I've always gone with "start with an easy one" just to settle any nerves. When I saw you were going to jam on the first song I was a little nervous for you, I try to avoid solos and such till I settle down. Still, glad you got through it unscathed and you're looking forward to doing it again....shame about the Sony, I would have taped the first gig just to see the weak points not for public display....unless it was really good, which is why you never see me live on you-tube  lol

I usually do that as well, but my bass player and I have been together for a really long time (15 years) and this was a low profile show so I thought it might be fun to take a risk.

Normally we open with something driving and fast, but not too fast.

The jam and Watchtower were great. Those worked out fine. I guess if I hadn't been too cute by throwing Floyd in everything would've been fine lol

Dont  beat  your  self up  over  a  couple  of missed  chords ,I  remember  a  few years  ago   thinking  I'd  made  a complete  mess  of   Seven nation army  at  a  festival .At  the  end  of  the  set  we  called  out  to  the  audience  if  they  wanted  another  and  they  shouted  for   Seven nation army .

I feel that pain. I've found that (unfortunately) you can do a mediocre job of a really popular song and it will be better received 90% of the time than an immaculate, incredible version of a more obscure tune.

The idea was sound, so we are going to hit the studio and work out the time feel change and key change. Next time we try it we will crush it. And hopefully I will remember to press record on my Sony so you guys can hear.

You're beating yourself up over a couple chords? In one song?

Silly you.

I should be so lucky.

I am criticized by bandmates for being a tad on the "too meticulous" side of things. lol

It was just a huge mess. Missed chords. So we played through it because, well that's what we do, got it back together, ended at the same time and then the rest of the set was fine.

So now we know not to do that for next time lol.

I'm at it! Goal line to the right, we are nearest corner up by a load of Samoans.  They are playing France.

Lou I think you're missing a couple chords in there.

The Johnny Cash version is I IV I (first line of the verse) to I V I (second line of the verse)

Chorus is V IV I twice then V I twice.

Social D plays the chords exactly as written by Johnny but perhaps transposed for Mike Ness' voice. Here's a link:
https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/j/john … re_crd.htm

Also just a note on the above, Bb F Bb is a I V I, not a I VI I.

I was trying to make it but due to some family stuff we are going to have to miss. You guys have a blast. Hopefully I'll see you in '17.

Hey Chordie!

If any of you are planning to be in Sin City this weekend, I am playing a free show on Saturday night with the trio I jam with. I'm going to try something new by printing out chord changes for songs that my band doesn't know. I am going to hand them out during one of our songs and try to get the band to jam in and out of things they're completely unfamiliar with. Should either be awesome or a huge mess.

I just found Mustered Courage and love them. I was hoping to sneak up to Wintergrass for a peek, but that wasn't in the cards this year.

I play with these guys every few years. My piece starts at minute mark 9.30 and ends at 12.36 or so.

The remainder of the show probably contains some foul language, so you've been warned if you choose to watch the whole thing.

Agree on Guild.

I play a low end import line they used to make in the 60's called Madeira. I love these guitars. They have them on e-bay for cheap (200-300 US) from time to time. I own 4.

You've got three different places to put that, depending on the mood of the song.  It could fit in bluegrass, folk, or rock.

I beg to differ on jazz, which is really a genre unto itself, but I agree that jam and funk can fit into the categories you list. However, neither my interest nor knowledge is* deep enough in bluegrass, folk and rock to develop a weekly feed based upon those categories. Jam band music as a hybrid/crossover genre and funk as a niche type of music are a lot more interesting to me.

They are also pretty interesting for the forum from the SEO standpoint. A lot less traffic in jam and funk than rock and folk, I would argue.

*As an aside, I originally typed "are" here, but my grammar software corrected me. Does the above look correct to y'all?

Great set.  Solid arrangements of electric tunes.
