Easier said than done. I didn`t think I would become the next JJJ. Look what happened.

I would love to except I am working again. If we do, it won`t be by Greyhound again. I`ll fly or drive there.

As far as likes, my tastes vary. I can go from one extreme to another. Ask anyone that has seen my songbooks or ridden in my car with me.  Dislike(s)-- Rap.

I`ll be the first to wish you an early happy new year.

Congrats on the NGD. If anyone can appreciate an NGD it`s me. Especially a Japanese guitar from the 60s and 70s.

You should list the songs where this happened. There are a lot of songs on here. They can`t check every one.

That is a great deal. I have been known to buy a case here and there. I have no problem buying a used case.

Just got it back on Wednesday. I don`t know what Gretsch does with the ones that get returned. I think they got the bugs out of the one that I originally bought and sent it back. The reason I say that, the plastic covering on the pickguard has the same scratches that I put on it. It doesn`t matter. This one plays great. Now the question. What does Gretsch do when they have a guitar sent back??

Good job downsizing

I sold 4 pieces to get the Gretsch. I have 10 more pieces at the store on consignment. I am downsizing.

That's not downsizing  - that's just making room for more!

No more after the Gretsch. A lot has changed in the past 2 months. I`m seeing things in a different light. If I do see an unbelievably good deal that I can make money on, maybe. No more just to have them. When all is said and done, I should have around 15 guitars. The Gretsch`s are staying. Along with the equipment I`ve had since I was young.Even the Gretsch`s may be iffy.

Last Friday, I bought a brand new Gretsch New Yorker Archtop. It sounds good. Great plugged into an amp. The action was really stiff. Not high. Really stiff. I brought it back to the store, the manager played it and agreed. I left it for the repairmen to look at. He said it was full of defects. Poorly set up and needed a lot of work. Gretsch is sending a new one and taking that one back. I know it happens. I have never bought a defective guitar before. (and I`ve bought a few). Hopefully, the next one will be ready to go from the factory.

I have Guitar Center and Union Music close by. 15 minutes away in either direction. I will always go to Union Music first. They are a little more expensive. Not that much more. Not enough to go to dinner on the savings. They know me by name. All the employees play. Their service is top notch. Guitar Center is like Wal Mart. I would rather see my money go to the small single store rather than a big conglomerate.

I`ve decided to sell as many guitars as I can. All the Gretsch`s and the Gibson are staying. Along with my Rickenbacker, Epiphone and Silvertone.  Why am I selling them?? They just aren`t doing what they used to. I was compensating by buying guitars. Now they are just taking up space in my house.  For whatever reason, I can`t even stand to look at them anymore.

That'll be awesome, JJJ ... the classic jazz box. I found this informative review on their Gretsch's current version @ Guitar Magazine:

Thanks for posting that. I have an Epiphone Masterbilt Archtop. I love it. It is surprisingly loud. If the gretsch is at least a decent level unplugged, I`m sure I will love it.

JJJ ... I would have thought a new Bread Machine would be a priority purchase with the proceeds from your sales? lol Those are some cool collectibles on the way out, but I'm sure the White Falcon and the Penguin will enjoy having some elbow room. What are you thinking of for the new Gretsch ... a "Jet"?

You may find this hard to believe, I already have a Pro Jet. Next is a New Yorker. I have an Epiphone Masterbilt archtop and love it. Now a Gretsch archtop is in the cards. More will be going soon. Now I have 8 in the music store on consignment.

4 more guitars and 2 VOX amps are now on consignment. A newer Harmony Acoustic.A 1950s Kay Jumbo. Fender Brown Derby Resonator. And a 1962?? Harmony Silvertone Jupiter. I looked at how much use they get. Started to look around my house. Trying to get down to 15-20 guitars. All the Gretsches are staying. Plus 4 pieces I have had since the early 80s. I do plan to get one more Gretsch with the money from the consignment sales.
