It's OK.  You're more than welcome to share your expertise but we've taken a really hard line on commercial posts.  What happens is we get a bunch of brand new accounts that log in and say "I agree!" and then provide a link to their eBay purse store or something like that.  That tends to relax a bit as people become "regulars" though, and we know they aren't just here trying to raise money, but are instead genuinely sharing their work.

I don't think your intent is as a scammer, though, and I am very interested in your Cakewalk expertise as the DAW discussion here seems to be centered around those that use Audacity (almost everyone) and those that use Reaper (me.)  smile   What does your current setup look like?   There is a lot of interest in low cost home recording setups here, so that kind of input is always welcome.

New meat in the sausage is always good!

The great thing about Reaper is that it does everything.  The biggest drawback to Reaper is that it does everything.  smile

Do you have the manual?  It's actually a pretty good couch read, and it's free.

There is absolutely no chance of it.

If I was that dude, I'd have been dressed like Fat Elvis under the space suit.  Just for the lolz.

The camera shots I'm seeing on the internet are spectacular, though.

That's going to be a tough game.  The 49ers are going to be really hot after getting beat by the Giants at home, and while the Seahawks defense is looking like a once in a generation squad, their offense still isn't firing right.   The passing game is terrible and opposing defenses are loading up the box to stop Lynch.

Green Bay punched Houston right in the grill.  Ouch!

Keep the guitar out of it's case when you're at home, next to wherever it is you spend most of your time.   If that's in your room, get a guitar stand and keep it in your room.

The biggest hurdle to get over is one of continual practice.   Students who's only playing time is when they are at lessons don't get any better.   If your guitar is in it's case, then practice at home is a chore.  You have to pull it out of the case.  You have to put it back in the case.   Do away with all of that and keep the guitar handy for when you're sitting there watching TV or staring at the wall.  Then it's easy to get 15 minutes of noodling in.

Comments on those are priceless...   "Is he singing in the key of L?"

That's good stuff right there!

The opening to "It Might Get Loud" features Jack White (of The White Stripes and Raconteurs) building one of these on his porch.

It's worth it to hear him play the thing when he's done.

Whatch where your thumb is on the back of the neck.   If your thumb is reaching over the top of the neck it is much harder to reach.  Put the pad of your thumb on the back of the neck and get your wrist way out in front.

You'll find you can reach those strings after all.

I play D'addario phosphor bronze .13s on my acoustics.   I like the bright tone they provide (especially when new) and the resonance that the heavier strings provide.   When I'm done with this pack, I'll probably throw a set of .14s on just to see how they sound.

Learn on the acoustic.   What you will do with the electric is turn the gain up real high (not that there's anything wrong with that) and cover up any mistakes or misfrets you make.  You will spend all your time futzing with tone and stomp boxes rather than learning to play the instrument.   The acoustic will expose all of that, making you a better player.

Switching to the electric at that point is easy.  Going the other way isn't as easy.

That is insane!  And cool!

I don't think he'll be doing 600+ when he pulls the rip cord, though.   He will most likely hit those speeds way up high in the atmosphere, and slow down as the air around him thickens.  I think terminal velocity of a skydiver at sea level is something like 120MPH.

Yup.  Seahawks drafted him in the third round after signing Packers backup Matt Flynn to a $20 million contract.  Wilson beat him out of the starting spot.

Thats a lot of money to hold a clipboard.

On the final play in the end zone, the Packers are right.   On the bogus pass interference at the beginning of the 4th quarter, the Seahawks are right.  Had the bogus PI call not happened, the Hail Mary at the end of the game wouldn't have happened, either.

One thing leads to another.

In the end, I think we will all agree that the replacement refs are an embarrassment and that they denied these two teams the chance to settle it on the field like they should have.

The last bit was as horific as I've ever seen.   The Seahawk wide out (Golden Tate) committed egregious pass interference and got away with it.  After pushing the Packer defender down, he went up in the air to catch the ball, but the Packer defender reached over him and intercepted it.  He came down with his hands on the ball, but the Packers had control over it.  The refs ruled it a TD anyway.

People should be mad over that call.  It was horrible.  My point is only that had the officials not complete sucked, that play would never had happened.

They gifted the Seahawks 7 points on the last play of the game, but they gifted the Packers 7 (six, they missed the 2 point conversion) earlier in the game, too.

I'm gonna disagree with some of your assessment.

The final play of the game was a travesty for certain, but the touchdown the Packers scored came off a bogus PI call (the defender has as much right to the ball as the wide out) and they scored a field goal off of a blown spot challenge (the yellow line is not definitive, refs).

Bottom line is that the Sadhawks should have never had to throw that Hail Mary, as they should have had a 9 point lead.

And as far as the Packers dominating the second half...  The three Green Bay wideouts had a combined 58 yards receiving the entire game, and they had two scoring drives kept alive by bad calls.

There was bad officiating all over, but the Seahawks put a beatdown on the Pack, and the final result was the right one.

Their defense is shaping up to be an elite unit.  The offense is still pretty mediocre.  Reminds me of the '85 Bears, except not as good.  smile

Here is a search engine for song copyrights.

http://www.ccli.com/Licenseholder/Searc … earch.aspx

And here is another for songs in the public domain.

http://www.pdinfo.com/

If you're in doubt, I'd go with "Don't use it."  If it ends up being copyrighted, the copy  holder has to defend his right or he loses it.  Even if he really thinks "Oh that's just some guy busking in Oahu, no big deal"  his lawyer is going to send you a nastygram.

I just did a ton of recording with the MXL-990, and I still have no complaints.

For the $85 it will run, it's a great mic.
