I wish it were possible for y'all to be "a fly on the wall" here at our house!

Just to give you the "Reader's Digest Version": Late in the afternoons you can usually find me in front of the computer either listening to stuff y'all uploaded to YouTube and/or SoundCloud. Sometimes Dondra will join me and make a comment or two and we actually discuss your works. Sometimes she doesn't even have to walk in here, because I usually play your tunes pretty loud. I like to listen for the "nuances" in your music so that I can comment intelligently. I have to say I'm constantly surprised at the clear sound quality some of you get using just your mobile phones! :-)

She'll ask me who's singing and if we can see your lyrics, she will comment on those as well.

In short, she knows she's married to a musician and even though she claims not to have the "knack" for writing (she's wrong about that - she's a great poet), she now actively listens along with me, so if any of you ever doubt you have an appreciative audience, then doubt no more.

Add to that your concerns for us, and there you have it: a family thing's going on. We often discuss our tough time (I call them "The Troubles" -- sorry Ireland) and how all of you helped us through them and we share our regret that all of us don't live closer together.

I wrote all of the above to say this: This ol "Debbil Dementia" of mine causes my memory to lapse more and more often, but please never wonder if we love and appreciate all our friends here, because we do.

Thank you

Bill and Dondra

Gotcha covered with a comment on the Tube with the new one "Free Ride". I think it's great that all three of you can "rock out" (an old phrase from the 60's - remember it?) with this and so many others you have uploaded. It's also great that all three of you share in the singing.

Before I took singing lessons and while I was still drumming, I too had a boom mic and sang my butt off on the songs I really liked, so I got credit for background harmonies, but I always felt guilty about taking credit for that because the guys always kept that mic turned off.

Comments left on the Cloud for you, Scott! Work yourself out a chorus (maybe with a key change) and this tune would really rock. Wanted to say that you write very well too! Thanks for letting me listen to it, my friend!

So.... "Whatcha drinkin'?"

"I'm drinkin' wine...."

"And I'm drinkin' gin!"

Hey Family!

My sweet Dondra and I need to  apologize for forgetting to thank all of you for standing by us during her terrible times and many hospital admissions.

If we (me) had not had y'all to help get us through this, we would have been all alone and we know to appreciate and love you for what you did for us.

We truly are thankful there's our Chordie Family to help when times get rough.

We both send our love to all of you!

Bill and Dondra

Thanks!

I know it's a bit early to be wishing you all that, but I wanted to put you "in the mood" as it were, for us to have a wonderful holiday "together".

Dondra and I celebrate the German Christmas  (on Christmas Eve) and we were wondering if any of you would like to share holiday greetings via the telephone  with us?

We know it's a kind of "radical" idea, but we'll call you or you can call us - whichever works best and we will send our phone number to any of you who request it through Chordie mail.

I know that some of our family has the younger generations as members, but I wanted to share this album with you and perhaps you will like it as well. It is called "Christmas With Chet Atkins". It's only about 30 minutes and it was taken directly off the original record, so the sound is not pristine, but give it a try anyway, okay?

Awesome Brian! I'm glad you were able to keep playing. A friend of mine did the very same thing you did, only he lost one of the fingers (don't remember which one) of his chording hand and he gave it up and did karaoke using his guitar as a prop. It was pitiful to see, really. sad

Welcome to the Chordie Family and as I tell everyone: "Teach us somethin!'"..... smile

I have some photos of the time I tried to make "TURDUCKEN"  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turducken on my own, rather than just order it already fixed (and just heat it). I'll spare you all the sight of the blood and entrails as I tried to roll those three animals up together.

And yes, this was during the years that Dondra and I were not together and I thought I owned the world by jumping out of perfectly good airplanes. I thank "She Who Must Be Obeyed" for saving me from myself. smile

Thanks you two! smile

If anyone here is from "The Sixties", they may think they're looking  at  a pair of white socks being worn with black shoes, but they're not . Those are "penny loafers" cut up to look like Roman Sandals. The outfit you see on YouTube and khaki shorts with a top called a "Dashiki" were our "evening" and "summer outdoor' wear respectively. For formal occasions, one of our guys' dads owned an exclusive men's store called "The Squire Shop", where, in return for commercial mentions during our breaks we "rented" our tuxes.

We loved playing formals:  These included small-town proms as well as  "Garden Club" and "After-Wedding" parties.

One thing not listed, but which relates somewhat are those "spur of the moment" times when the father of the bride would come staggering up to "The Leader Our Band', made sure all the guests were watching and handed each one of us - in sequence and with drum roll/cymbal crash - a twenty dollar bill. One of the things which kept those tips coming were all the "spare parts" such as  tubes, amps, strings, drum heads in each  size,  and in my case a complete change of clothes. Sometimes we even had a "human spare part" who served as manager/roadie and rhythm/bass guitars. When Dewey, leader of his group "The Originals" left, he brought John with him to "The Watchmen".

By the way, that $20 buck tip I mentioned would be worth $149.00 in today's USD.

Um,.... What was the question???

Just kidding and sorry for the length!

Your friend

Bill,
