I think this is one of the coolest innovations to come along in electric guitar tech in a long time. I've never really been happy with any of the electronic / stompbox sustain gadets, as the sound never sounded natural. This Fernandes circuit actually emits a pulsing magnetic field from their neck pickup, which keeps the actual string vibrating until the player stops it. The bridge pickup then just operates as it usually does, so the the sustain is purely from the guitar itself:

Here's the whole rundown from Fernandes' site, and I see it can now be bought as a kit and installed in any guitar ... very interesting:

TF thanks for the links I will take a look later when I have more time I like the idea smile

The closest one to me at the moment is Portland, at several locations.  That's like a 170 mile round trip and a dose of traffic I can live without.  But that does not mean that I couldn't get to gether with a few of the local atrists and the Parks Department and organize a gathering here.  Might have to consider that in between other events already on my schedule for June...... could be tight but I know people!!!

Doug that's not a bad idea, I know several musicians in the area and I might have get in touch and see what they think about it smile

First I've ever heard of this, Russell, but it looks like a heap o' fun! I gather that it's great big "open mike" event? You could take your C9, looper, Trio, and other gear, and do a full duration blow out version of "In-a-Gadda-da-Vida" ... just kidding, my friend. With your talent & know-how, I'm certain you'd be a hit.

TF not quite sure what to make of it yet and the nearest place there hosting is in Madison Wisconsin about 60 miles away I need to know more about it but it dose sound like fun. smile

This is a nation wide event if you scroll down you can check out what is happening in and around the area you live in I have looked into it a little  I don't think there is a fee just a need to register and donations are not obligatory I would like some feedback on this as I am considering participating tell me what you think Chordians smile

alternately as there is  3  channels  you  could  pre  record   3 chord  progressions  for  3  songs  providing   it  doesnt loose  the  information when switched off then it  would  be  a  good  live  aid  for  an open mic performance  where  you only  get  to  play  3  songs  as  a rule .

I have not looked into that function I am guessing tempo might be a concern let you know smile

Watching the vid i get the impression its more of a practice tool or a recording aid than something to be used in a live performance as you would have to record your chord progresion at the start of each song.Am I correct .

Graham that is correct you have to create each song from scratch BUT I also have a Boss RC-20XL loop station and it holds 13 progressions so I can create a set and save each song, and with my F5-S footswitch I can toggle each one beforehand or use my DP 24 and transfer to a CD that way I could do an entire evening. I will keep everyone posted by uploading a video once I get it this is going to be a blast! smile

I have been using Guitar Grease and have no problems with tuning when using a tremolo I put some on the nut and on the saddles or any part that comes in contact with the strings. One little container has lasted me over a year, I have both locking and standard tuners I like them both it  also depends on the tuning ratio too some tuners slip more than others too I get guitar grease from Stu Mack

Having someone else restring your guitar not a good thing unless there really pro's and if they were they wouldn't be slipping learn how to string classical strings yourself do a search on the web for a video it is the fastest way

I've read and seen on various science shows that Yellowstone blows about every 600,000 years. The last eruption was 640,000 years ago. Hmmmmmmmm.

Yes. An eruption now would be a world wide ecological disaster, potentially blocking sunlight from reaching the surface of the planet for months.

You thought it was cold this past winter? You ain't seen nothin' yet.

It aint the cold I am concerned about it is billions of tons of molten lava spewing out, enough to cover the entire mid west and all the states to the Mexican border the ash would block the sun for more then months all plant life would die and with it animals including us ELE extinction level  event.

Ever wonder what one mic can do for you that another can't?  Shure has a wonderful tool that can help you understand the difference in tonal characteristics from one mic to the next.

Pic a couple of mics in the comparator, and select the same music for them to hear the difference in tonal characteristic.  It's pretty dang cool

That is cool I own three of these it is nice to hear them used in comparisons and to help select the right tool for the job thanks smile

Speaking of challenging I was watching an old series on Netflix "Crossing Jordan" and one of the songs that they played in the segment was a tune by John Hiatt "Thirty years of tears" I was moved by the chord progression and the lyrics and found it here on Chordie and printed out the lyrics and bookmarked the audio recording needless to say I am rehearsing it sometimes all it takes is one song to motivate you this song presents a challenge not only for the progression but the slide solo as well so maybe that's one way to get the juices flowing find a song you like that is not easy to play just a thought. smile
