Wow! Thank you for sharing that about your past, my friend! I know it's been written and said many times before, but I can't think of anything better than it sounds like "You paid your dues".

It's a genuine honor to know you!

For my friend Jandle:

"Mary Did You Know?" is the most beautiful song about the birth of Jesus I have ever heard!

Dondra and I could only stand here in marveled silence. She had heard it years before by Mark Lowery of The Gaithers.

Thank you so much, my friend!

EDITED: That "Baldwin" guitar is shown on the list of the OP...... Sorry for the mistake...... OR....... I was just testing y'all to see if you were paying attention and would notice! I prefer the latter! Permit me a cruel chuckle!!!! hehehehehe.
===================================================================================================

I gave Apache another look, Roger - this time played with all The Shadows - and he was playing a "Baldwin" guitar (which isn't listed in the above post).  Would that have been manufactured by the Baldwin Piano Company?

Thanks

And why wouldn't you be??? Y'all are PROS!

Still I have to post my own story about the midnight blue Strat I bought from eBay. I thought I was getting the genuine Fender article, but when I looked up the serial number -- yep ---- it was made in Mexico.

By this, I do not mean I got a shoddy guitar, just one which had not the resale value of an American-made one.

An older, but wiser (and who knows more about drums than guitars)

I don't know what you just wrote up there, my friend, but it sounds like you should be designing them - not repairing them!  smile

First off, I'm a huge fan of traditional Christmas music, with the choirs, pipe organ ... the whole bit. But there's also a lot of non-traditional or semi-traditional stuff that's very good, so I'd like to start this thread where we can each share some of our personal favorites. Here's a jazzed-up Jethro Tull version of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen".

GREAT start, TF. It's good to spend the Holidays with you and "The Family". smile

We both hope the knee's mending nicely, dear friend!

"Child King" ------ A Parody (and please take it as such - it's done by a Christian Band" of Ton Lóc's "Wild Thing".  It is a "Non-Trad" Christmas song. Be sure to read the lyrics.

Amy,

The Ramones were the only (would you call them "pre-punk" band I ever loved! Heard them for the first time on National Lampoon's Vacation doing "Blitzkrieg Bop"! smile

It made me smile so big when you wrote that, Amy, I liked to have decapitated myself! smile

{For my "across the waves" friends: "Liked to have" is a Southern American ("Deep South") colloquialism  for "I almost". I believe it comes from the word "lacked". I think correctly said it would be something like, "I lacked the compulsion to decapitate myself" ---- Your  aficionado of the English language....}

Being that it's The Christmas Season, I thought y'all might appreciate this song by Mssrs. Greg Lake and Ian Anderson.

I left comments on SoundCloud for you on your latest work. I won't repeat it here, since I am now able to post there (don't know what I did wrong before), but you were playing what I call "The Smoky Blues", my friend. I think you know what I mean by that, but take a look anyway. Love that gravel in your voice!

Big Joe Turner! Love it, badeye. We keep forgetting artists such as he and "Dr. Feelgood"  (Piano Red), who instead of the guitar decided on the 88's to play their style of blues!

Speaking of Big Joe, may I add a tribute to him, played by Wynton Marsalis (yes, that Marsalis) and Eric Clapton?

Here's "Joe Turner's Blues" (another one I got cheaply on Amazon -- It's called "Marsalis and Clapton Play The Blues".....

PS: I have NEVER seen Hank play without that smile on his face! It makes you just wanna be up there with him!

Saw that one and it immediately reminded me of the Wonderful Hank Marvin of The Shadows, Roger.

That may not be the same model (I know yours is called a "Bullet" and its far left body is cut sharper), but still, I can't see that guitar without hearing and seeing him playing "Apache"!

It's beautiful. Glad you got to work with it and I am also glad to know you better, Mr. Luthiersmile

NOW POSTED ON SOUNDCLOUD. smile:

So many people are missing out on this collaboration by not knowing what you two are capable of. The writing and performance are both spot on and I LOVED the harmonies and Dondra loved what I call the "hook". "Never go to sleep with tears in our eyes"....... It's a hug and holding hands song and it's righteous as hell, boys! So happy to know you both and the lyrics and music you bring us!

Good idea, my friend. I can just save it as a file. Never thought of that, but then that's why there's folks like my friends here. Always willing to lend a hand or reach out with a kind word or two. Dondra and I very fortunate to have you "with us", indeed.

Thanks

I am sorry to hear of this. I have several of ELP's live CD's/DVD's and Greg always was a very personable and amiable person. I had no idea he wrote "Lucky Man" when he was just 11. Yes, Rest In Peace, Greg.

........ I wanted to mention.

In planning my Do It Yourself Christmas Message, I looked up "Cotton Fields" and chose the version By Creedence Clearwater Revival.

I looked at several transpositions and chose two I thought I could handle, but SONGBOOK would only save  one. Is this common or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks
