TF, no that would be a Jackson or a Kramer with a neck like that lol, click the link for pic, it has the classic huge V "Bottle opener head stock.  You see one of them and you You know its a dean!  Yep a lot of people say its a chunk of wood to carry, but you know what? THAT'S GOOD WITH ME! It also means im not holding the guitar up with my left hand like  Ihave to do with my SG.   Pictures will follow as soon as it gets here.  I have loved that body shape for a long time! and at 190 with shipping, its a wheel of a deal!  They make on ein balck also,, but I may get the Dimebag ML version next its like a cross between a explorer and a flying V  maybe this one  http://www.deanguitars.com/subcategory?series=ml_series  they also have a LP style guitar and one called a Cadillacl,, its a wild variation of a LP. http://www.deanguitars.com/subcategory? … lac_series

I ahve always liked Dean guitars, they are pretty RAD.  check out the Thoroughbred series while on that page.

cheers

I have not touched strings fro a few nights, but I did do a night with my neighbor on Tuesday night.  We did a rough attempt at my Love is the sun.  Was cool though we tried it a bit different than i usually do it with him having a finger picking part. maybe ill post it to sound cloud, but its pretty rough LOL.

Z and  KEEP IT,  I plan on getting a loud present, but for now I bought a Mr Heater Big Buddy  for my basement lol. But maybe in 2 weeks and a few details, I'll have a NGD to show off. (a body style I have wanted for a while and don't yet have, not a LP but that is next on the list wink  )

I couldn't agree more! If the specs & quality control are being watched, the end product should be virtually identical ... regardless of where a product is made. It's unfortunate that our global economy has highlighted the uneven playing field that workers compete on, but that's an issue for much greater minds than mine to deal with.

Normally there are only 2 issues on the major players who have the foreign lines that creep up, as I notice from personal experience. #1 Pick up quality.  It is hit and miss The diff between my Squire, and the American Strat I played at the store, everything felt the same , but the pickup quality was night and day. (that's why I swap out all my low price guitar pick ups)  #2 the difference between my Epi SG 400 and the Gibson it is made after, body weight. The neck is always heavy in your left hand because you have to hold it up or it drops down. A good non slip strap helps with this. The Gibson I seem to remember being better balanced  and a bit heavier.  But for the prices, I can live with that! smile

Now on the really cheap stuff, neck joints can be a problem and weak necks,, but if you know what you are buying and have read user reviews,, You can get a good playing guitar for under 2 or 300.  (of course by the time I finish souping them up, I probably have added another 125 to the cost LOLOL.

Never had a Guild acoustic.  But my electric was pretty great.  Then I sold it sad

UJB,
You reminded me that I have seen Arlo also. It was at a great little hall. too bad its gone now, but he was awesome, and he had a drunk removed, it was "that" guy who kept screaming for 2 songs over and over, finally Arlo asked security to remove him "Cause I'm the captain of this ship, and you need to go"  LOLOL heck he got a ovation just for kicking the guy out! LOL

Welcome back.  and check out song of the month , its a new area.

I would start with replacing the ground wire to the springs then replace the ground from the volume pot to the jack input and all the grounds from  pot to pot but if it was me I would just invest in a  Emerson pre wired setup with paper and oil capacitors I have one in my Strat quiet as a church mouse AND the tone controls really work nice.

This is  your sound were talking about get the best.and the ground and lead wires to the jack are included (rubber coated no soddering)

WEll I guess its down to the ground wire check.  Russ these are all GFS pups.  the two singles are just the same as I have in Bettie,(Brighton rocks) and the bridge is a "Little killer" humbucker http://www.guitarfetish.com/KP--Lil-Kil … 21984.html

As soon as I put my finger on the plate housing and become the ground, its fine.

time to open it up i guess.  I  have spent more on this guitar than it is really worth, but I had the pick ups handy and thought it ould be a cool treat for my son.  now its just  not playable!!!!

You know, I have to tell this story.  Back when OZZY first went solo and was on the Blizzard tour, he came to my town.  All I knew was Crazy Train and Iron man, but I wanted to go very bad.   I was 12.  My parents had bought into the whole Press  hoopla and were afraid for me to go,   However they did let me see KISS later that year (an many more that came to town).  So Scott then turns his allowance money from Kiss and THE WHO records to OZZY.  My first one was actually Diary of a Madman,   It was not until I was 16 that I was able to road trip to Charlotte NC (from Asheville NC) and see him in 85 on the Ultimate Sin tour.  Why do I miss that 1980 show so bad?  I would have gotten to see Randy  Rhodes in his prime and right before he died.  In a turn of events, When I did see Ozzy in 85, I got to see Cliff Burton (amazing bass player for Metallica).  He later died on the European leg of that tour.

Just wanted to share that story.

1. When you test at home are you running straight into the amp with no effects in line? (Electro-harmonix fx are particularly noisy in my experience)
2a. What happens when you plug the guitar into a different amp, plugged into the same outlet?
2b. What happens when you plug the guitar into the same amp, different outlet (or different location?)
3. Did the guitar tech use the same guitar same cable same amp, or just same guitar?

Basically I would go about eliminating for any other explanation than the guitar before I spend any more money on the guitar. Assuming you've done all of the above, take both the amp and guitar (and the same cable)  to the guitar shop and plug it in. See what happens there.

WEll here is what I have done.

As far as a different outlet, no good the whole friggin basement is on the same run! (cheap late 80s house construction)  Tempted to go next door and check. probably should. or go up to kitchen circuit , That should put it all on the guitar.

AXL guitar with same cable into Johnson amp direct, it  happens, Use either of my other guitars with same chord into Johnson, its fine.
AXL into  my rig with effects, happens worse,
Axl into my  rig direct, same as with the Johnson

If the problem were at the outlet, wouldn't ALL my guitars sound like poop? They dont The SG and Bettie (the Squire strat) sound just fine!  its really ticking me off.

GOD thats easy for the past, The 50s the 60s the 70s (i covered the 80s pretty good) but still on the bucket list Tom Petty,  Pink, IRON MAIDEN!!!!  Missed them all these years. Halestorm, In this moment,  Foo Fighters, FFDP,  an many more!

I play the buy first and take the heat later LOL (or its always good to say I bought it to share with the boys! That works!)

MOJO!
Hey I have told my daughter to look for you, so next time your feeling like oriental food, hit ASIAN CITY (usually dinner shifts but some lunches and dinners on the weekend) and ask for Bethany Sailer (hopefully she wont be hosting that night LOL

left comments on SC. Nice work!

Ok, I have talked about the mods  I did to my sons AXL Strat a few months ago.  Well it tested good at the shop.  We just found out recently that when we plug it in at home,  it has a loud humm. not so bad in first position for the bucker, but as it goes up the selector it gets really bad.  and I know strats and singles have hums,, but not like this! Yet taking it back to the shop,  it did not do it again.   I had them replace the jack and look for loose grounds. Check,  get it home and same thing!  I know its a ground issue because if you touch the jack plate, it grounds and goes away!   It is all in the guitar because I plug it in same cord and amp my guitars are in with no problem.

Any suggestions for a secondary ground? or should I take it to a different shop?  This same guy worked and modded Bettie with no problems, and fixed my sons acoustic also.  I need to make a quick vid of what is going on for him I guess.  I hate going somewhere else, but I may have too.

Thanks guys.
