You gotta give a little more notice than the night before! I've got thousands of airline miles to spend, and I love to meet and jam with chordie folks!!

John Pearse stings - cheap, sound great, last almost as long as elixers and I don't think I've ever snapped one. And you know how I love to beat on my guitar! That said, I do use a pretty light pick (like BGD and NELA suggest). My go to is a Dunlop Nylon .67 mm - orange

#1 rule in Blues - the best blues songs begin with "Woke up this mornin'"

Woke up this mornin' in a mean and ugly mood

Thats all I got

DE - That sounds like a lesson I would be very interested in learning and hearing about! Well done.

Welcome westieg and GH! Sounds like you are both long time rockers! I also wish to become mediocre and have hundreds girls screaming for me. I now have only a couple of gals who scream at me to STOP!

Welcome to chordie!

Sorry Folks - My weekend turned out much busier than I had thought. I'm gonna have to bag the skype jam.

I have the G7th performance capo - it has no handle and is very unobtrusive - easy to finger around where other capos might get in the way

I got a complaint - where is that damn "Like Button" Roger posted?

I have a Kyser, Dunlap and G7th - All work well, but the G7th is the best IMO due to it's small size and ease of use. They are pricey, but G7th makes an awesome capo.

I'm home for the 3 day weekend. No real plans other than the Sunday Jam with Toney at the LBP. Anybody available for a skype Jam either Saturday or Monday afternoon?

I hear there is this guy named Fraud Johnson (or something like that) that can make you a rock star in 30 days. Caveat emptor!

Scale picking is key I believe. I am poor at this myself due to a lack of patience and practise, but there was a time I worked on this and it helped. Like Z, I felt anchoring my pinky helped position my hand to better "align" with the strings.

good ole Justin lesson might help

I have had the pleasure of meeting and jamming with several chordie members and each and every one has been a delight and we had an absolute blast every time. I am looking forward to meeting another one this summer (Amy). I highly recommend it!

Interesting question BGD and after thinking about it I find that I am much more tolerant of an artist's music (regardless of the message) than I am of an artist openly spewing his politics or actively campaigning and only if they cross that line do I lose my interest in the artist.

Nicely done and well said Jeff, turning a negative into a positive. My Mother (and Lena) would be proud of you!

Thanks everyone -Amy give Katie Bug a big ole sloppy birthday kiss from me!

Great tune badeye - never seen that before -I'm pretty sure my son will have something for me when I get back home!

Beer's on me tonight if you are in Austin, TX!

Happy NGD gtx! My first "good" guitar was a used Tak and although my son has adopted her, I still love the way she plays and sounds. Yours looks like a beauty!

Thats what makes learning fun. The "ah-ah" moment when you finally get it. Nailing that chord you had been struggling with when all of a sudden it is automatic instead of a struggle. These are the things that make every endeavor worthwhile. Congrats! Keep it up!

Looking forward to meeting your Pop - sound like a great guy. Although I already feel like I know all of you through our skype Jams (except Dad), I am really looking forward to meeting the entire family in person! Katie won't bother me a bit - I adore kids and she and I share a special birthday bond!

Dragging back this old thread from 5 years ago. Thinking of Mom still brings tears to my eyes. She was the best. For those of you who still have your Mom in your life, I encourage you to savor the days you have with her!

Love ya Ma!

Amy's Backyard campground works fine for me - that is if you can supply the gear (tent, sleeping bag, etc.). I also could stay in a nearby hotel, but that might pose an issue with driving knowing the amount of adult beverages I typically consume at events like this.  Not sure how far you are from Green Lake State Park - but I used to camp there as a kid and have fond memories of that place. My family held a reunion there last year that although I did not attend, had good reviews.

I'm wide open for the summer - have no set plans due to work obligations. Like I said, this would be at best a 3 or 4 day weekend for me. That said, don't plan around me, I'd love to meet the family, but I'd say the odds of making it are no better than 60 or 70%.

If I can make it, I will likely rent a car - I have family in Syracuse I would pretty much have to visit if I am that close.

Hey Amy - Southwest also flies directly from Tampa to Rochester - is that any closer to you than Albany? Let me know the date and I'll see if i can make it!
