for feedback and agree, it does make the song sound Happy lol which is not how the song is meant to go at all. I would love to have sung it slowly and hauntingly but my guitar skills are not up to sounding at all good other than a very boring strum. Maybe I should have just sung it no instrument? but then that kinda defeats the purpose of Chordie which is to use an instrument of some sort. Oh well, maybe when my guitar skills attain a better standard for slow songs lol Ahem I still avoid songs with that dreaded F chord too (shush)
Here is my cover of Captain Kennedy by Neil Young.
I ended up singing it alot faster than the original version by Neil Young, simply because I couldn`t even begin to play it like Neil does let alone sing it like him. I hunted high and low to find the fantastic tabbing/ picking he uses for the intro and outro and in fact through out the song but to no avail. So after singing it in various styles, including in a slow haunting style which I liked, I realised without the awesome tabbing Neil does, it just didn't sound right with the strum I was using..... so decided to make it my own version and faster ................ AND still learning guitar.
Well that first one Strummerboy certainly fits in with this months category and was a bit of a laugh, I hadn't seen that before
Well written TF.
The Media and its information or misinformation these days really provides speakers, writers, poets, songwriters a full menu of choice morsels to choose from ........... handed to us on a platter it seems ..... for those so inclined to speak, sing and write.
Jim ..... I have no idea how to play jazz either ....... I think it is probably a matter of just sitting and learning (google is our friend these days ) I agree with Peatle`s comment, so many of your songs can take on many different styles. I am alway in awe of just how many songs you write. I thought your vocals were absolutely fine with this song too
landav5 thanks for the suggestion and great to see you join in here Just in case your interested, this month of June which if you look in FSOTM for June, we are doing covers of songs such as this about Captains etc. If your into doing covers, we would love to hear you do a cover of this song in that thread
Grah1 ........ that was so good. You and the boys did a fantastic job!
