for some reason the upload wasn't perfect - a couple times it flashes earlier pictures. Oh well - I couldn't figure out why.
Give it a view - let me know what you think.
It is also on sound cloud if you just want the recording, not the video.

Thanks for giving it a listen !
Jim
Awesome !
Congrats Brian
Just got my vote !!
I agree with Peatle - that is wickedly good!
It has some parts where it was like hysteria or excitement reached a crescendo
It left me wondering what could happen in that song to merit that.
I kept envisioning crusaders coming back home to a castle.
Good stuff
Jim
Trev
Powerful lyrics - hope it's not based on experience.
It is really hard to tell if lyrics fit that soundtrack with out them being melded together.
Good stuff anyway man !
Cheers
Jim
Good one Peatle !
I did not know you were a UKE player.
Nice job
Jim
Ken
That is Hall of Fame in my book !!
Forget the $10 G's man - you've already got it ALL !!
Congrats on a beautiful song and a beautiful relationship with your wife !!
Thanks for sharing
Jim
P.S. Let's hope the wife doesn't get the part where you might metaphorically call her an old piece of canvas!
Great song buddy !
Ken
I never mind when folks here on chordie change things up and I certainly wouldn't be offended.
As I have stated many times - I am only a pretend musician that happens to like writing song lyrics.
My knowledge of music is quite limited in terms of how it actually works, and my playing ability is less than that.
As to my singing ability-well there is none ! I am a cowboy chord guy at best.
I give free license to anyone here to modify and change genre of anything I write and I appreciate all the suggestions and help the kind gents and ladies on here have offered over the past few years. I really miss Strummerboy Bill b/c he was so unique in his assessments and amusements !
Peatle always has some great insights as well in terms of lyrics.
We are so fortunate to have a group in this forum that has such a vast array of talent and interests in different genre.
Thanks for your taking the time to put my words to music.
Cheers to all for Happy 2021 !
Stay healthy and keep the music coming.
Jim
after Phill turned me on to the phrase "it's a nightmare"
Phill also did a brilliant version of it and was working on a make over of it when CHordie went down last night.
With that being said - when I got up this morning I got playing around with (mostly b/c I am not good enough of a musician and couldn't play the chords Phill was playing ) it - and before I knew it - it morphed into a blues style song (which is a lot easier for me). I am good with either version !
Anyway - this is my new version which would not be possible without Phill !
Excellent song and brilliant video production. Very well done guys !
Happy New Year ! Way to start us out Peatle and Phill !!
Cheers
Jim
I thought I'd try writing something that might go into punk, gothic, heavy metal or something like that. (probably b/c Phill told me I was too "mushy " in my last song )
But since I have no clue to how the music of that genre is written - I'll leave to some one else.
(maybe a hint to Beamer or someone ? )
I don't know - but it was kid of fun writing it.
any comments or ideas to improve it would be appreciated
Jim
Wretched Lives
Verse 1
Not a demon to expose your flaws
Nor a savage beast with bloody claws
only your worst fears, fallen into place
when you've lost it all and life’s a waste
Verse 2
gripped by the loneliness of a silent curse
constant reminders , make things worse
when you don't believe it, but yet you know
there’s no one to hold and nowhere to go
Chorus
such is the fate of those with wretched lives
hopelessly waiting for their ships to arrive
too scared to be bold, and face the cruel facts
and haunted by visions of what their lives lack
Verse 3
Hurry to nowhere, like the aimless winds blows
In search of comfort that someone else knows
every hour that passes, and faith slips away
Dreading the darkness , which brings a new day
Nice one Ken ! Very Country ! quite descriptive and on target. The guitar part was like a mix of several well known songs that I thought of- yet copying none of them! Really good performance.
Keep'em coming my friend!! Good stuff!!!
Jim
Ken, Phill, and Peatle
Thanks for giving it a look.
I'm not positive those are going to be the chords for it.
I'm still playing around with it.
yeah Phill - it may be a bit on the mush side..... but it was Christmas so I guess I was a bit emotional.
Peatle - just bring it from the heart - you will write a beauty I am sure.
Thanks again Gents for giving it a look - I appreciate all comments.
I got up this morning thinking about my wife - so I wrote this
Merry Christmas Mojo
Wishing you and Chordie members a New Year that is filled with good health and happiness.
Jim
mortgage lender, mortgage lender you ought to be ashamed
useless inspections, long distanced drives, I'm tired of your games
I told you everything you asked so you could make this sale a go
termite n' septic tests, and a title search - but now you just say no !
Zurf
Have a Happy Holiday anyway!
Cheers
Jim
mortgage lenders, mortgage lenders, they prey on the poor
usury interest rates, always more, more more
here is a start
very clever video Peatle.
Interesting picking technique
Cool song !
Thanks for sharing.
Way to go Zurf
celebrate the shortest day of the longest darn year ever.
things went good til new year's eve
when I was lonely, all by myself
seems she went North with Santa Claus
because she was married to an elf
Sorry Ken
I couldn't resist
I'm looking forward to hearing it too, Phill. But with all the angst and pain that your song evokes, it might be more appropriate to refer to them as "slay bells".
Ken
Or "slayballs" in this case.
Phill
Looks like a good one - I too am waiting for the "sleigh bells" recording.
Jim
Fantastic Ken I love it - you should send it to some famous country singer see if they'd do a cover.
Well, would we expect anything different in this crazy year ?
We just got about 28" of snow dumped on us in 12 hours.
I think it should be noted as SNOWVID-20 !
It is beautiful. Wouldn't it be great if it was a Christmas miracle and somehow the snow eliminated Covid 19 ?
Be safe everyone.
Jim
My musical abilities stink, but I like this song.
Try to imagine someone else sing and playing

Thanks for giving it a listen
Stay safe and enjoy the holiday season.
