Hi and welcome to the forum.  There's no Dm that I hear, but this is what I DO hear.

Intro:  Em-Em, then a riff:  3X [E:0h2 3, A:0h2, D:0] then 1X [E:0h2 3, A:0h2 0]
Verse:  (Em)Van- ... (Am)last ... (C)mighty ... (D)bold,  (Em)big ... fare(Am)well fare(C)well to (D)Clayquot (Em) Sound
Then the second opening riff played twice:  2X [E:0h2 3, A:0h2 0]
Verse:  (Em)NDP . . . (Am)play ... (C)all ... (D)boys,  (Em)Sold ... (Am){?*} (C)cut and (D)that's ... (Em) sent.
Then the first part of the opening riff played once:  [E:0h2 3, A:0h2, D:0]
Chorus:  (C)Blow ... (D)blow ... (Em)down ... (C)dead ... (G)night ... (D)into ... (Em)ground, (Am){?*} ... (x2x210**){?*} ... (C)Clayquot (D) Sound, (C ring)take ... (Em)down
Then another verse.
Then a riff.
Then a chorus.
Then a riff played twice.
Then another verse.
Then a riff.
Then two choruses back to back.
Then a riff.
Then the outro:  (Em) … (Am) …  (D) … (Am)sound
End on a riff.

* = I can't understand the lyric here
**  =  Start with the previous chord (Am) and move your middle finger from the D string to the A string 2nd fret and mute the D with the pad of your middle finger.  It's a walkup from Am to C.

Good luck with it.

Jeff:  Thanks a million for hosting.   Great fun as usual.  Always a pleasure to hear you, Zurf and Roger play, and today I got to "meet " normtheguitar, who, by the way, is an amazing player.  My thanks to all of you for sharing your talents.

norm:  "I've never played this one before, but I'll have a go.":  Superstition by Stevie Wonder.  Just . . . wow.

For those of you who missed out, make it a point to join next time.  You won't be sorry.

Jeff (the host) is one of my skype contacts, but I don't know how to find his skype name.  Keep checking back.  He may post it here.

OK.  Whatever works for you.

My ear definitely does NOT hear C-Em, but if that's what you hear, cool.

I did make one mistake.  I said the chords were C and B, but I think it should be C and Bb.  I get really close to the sound when I capo 5 and play open G and a D shape on fret 5 (which is really fret 10), playing strings 1-3 only.

Good luck!

This "request" is a bit too generic IMO.  If you're looking for something specifc, holla back.

A link to a recording would help as well.

Yee-aah  boy-eeee!   Dat's what I'm talkin' 'bout!

Or something.

Seriously . . . this is some GREAT fun.  I can't sing nor play worth a darn, but it's the only real chance you'll have to put faces to names.  If you don't want to play, just hang out and have a good time with us.  Drinking is strongly encouraged.  It's aways after 5:00 somewhere, but on Saturdays, who cares?

Welcome to the forum.

For strumming patterns, if you want to play a song like the original, it's always good to see if you can find a video of the original artist playing it.
In this case, you're in luck.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MupLeiXXd4

I just recommend you watch and listen to the videos and try to emulate what he is doing with his strumming hand.

Thanks for clarifying, Roger.

Stop911:  It's a bit hard to decipher becase he is fingerpicking and not strumming, but I think the song is in G.
The intro is G and C, and the verse is G, C and D.  On "seems" @1:33, that's an F#m.  That's as far as I went with it.  Play around with those and you've likely got it covered.

Of course if you want to fingerpick it like he does, you'll have to look for a tab, not chords.

Hi and welcome to the forum.  I'm not going to be of any help on either of these.

Don't Mess With Me (Temposhark):  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMeWTcPOLGg
Maybe someone with a good ear for musical composition can take the combination of the notes being played by the strings (cellos?) and the melody being sung and turn them into chords for you, but I'm not that good.

Diseased (Seether):  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MOQOVPXZwg
Sounds like a "death metal ballad", if there is such a thing.  smile
Sounds like the intro and verse center around F#m.  I think I hear a progression similar to F#m - Bm - E - Bm.  At about the 1:05 mark, the death metal vibe (distorted and muted power chords) kick in.  That progression might work for them also.

Best I can do for you.  I know there are several members who monitor this forum that have great ears for this sort of thing.  Hopefully one of them can give you more help that I can.

I don't know anything about Larrivee, but I have both a Martin (D-35) and a Taylor (814ce).  The Martin sounds better but is harder to play.  The factory action on the Martin is really high and once it gets lowered (if you choose to lower it) it loses some intonation, but still sounds great.  The Taylor sounds almost as good but it plays like butter without any setup.  If they (Taylors) are not overpriced, it's a better investment IMO.

Glad to hear everything is OK with you and yours, and prayers to all who are suffering loss.

I don't want to get on a soapbox, because I could rant for hours about this topic.  I'll just say that regardless of your race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation or whatever, I would like to believe that there is a special place in hell for anyone who knowingly and (especially) willingly harms the innocent.

Hi Stop911.  We can't post songs on Chordie.  It's a search engine.  More info here:
http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=4613

Are you sure you got his name right?  I Googled STEPHEN FAIRING and got no hits whatsoever.  Wasn't even searching for chords, just his name.

Sorry, I tried.  Nice song, but I just can't crack it.

And I will agree that beamer IS the resident metal head around here.  smile

Sorry, I can't be any of help on this one.  I can usually figure out chords, but when it comes to trying to duplicate somebody like David Gilmour (especially high on the fretboard), then I'm pretty much useless.

I did a number of internet searches and came up empty.  Maybe somebody who (unlike me) is a real guitar player can decipher it for you.  Hang in there.

I won't be much help on these, but in the spirit of "something is better than nothing" . . .

Scatterlings of Africa:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0LgLQPF_WA

I can give you the intro:  Capo fret 3 and play F - C - G.  Unusual song structure.  My guess is that it's in the key of Bb if that's of any use to you.

Digging ... :  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_B6UfaykoRg
This live acoustic version is in the key of G.  I can give you the chorus:
(C)Wanderers ... have (G)gone ... (Am)chieftans ... (C)will ... (G)rain ... (D)birds
(Am)who ... (G)to speak ... (C)seasons ... (Em)ravens ... (D)crows ... (C)soak ... (C)skies

The verse centers around Em.

Anyway, that's all I got.  Good luck.

From what I can glean from YouTube, "Avila" and "Sweet Peace" are the same song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPR389YKAWs

The video is for a song called Avila, but the chorus says "Sweet Peace" in it twice.  So I'm assuming they're the same thing.  Anyhow . . .

It's in the key of B.  The guitarist in the video is capo'ed on fret 7 using E fingering to get the B.  I'm not gonna do that because there's an easier way.  Instead, put a capo on 2 and use A fingering.  It will sound good enough IMO.

Intro:  Alternate between D and A

Chorus:
(D)Oh ... (A)peace ... (D)never ... (A)fallen ... (D)never ... (A)fallen ... up(E)on this (E)town
(D)Oh ... (A)peace ... (D)never ... (A)fallen ... (D)never ... (A)fallen ... up(E)on this (A)town.

Then a short interlude in A.

Verse:  (Note:  The verse is identical to the chorus, except substitute two F#m chords for the D and A at the beginning of the second half like this:)
(D) ... (A) ... (D) ... (A) ... (D) ... (A) ... (E)everything (E) burned
Have you for(F#m)gotten ... (F#m)live here ... (D) ... (A) ... (D) ... (A) ... (E) ... (A)

Then another chorus.
Then a solo (violin in the video) which follows the verse chords.
Then another verse.
Then another chorus.
Then a chorus where the audience sings along.
Then the outro, which is another violin solo that follows the verse chords.

And that's it.

Hi David and welcome to the forum.

Chordie does not host any songs.  It is a search engine which goes out to the interwebz and grabs what it can from certain spots and puts them into the library.

More detail here:  http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=4613

In the meantime, I suggest google.  I don't know if "Ilo" and "Ilo Ferrera" are the same artist, but I googled ILO CHORDS and got several hits for Ilo Ferrera.

Welcome to the forum.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfzGhyx3R_U

The song is in the key of A.
The main chord of the song is A, and in the verse he changes to E for a beat and then back to A.  Example: "... (E)to come (A)back" at 0:37.

The chorus can be played as:
(A)long (D)long (E)long (A)gone (X2)
It won't sound quite the same as the recording unless you use a descending bass line, which would be best played on (wait for it) a bass.

Anyway, that's my ear.  Good luck with it.

Please help with the chords for this.
Artist:  The Damn Quails
Song:  Down

It's a 1-4-5 in the key of G, which means the main chords are G, C and D, with an occasional C9, and a G7 thrown in from time to time for resolution to C.

I used the live version from YouTube.

Intro:  D - G - C9 - G - C9 - G - D - G (listen closely for the timing of the changes, not all are the same).

Verse:
Well ... (C9)walkin' (G)down (C9) ... (G)road ... (G7)seeds ... (C)sorrow ... (G)grows ...
(C9)turn a(G)round ... (C9)what's ... (G)use ... (G7)(C) there's ... (G)sign ... be(D)hind ... (G)lose.
Second half of the verse follows that same pattern.

Chorus:
(G) Well ... (G)down ... (D)down
goin' (G)down (G7)down (C) ... (G)bottom ... (D) solid ground (G)

Then a solo which follows the verse chords played a few times through.

Then another verse.

Then two choruses back-to-back.

Anyway, that's close.  Good luck with it.

No problem.  Welcome to the forum.

The chords are C and B.  You can approximate the sound if you do this:

1.  Put a capo on fret 5 and pretend it's the nut.

2.  Play an open G (320003) and fingerpick strings 1, 2 and 3.  (Really all you need to do is fret the high e on fret 3.)

3.  Play a D shape on fret 5 (xx00565), and again, fingerpick strings 1-3.

It's in the key of B.  To make playing it easier, you might put a capo on fret 2 and play this:

A - Amaj7 - F#m - D - A - E - D - Dm - A

That's the intro.  The rest of the song is probably variations on these.  I didn't listen to it all.

What are the bandanas for?

Apparently, it's "flair".  Flair makes everything better.

There's a minimum amount of flair required.  Observe:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5YClmS3umk

I ran across this today.  Impressive.
