Rather than use a plier or a bridge pin puller. With your strings slack , push the string down the hole that the bridge pin is in and the pin will release and you can pull them out with your fingers, most of the time smile

Thanks for the nice comments,

I know my voice is too low for most of Neil's songs, but my wife and daughter like that song so I wanted to try and get the guitar and harmonica figured out and put together.

Thanks,

Here's a vid I posted before and I think it's the best help I've seen. The guitar guild I belong to had sent this to all the members and it went over well.

Well I did my first recording after my mic input is working. I just used a single mic  about a foot away from the guitar and midway between the guitar and my mouth for height. I used a flat pick and palm muted some.
Equipment used
KSM-27 Shure Condensor Mic
into a Peavey Mixer
Epiphone DR 500 MNS  Guitar  unplugged
Hohner Blues Harp

Howdy,
I just come across this sight and It is a monthly broadcast live with webcam from Daryl Halls house. You can click on past episodes of guests, KT Tunstall, Monte Montegomery, Plain White T's and others. It's pretty cool look at some nice equipment and great musicians.

If you check out the video , notice that the guitars are unplugged and how great the audio is on this and how good the resolution is also.

This song has been covered by thousands, and I think this is one fantastic cover that I hear playing in my head when I play it.

In a recent chat with Topdown , we were talking about singer songwriter Townes Van Zandt and Tops said he wasn't familiar with his music. As of late and too bad we are talking of the late Townes Van Zandt, who led a very tough and self destuctive life. Anyway he is starting to get recognized as one of the best songwriters of our time. Here's a sight that has lyrics and chords to alot of his songs.

Oops ! Sorry Zurf it is still the Key of E   when you play it capo 2 in the D shape . Just alot easier for your fingers to walk around and the country sites I have been on play it capo 2.

I have helped some kids get started and one thing very important. Is the guitar they are trying to learn on playable. The first boy I helped get started come with his guitar and just had a terrible time and got so frustrated cause he couldn't do any of the very basic things I was doing. We switched guitars and his guitar was unplayable, the action was way too high and even in the first position I couldn't fret any strings.
It is normal to have sore fingers when you start, but a beginner should have a guitar that is user friendly. There are alot of good guitars out there that are not expensive.

Another thing some call them cheater chords, but I see nothing wrong with teaching kids shortcuts to get them started strumming a couple chords, then on to some tunes. If they have fun they have abetter chance of sticking with it.

Hey Zurf,

You reminded me of a time I was in New Orleans and was turned on to Beau Jocque the King of Cajun. His CD"s are awesome.

Heya Russell,

Since getting my mic input working I am learning more about recording acoustic guitar. I just have never thought my guitar playing and guitars sounded as good as others. One big reason I have never recorded with a program or tool like audacity.

I am learning mic placement and which guitar also makes a huge difference. I find flat picking the Martin H-D 28 is king, but if I just go with flesh on strings the Yairi is way clearer and sounds very nice, the Martin without a pick has too much bass and muddies the notes together. I have read many, many articles on recording acoustic guitars and it is not easy but I'm am starting to find some sweet spots.
I am having fun  finally getting some nice sound and I haven't done any serious multitracking yet.

Thanks,

Hey Thanks Jeff,

You better start writing me some songs, for the album. I sure can't i shoulda went to school instead of skippin and doing everything I shouldn't have. I resigned to the fact I'll never be a writer or hit the bigtime, but I sure have fun trying smile

Good for you Tuba,
They are precious angels aren't they ? Luke loves his bongos and because Poppy always wears a hat he has to have his cowboy hat on before he will play. Luke still has a short attention span, he's only 4 yrs old, about 10 minutes usually and he's off to see what gramma's doing.

Luke says Thanks,

Luke doesn't have a dad so I guess , I volunteered and we get along great. I seem to have more patience with him than I did with my kids and I try not to push him too much. He loves music so, I let him beat on the bongo drums , play his harmonica or sing in the mic.

That's ok Ken, I question alot of things you say too, but I still think your ok!

God Bless the USA
