Apologies for the singing and playing It was a quick take on computer mic.
All comments appreciated.
My niece just came home from 6 months of treatment ( 13 days in the hospital, 13 weeks in residential, and 7 weeks in partial hospitalization.)
She was a real trooper - and has now re-entered ninth grade to get her life gong again.
First three days have gone great - hoping that it continues down a favorable path.
I was thinking today of what it was like for her and all the other like her with such problems.
So I wrote this song today, thinking about her.
Brian
Brilliant piece of writing.... methinks in the end it was death in the fast lane all along.
Might wonder if any of those men she slept with ended up in a similar way.
Cheers

LOL
Actually, I was doing both. I would cast out into the surf - set the pole in the holder and sit in my chair and read or play my small martin that I bring to the shore. Also an occasional beverage !
I was actually fishing when she came along. Most of the story is made up, but she was definitely a different women. She did have two oysters that somehow melded together - and she did ask about a pearl inside. She started talking about visions and energy - saying she was looking for a sign from her mother. She was really an interesting woman. When she left, I was sitting there thinking about her and what she said - and then it occurred to me that I never even asked her what her name was. During the whole week I kept watch - but never saw her again.
Hence - the song.
Thanks for giving it a read.
Jim
Well this is what you get when you sit on the beach with a guitar and woman comes up and talks for a bit... and then walks away into the sun.
Phill
Pretty grim scenario
Life sure has many different worlds that people exist in.

Peatle,
I get so upset when I see the so called homeless people with their signs - "can you spare a buck", "Veteran - need $ for Hospital bills", etc, etc, etc... lots of pity signs.
Then You look closer and see they are on their I-phone or are wearing a nice watch, or $200 sneakers
I took a picture of the guy that always sits outside of our local mall the other day...... in the back ground of the picture, were four businesses all with help wanted signs.
I pulled up - he came over for a handout - I rolled down the window and asked him if he wanted a couple hundred bucks- he said yeah - I then pointed at the signs and said go apply for a job there and pointed at the signs - slowly pulled away dropping a $1 bill out the window.
I suppose he still won bc he got my $1,
They are all over. I read once that if a beggar was on a city street, and and the flow of human traffic was 200 people an hour and if just 1 in 10 people gave him $5 - an 8 hour day would net them - tax free - $800 ! x 5 days a week = 4,000 x 52 weeks = $208,000 (tax free)
Peatle - I know that are many that truly need help - but there are so many that are looking for ........ well, as P.T. Barnum said " There's a sucker born every minute" !
Thanks for sharing your poem.
Jim
Well written Peatle - so true

Ok - I was reading about the group Steely Dan and found out how they came up with the name of their band. If you don't know - it's based on a girl named Mary during the chapter of the book entitled ‘A.J.’s Annual Party’. The book is William S. Burrough’s Naked Lunch - you can find out the meaning if you look it up - cause I don't want to get banned .
As a result - I couldn't resist writing a song that would entwine it with a marriage.
this is the song - used a few (there are 6) titles from their Steely Dan albums for lines ( BTW Steely Dan is awesome and I have several of their albums.) , a few innuendos as well.
I tried to be clever . I kinda wish I knew how to write in a Steely Dan music style ( maybe an instrumental jazzy like piece).
It's kind of a sad song, but I can't help laughing when I play it. Slàinte Mhath!
Brian,
That was a really great song -well done ! I too enjoyed the whistling at the end - really added to the imprint of the room on my mind. Thanks for sharing.
Jim

Lulu- the song To Sir With Love - a classic!!
This song with husband didn't do much for em.
Peatle
That was funny !
Conny has "a nice voice" !
This was unbelievable.... as I listened I thought of Jan singing this.
They end is mind blowing!!!
Peatle and Phill
Thanks for the cultural education.
Now I have Molly Malone stuck in my head, but it is a cool song.
I found this version - and loved it - I'm sure with St. Patties Day coming up, there will be a few pubs singing it.
AS for cockles - I never knew what hey were - and my only knowledge of them was from the poem " Mary,Mary, Quite Contrary....."
Now for the winklepickers and teddyboys - I never heard of them before - but of course I had to research them. I guess I missed out on that fad - but I did come across many pictures of the beatles wearing them in the very early days (1960-62) and how they then became all the rage with what in America became known as " Beatle Boots".
It's amazing how much history you can acquire through music.
Thank you boys for the leads.
CHEERS !
Jim
PS Phill did you wear those shoes when you were younger and playing gigs ?
Cocklers !!! Now there's a word worth looking up for sure !
Phill
LMAO - I had to go here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUECl-ey9aA
to find out what you meant. That is awesome. I also learned about cheese and - and favorite new word - knobbies !!
It was really interesting.
I look forward to seeing what you can do with those lyrics.
Peatle - Thanks for the kind words.
JIm
Well, I don't know how to play rock music very well
so someone else may have to carry the torch on this one.
Might be a few innuendos hidden.:)
All comments appreciated.
Peatle
