Got a snark in every guitar case and have given several away. (I had some to give away at chordiestock, but everyone seemed to already own one!) Toney says it's more accurate that his high dollar in-line tuner. An endorsement from Toney is an endorsement I trust!

I took the Dark Side CD into my son's room (he's 14) & said - "Load this onto your ipod and listen on headphones." Of course, he didn't. Kids know nothing...

The kid is missing an experience everyone should have at least once!

You know Zack used to like rap, around 14, he found his rock roots - now I have no idea who the bands are he listens to. My point is -don't give up. Classic rock will live forever!

The Who were the ultimate Rock Band -  Entwistle's Bass, Moon's drums,  Roger Daltrey's powerful vocals and of course Townshend's playing, writing and overall musicianship made them the best pure rock band of all time - name a band with better individual and overall talent - there are none. More than The Beatles and The Stones, The Who defined what Rock and Roll should sound like. (Can you tell I am a fan?)

I was very pleased to host this event. Surrounded by so much talent, a little bit has got to seep into me. I've had the pleasure of meeting many chordians through the years and just added a few new ones to the list. Every single one of them have been a blast to be around and I consider them all dear friends.

Had more fun this weekend than I have had in a long time. I'm lucky to visit and jam with the boys at the London Bus Pub regularly, but I'm pretty sure the Bus hadn't seen this much talent on one evening before! Both Saturday and Sunday were AWESOME good times!

So - I'm thinking this should be an annual event - who doesn't want to come to sunny Florida in February!

So circle the weekend of February, 2014 on your calendars and lets make Chordiestock 2014 even bigger and better!

Nantucket was the big local band of my youth - they made a few albums - I actually saw them open for AC/DC in Dallas, TX - I was the only person singing every word of their songs. They've been making a comeback recently - saw them open for Heart a few years ago in Raleigh. Great fun-time band.

Hootie and the Blowfish also used to tour the local bars before they became big time - great Bar Band!

^That is an excellent idea NELA - I will have to pick up a few pre-paid envelopes!

Yesterday / last night was a blast -we are continuing the Chordiestock 2013 Music Festival this afternoon by taking over Toney's gig at the London Bus Pub!
7 days of Peace and Guitars (and beer and bourbon and rum and vodka and.......)

Look me up on skype for a preview of chordiestock - Zurf, Paul and I are having a BLAST

Skype username: topdown67

Just returned from Toney's gig where "the old guy" stole the show! Paul played between one of Toney's sets and ROCKED THE HOUSE! - did some Stones, Pink Floyd, Dire Straights, The Who and a Simon and Garfunkel tune - all done excellently. A beautiful evening on Clearwater Beach, good friends, good tunes, good food, cold beer - don't get much better than that! Took some pics with Toney's phone - check facebook soon!

Man, that is so awesome... can't wait to hear. GO TROUT!!

Paul says skip the guitar, we have plenty - fill the case with booze!

Zurf wrote:

Has Paul grown even more fingers?  Beside the Shenandoah we all agreed that he must have some extra fingers that retract back into his hand like cat paws but they come out when he plays.

He certainly plays like he has more fingers than I do! "The Old Guy is Rockin'" is absolutely an appropriate Sig line - Paul makes me realize how much I have to learn.

We are planning on going to see Toney tomorrow night - then on Friday the real party starts! Can't wait!!

Chordiestock 2013 has officially kicked off with Paul's arrival a few hours ago. Man, I love the way my guitar sounds in the hands of a skilled player!

TF - I don't know you or your friends, but based upon your list of favorite musicians and your conversation partner naming those bans "obscure", I can pretty easily come to the conclusion that that person is an idiot :0

Those bands - and those before them laid out the foundation of rock music that every band copies (and the good ones build upon) today.

I will get home from Texas just in time to pack my guitar and a pair of clean underwear and jump on a plane to Florida.
It may not be Epic for a Big City kid like Topdown but I bet it will be for Lizzie and I smile  we don't get to town much........ but we do have AM radio

Wayne - we don't wear underwear in Florida - I'm pretty sure it's forbidden and they may get confiscated at the airport. Bathing suits and flip flops (and guitars!) is all you will need.

I am very much looking forward to meeting Lizzie and pickin' a few tunes with you after all these years! That alone will make it Epic!

Not quite the same but similar is my pocketknife. My Dad always carried a pocketknife. I've carried one pretty much every day of my life since I was in college. To open a box or letter, to clean your fingernails, tighten a screw or pick a tooth (LOL) - I swear that little knife comes in handy several times a day.

Now - I frequently fly out of town for work = no pocket knife. As happens several times each year, I forget about the airport security and end up tossing a few knives in the airport garbage each year (happened again last week). As soon as I got to my hotel, the first thing I did was log into Amazon and ordered a couple of pocket knives so I would have one when I got back.

My pocket feels so empty without one, I can't walk straight - it takes me hours to stop walking in circles. My favorite is this little Buck Toothpick knife - Pretty sure its the same one Dad carried

I want one!! - in XL please - actually, I'll likely need 6 or so I can hand out a few to the folks at the LBP.

It's not gonna be as epic as it once sounded, but I'm sure a good time will be had by all. Heck, the last time I got together with Zurf alone it turned out pretty epic!

Looks very cool Dave - I started a chordie "Picks Around The World" http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=12624 that is kind of, but not really in the same vein. It's been fun watching where the package has traveled and evolved. Your project sounds awesome.

Jerome has the correct answer - every single guitar you play will sound and play differently than all others - It's all about budget - I own all I can (presently) afford to own - and I'm always on the lookout for the next addition!

Bummer - 4 times in one year, seems something permanent should be done. Tonsillectomy's  sucks though - they say you get to eat all the ice cream you want, what they don't say is that every swallow hurts like HECK
