I don't know about Mojo, but I have played and sung with BGD and it was a blast.  I can only imagine how much fun we'd have with Mojo and his pickles pitching in.

sounds like I good time but Texas is a long way from where  you guys throw the chordae get togethers.i would love to sit down and play a few tunes with my chordae friends. maybe some one knows how to send a audacity file around by email it could be done that way maybe.

Frank was and is always amazing  and very entertaining.

Ok  no wonder no one else has tried any Chapin, he is not easy to play even if its easy chording.  So with Flat voice, and mistakes, here is the best I could manage out of about 10 tries. https://soundcloud.com/beamer326/taxi-attempt

Maybe someone else will get courageous

interesting box, solid state for solid state to reproduce tube?  yea gotta hear that.  I mean I like the tech they have come up with, and honestly my RP doea great job, if this is affordable i need to lookinto it. I see Fender and Marshal buying it for the lower cost amps.  However I do believe if anyone thinks this is going to replace a head filled with tubes ,,,, I'm not thinking so,,, maybe in the studio, but not on a stage,,, I know I like seeing racks of 4X12's and the heads up there.  even in a combo unit, I wanna know i have that warm orange light in back LOLOL.  But it may just be the next cool thing for mid and low priced amps.

Hey beamer are you going a have ago at one of these?  what about a Harry Chapin one?

YOU BET, BUT I STILL Have 17 days LOL
Things are busy, its prime detail season and I am keeping pretty booked.  Will find some time here soon.  I was considering the epic combo of Taxi  and Sequel.   Cats has been done a lot but seems not by anyone here LOL nor has any Harry been played by anyone.  I didnt Think I would be challenging everyone so much LOLOL

So for fun, here is the UKJ version.    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B32yjbCSVpU

OK.  I'll get A Pirate Looks at Forty recorded once I practice it a few times.

I don't know any Chapin.  I'll have to see if something sparks my curiosity.  I was surprised that Beamer picked him!

Glad I can surprise ya!  I love Harry, my 4 favorite albums are Taxi, Heads and tails, and On the road to kingdom come, and Sequel .  My neighbor was singing Cats and Taxi with the 12 string Ovation that i now own.  She is the one who gifted it to me.   Zurf, seeing as how you finger pick really good, this should be right up your ally. (let me challenge you with the song Corey's coming)

To chime  in on Jerome's  book, mic  the amp and get the sound you want.  All I ever add in with audacity is usually compression, and reverb and lately playing with the delay,  then hit the render button and export as Mp3 make sure you have downloaded the LAME program  you can get it from http://lame.sourceforge.net/  or from audacity

http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_ … g_ins.html
How do I download and install the LAME MP3 encoder?

Because of software patents, Audacity cannot include MP3 encoding software or distribute such software from its own websites. Instead, use the following instructions to download and install the free and recommended LAME third-party encoder to export MP3 files with Audacity. See the LAME Legal Issues page for more details.
Windows: See the LAME installation section on Installing and updating Audacity on Windows.
Mac: See the LAME installation section on Installing and updating Audacity on Mac.
Linux/Unix: See the LAME installation section on Installing and updating Audacity on Linux.

3 upbeat, are you in a bar that would enjoy a humor song? like Grape fruit Juicy fruit or Ray Stevens? toss one of them in, another upbeat, a mid tempo, then maybe a slower one or 2, ramp back up make them want to dance and drink,  end with something makes them sweat so they buy from the bar.  That's what I would do.  It really depends on where you are playing.  Hanging out with bands its kinda a formula I have seen used.
Russell and a few of the guys who have more public experience than I can probably be of more help.

Hi Scott, saw this on SC last night and played along but found it difficult to riff on bass. I'll give it another go when I get a chance. Very good though. I thought I heard 2 guitars?

one track is drums and rhythm guitar, track 2 is me on lead.  its mainly Am with some pinky thrown in and index raised and then in the E barr chord position with out the bar up to I think C and B,, ill have to actually figure the chords out.

I was also noodling around with the bass line but have not tried to play with the progression.   I'm thinking playing it in the higher octave (like a Maiden song) My son says he doesn't like it that way, so gotta try both.  Ill send you the tracks individually.  I also want to smooth out my solo.  I also hve a longer drum stem that i may just redo the rhythm progression and a better lead.

What is funny is that i got the idea for the lead from the intro of Skid Rows Monkey Business  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leN_gcJHpo4  we never jump to the hard side but man it wouldnt be hard with the chord structure we are using  wink

I was a bellman and met a few stars , some have heard this before, but I chatted with and gave a ride to a laundromat  to Jeff Keith from Tesla. he gave me 2 tickets and stage passes, they were opening for Poison.  that same year was also all the girls in VIxen.  didnt talk to him but Warren hanes got up on stage eith my friends bad and jammed. and met a guy from an almost famus band called Rock City Angels the same night. (they were dropped by David Geffin in lu of GnR)

i also got to meet and hang a bit with Dom  Deluise  when he stayed at the hotel.

Ok,
I had to put that topic because most of this crowd would not have given it a chance titled Sleaze rock returns. big_smile

Also I want to say to the topic, There are many bands from my 80s era, that are out performing and some have tried to "update their new music" to fit the times.  To me, the true  guys who stick to their guns (no pun intended) and make pure music so that you know it is them are my favorite.

The band that excites me right now because the 2 main figures have put the past aside, dropped each separate version of bands with the same name,  and gone back to being a main unit are Traci Guns and Phil Lewis who were and are the driving force in the sleaze metal band  genera,
L.A. GUNS
(of which early versions had Axl Rose as singer, hence the name of guns and roses formation of parts LA guns and Hollywood Rose, but that is a different story).

They are releasing a new CD and have one song out as a tease.  I know most wont listen, but man I AM SO HAPPY THEY STAYED TRUE TO THEIR ROOTS.  the two added links are a live concert that just is full of energy, not to mention professionalism when the bass is not working at the beginning and they just start jamming a improve version of whole lotta love type thing, and not being little childish tantrum throwing types (IE:   Axl Rose lolol)
(yes they drop plenty of F bombs, so if that offends you, dont bother watching)
the second is the new song speed.

BGD. Excellent choice !
Beamer excellent choice. I had dinner with Harry Chaplin one night in East Stoudsburg Pa. after he performed at the college.  Superb lyricist - wrote from his heart for sure. His brother was cool too.

Taxi isn't that hard to play except for the bridge part - as a result - I generally just omit it

its been a long time, but just watched an old live show and tried to watch his hands, may take another crack at it.  while watching that show, i realize many of his songs are 5th fret capo, and OMG ill probably play them entirely different!

Thanks guys. I've used the same set up twice since and not had a problem. I think it could have been a power issue. When i thought about it a few days later after reading some of your advice I had a powered monitor and an electric fan (it was a hot night) as well as the effects running off a 4 gang extension. I am running a lot of pedals at once. Maybe time to thin them out a bit. Thanks again guys

I love my stomps also, but have you thought of going to a multi effects processor?  Ever since I have had my Digitech RP boxes I have rarely had to add any stomps.  If you play live I  suggest either a RP 500 or RP1000. (or a line 6 or a vox, but I know the RP series).  In the states just saw a used RP1000 at Guitar center for like $175 or so. Stupid affordable.  The difference is either a bank of 5 or 10 for channels.

The other advantage, rugged built for giging, one power source needed in your extension( go to a 6 slot gang), you can program ANYTHING lolol, There are toys in there I still have not figured out.   also you can set the presets to your set list.  it really has a lot to offer, and no i am not attached to the company LOLOL

just a suggestion.

OH and BTW i left my A/B Y box plugged in and killed the battery and there is no by pass so i had nothing.  (Note to self, get A/B Y box that is powered.)

I wrote back to Jan to make sure this would be ok. SOOOOOOOOO

I cant pick one song, however she said its in the correct spirit to name an artist to choose from.  HANG ON GUYS! ITS GONNA SURPRISE YOU!!  big_smile big_smile

Please pick a song from ........ HARRY CHAPIN

I first heard his songs sung by the neighbor who was kind enough to gift to me her 12 string Ovation.  She sang Cats, and Taxi.  I wanted to chose Taxi, but its not an easy song for me to play, and then I thought of Sequel, which I can play pretty good, and of course there is CATS and the cover by Ugly Kid Joe.  Yet there are sooo many more great titles to choose from.
So there you have it friends. knock yourself out!  I will try to learn a new one myself. big_smile

BEAMER.
METALIZING THE SLOW STUFF!

Well Phill, as your post has no quote button,  Now you sound like a FB forum.  this person evidently has used chordie, as a tool not a social media.  I was on here 3 yrs b4 I even tried the forum. I'll be honest, I liked the CP feature my self and dont like current things either, however I have accepted them  and use songster, and Amy's work-around, not gonna "take my toys and go home" but I think the guy has a valid question.

As we know from dealing with MS.  Not all changes are good.an not all upgrades are good as some money hound finds a way to remove what may be considered a minor item that actually lost of ppl use/used and then charge you for it, and then makes it so the best features you now have to annually rent instead of own.  Sorry that's a Tangent, but one I'm pretty sore about.

I do keep an eye on the songwriting section though and though I don't comment I do read and listen to most of the submitted work.

Anyway I'm still around.

Many forums have messenger now, though forums are fast becoming a T-Rex, most are on FB, Twitter snap chat.... etc.   This is the age of instant access and reply.   Most of our member's are Anti FB. some are not.

We have about 20 +/- "Core" and active members.  How often do we get a new member who will post more than once or twice?  This is a issue I have talked to Doug about a few times.  There is a chordie FB but i only check it once in a blue moon because none of my friends are there.  It summer, no one is sitting in front of a puter LOL
