Just can never go wrong with the 12 bar blues. Great job Graham! I may have to throw that tune in my set list, very cool indeed!

I have the utmost respect for your musical abilities and song writing Graham. And this song is very powerful in content and emotion. But speaking only for myself, and I'm no prude by any stretch, I could never use that word in a song or otherwise. For sure not on a family friendly forum. That being said, you are still one of my favorite posters on this site. jmo.

Very nice Jeff. I really liked the story it told, the chords fit nicely. And you did a fine job performing it as well. I felt this one from the soul. It is a huge complement to you when your music can reach out and touch someone!

Hey Doug,no whining here, lol! At 57,I'm amazed that people still care to even listen to my"hummin n strummin":-) Just wanted to give a time frame and feel of whats it takes to do a simple gig. Some of the folks here know very well what it takes to pull it off. And I encourage everyone to just get out there and give it a shot. Even just a party or circle of friends can be so rewarding and fun! I do thank my lucky stars every time I head out and love every minute of it all. Cause you never know, here today gone tomorrow.

I'm so with you guys. For my Friday night solo gig, got done work at 4:00. Got home and loaded my gear by 5:30. Had a quick bite to eat then arrived at the gig by 6:00, set up and sound check by 6:45. Talked to the owners about announcements of the specials for the evening and had a cold one to chill a little. Started playing at 7:00, took 3 breaks of 15 minutes, had a cold one each time as it was really hot on the deck! I too had some hand cramps here and there all night. Really nice crowd and they were great all night! Supossed to be done at 11:00 but got a few "one more song" requests from the regulars, and finished by 11:30. Started breaking down and loading up, had one more cold one bought by the owner then a couple more from the regulars. Had my wife drive us home at 12:30, got home and unloaded by 1:00 am. No one ever said it would be easy, and it's not, it's tons of work that I love doing. I wouldn't miss a minute of it. Just one more gig. Can't wait till next week!

Re: Acoustic amps - what should I buy? (9 replies, posted in Acoustic)
Hi Blue and welcome to the Chordie forum.
For small gigs I have used the Marshall AS50d acoustic amp. It has two separate channels, for guitar and mic, built in chorus and reverb. It's fairly light to carry and sounds pretty good. You can find these used for around 200.
For a mic you just can't beat the tried and true Shure 58,around 100 new. Have used both of these for many years and they are still working fine.
There are some really nice folks here that will chime in with some other options too.
Wishing you all the best on your musical journey!

Every time you play for people you don't know, you learn something and gain a little more confidence. Good for you Amy! And to have your daughter there to perform with you is just priceless. You will both hold those memories close forever.
We live about an hour and a half drive from there. Monday nights are a little tough, but maybe I can take the Misses along as we have never been to this spot to see a sunset:-) I'd love to hear you sing live!! And I'll be more than happy to play along for a couple songs.
We are on vacation the last week of Aug. but will try to get out there sooner.
