Peatle
Thanks my friend

It's funny - once I got into finalizing it, that's exactly how I had it framed and pictured in my mind - a song that would be sung by a church choir or congregation.
I'm still looking for time to record it.
Thanks for the kind words Peatle.

Happy Holidays to you and Maree

I made some changes in lyrics and chords-( i don't know if you can see them or not)
I feel pretty comfortable playing it now.
I'm going to try to get a recording up soon.

Phill

Here is a funny story about masks.

I teach 8th graders and I have an autistic young man in my class.
About a week ago I happened to mention that it really stinks to have to wear these masks and hopefully soon it will be over.

Gio ( the boy) raises his hand and says " Mr. Kenyon, what really stinks is smelling my own breath inside this mask !"
It was most comical - even though he was very serious!

Nice song Phill - cheery tune to a wicked situation - and it came out great -   masterful !
Living in New York State - Covid is running rampant - mostly due to people being idiots and not following proper covid protocols.
Many schools are now remote learning and probably heading towards all schools soon.

anyway, thanks for the sound - sounded great.
Hope you, Ann and your family ( as well as all our Chordie friends)  stay safe and healthy.

Jeff, Ken, Peatle

Thank you for the kind words.
I like it, hoping I won't kill it by recording it.
It sounds good inside my head, its when I actually sing it all tends to go south.  smile

Thanks again fellas

Happy Holidays to you all and your families. May you all stay safe and enjoy the Christmas season.

Probably not what you were thinking smile
I heard that line in a movie last night and it stuck in my head.
This morning having coffee I just started writing the lines -this is how it came out.

Oh, What A Night ! by Jim Kenyon

Verse 1

.

[C] Oh what a night that must have been

For the Virgin Mary in Bethle[G]hem

Oh what a [C]night that must have [F]been

As the Shepherds[C] heard those angels,[G] crying out to [C]them

.

Verse 2

To celebrate the newborn [G]king

Oh what a [C]night that must have [F]been

To see that [C]little baby, and [G] hear those angels [C]sing

.

Chorus

.

[C] Oh those [F]angels flew so beautiful, up [C]in the shining stars

[F]sang the prince of peace is here, as [C]wise men came from far

[F]voices ringing through the night, sang his [C] name again and again

he's the [G]chosen one, born to save the world, and to [F]that they sang [C]Amen

[G] let me hear you [F]sing [C]Amen

[G] Allelujah, let us [F]all sing [G]Amen

.

Verse 3

[C] Oh what a night that must have been

To know he is the way, he is the [G]light

Oh what a [C]night that must have [F]been

Savior of the [C] world born [G]on that holy [C]night

.

Chorus

.

[C] Oh those [F] flew so beautiful, up [C]in the shining stars

[F]sang the prince of peace is here, as [C]wise men came from far

[F]voices ringing through the night, sang his [C] name again and again

he's the [G]chosen one, born to save the world, and to [F]that they sang [C]Amen

[G] let me hear you [F]sing [C]Amen

[G] Allelujah, let us [F]all sing [G]Amen

.

[G] the chosen one, born to save the world, and [F]to that they sang [C]Amen

[G] the chosen one, born to save the world, and [F]to that they sang [C]Amen

[G] let me hear you [F]sing [C]Amen

[G] Allelujah, let us [F]all sing [G]Amen

[G] Allelujah, let us [F]all sing [G]Amen

Mark,

That is just awesome.
Wonderful voice !
Strong, strong lyrics!
I kept waiting for the Scottish accent to kick in  smile
My family roots share quite a bit with southern and Eastern Scotland.

Thanks for sharing - hope there is more to come.
Don't be a stranger -visit often.

Beamer,
yep  listened to them all.  The California Hustle and flow was the one I liked best.

I think they are quite good, but I'm not sure about the R7R hall of fame.

Thanks for the posts though - I liked listening to them

Jeez Zurf

I can't remember half the stuff from last week !  smile

Yeah I thought you were going to do a couple a while ago, though I can't remember which ones

If you want to give this one a shot be my guest. I thought Phill was going to do it but Ann must have made other plans for him smile  just like my wife does.

Anyway, I'd be honored if you did one of my songs. I'm not much of a musician and it is always so cool for me to hear my songs really played by guys that actually know how to play and can sing.

Thanks and I hope your new equipment is awesome.

jeez- at the risk of sounding like  broken record - ditto to what Phill said - Loved the first song - loved the last song too
Alas, I am not a big metal fan (mostly bc I can't play it !) - but this caught me off guard.  I was really surprised at the harmonies they achieved. Also really super surpised to see the violin being played.  after listening to this the third time - I came to appreciate it more.
Thanks though Scott - I really liked this - opened up a new view of metal to me.

Jim

OMG - so wrong, yet soooo frigging funny

LOL - you guys are so far above my pay grade - when I read posts like these they may as well be in Chinese.
It must be cool as musicians to actually know what it all means! smile
Have fun with these toys boys !

I'm still trying to figure out the knobs on my amp ! smile

So true Phill !

I must say that there are a lot of people in the field today that do those sort of things ( especially in areas of health services).
I'm afraid that you hit the nail however in assessing politicians - they are bridges - but mostly toll bridges for their own benefit.

I hope you give this song a whirl - I'd like to hear your version.

It's funny how you, Peatle and I all wrote on kinda the same topic - completely different scenes with he same message.

Hope you and Ann stay safe and healthy, enjoy the upcoming holidays, and somehow are able to spend time with those wonderful grandchildren.

Peatle

That's awesome.

I love what you wrote
" I can still hear my Sunday school teacher from when I was a kid reading that bible verse,
‘Whoever wants to be a leader among you must also be your servant.”
If only every leader of every nation would go by that we would many less problems.
Thanks for the kind words about the song

Ken (DE)

I quite agree with Phill once again !
While each verse is unique and meaningful, the last one really got to me.
The lines really grip the passion you have for your wife and appreciation for what you have between you.
The simplicity of the rhyme masks the deep and complicated requirements of a great marriage.
Cheers to the great healing job and recovery of your daughter - and maybe some healing inside when your wife returned.

Beautiful song !!

I think that I may have become cynical having to deal with this Covid world we have inherited.  Like  Easybeat said - when something comes to you - you gotta put it down.

I'm not totally sure the music is correct, but it works for me.

Let me know what you think.

Saints and Sinners By Jim Kenyon

Sinners and Saints

Verse 1

[D]I hear the whispers of the [G]secret social [D]circles

[D]even among those I count to be my [A]friends

[D]judged and grudged, a [D7]name that gets [G]smudged

it’s[D] never the means, but [A]always the[D] ends

Verse 2

[D]There’s a price to pay, if you [G]try to walk[D] away

[D]Like living a life without laughter and [A]love

[D]Just follow and listen, and [D7]do whatever they [G]say

It [D]seems that you’re not hardly [A] worth thinking [D] of

.

Chorus

[G]Losers , winners, Saints and sinners, there’s a [D]fine line drawn between

The [G]apostle, prophet, gospel and gossip, seems the [A]truth’s hard to be seen

[G]Losers , winners, Saints and sinners, what’s [D]down that path we choose

Just[A] follow, listen, and do what they say, [G]Seems either way I’m gonna [D]lose

.

Verse 3

[D]I look around and I don’t [G] like this world any[D]more

[D]Don’t care and I’ve got no reasons left to pre[A]tend

[D]I’m so bruised and scarred, [D7] I feel so all a[G]lone

Just [D] can’t go back, never [A] be the same [D]again

Chorus

[G]Losers , winners, Saints and sinners, there’s a [D]fine line drawn between

The [G]apostle, prophet, gospel and gossip, seems the [A]truth’s hard to be seen
