Welcome to the forums, you will find great information here to help you. Roll your hand forward bending your wrist so that your fingers are coming down straight on the strings, this will help you get clean chords. If you spend some time checking old posts you will lear a lot. Learn Em and Am using your middle ring and pinky fingers, this will help when you get to barre chords. Most importantly practice, practice and more practice.

I am contemplating the purchase of a new chain saw to clean up the 4 pine trees on the ground in my back yard. I have a couple of cheap saws but I find I am wearing myself out trying to keep them running long enough to cut anything. I have read many reviews and am leaning toward a Stihl with a 45 cc engine and 18" bar or a Husqvarna with a 46 cc engine and an 18" bar. The Stihl is about $20 cheaper and their seem to be many more die hard Stihl fans willing to write reviews for their saws. Does anyone have any experience or opinions to share?

I have to agree with Russell on this one, Brad is one of the best pickers out there right now. I find the subject matter of his songs to be very entertaining and much different than most of todays country songs. I'm Gonna Miss Her, Ticks, Mud on the Tires, I'm Still A Guy and Online are just a few. He also has some great songs that are more serious in subject matter such as Anything Like Me, He Didn't Have to Be, We Danced and She's Everything. If you are not familiar with his music just check him out. Zurf, I'm with you on Zac Brown Band, they are very good also.

Try this

Capo 2
G
D
EM
C

He is switching from g to Cadd9, he also plays D sus with the D. If I'm wrong someone will correct but that is what it looks like to me.

Yeah I would have thought it was a rock too until I picked it up, it is heavy. If I can't find out exactly what it is I'm gonna call it a rock and chuck it out in my yard.

It is not a lode stone as those appear to be magnetic and this is metallic not magnetic. It looks like a rock so it is not slag from a smelter. It was found in North Carolina. Here are some pictures if I have done this correctly. One of the pictures shows where a section was cut off with a band saw at a steel shop. Notice the green colors, rust and what looks like iron that has been melted. As I said before the meteorite men said it is not a meteorite but we have not found anyone who can ID it. It was found in close proximity to a known meteorite find called Mayo Dan.

I was just curious if anyone on here is into geology or meteorites? I have an odd rock that is much too heavy for its size and has metallic properties as a magnet will stick to it. A sample was sent to the meteorite men and they say ir is not a meteorite but that does not explain what it is. If anyone can help I can send pictures.

Also try searching using "cover" and you will get people and their guitar, much easier to follow than trying to watch professional musicians and figure out what they are doing. I have not heard that song in years but here are a couple of examples that sound pretty good.

I am challenged by the same problem but as you suggested it is possible to put it all together. For me it was a combination of rythm and confidence that kept me from progressing. Once I gained some confidence I began to overcome the the rythm problem. I still have a long way to go to get where I need to be but at least now I can sing and play along with friends and family at gatherings.

Read the instructions closely. I wasn't putting in the image tags at the beginning and end of the url so mine never showed up as pictures in the post. The tags are [img]at the beginning and end it with[/img]. Also if you are getting your pictures from facebook you have to double click the image and open it up in order to copy the image location otherwise all you are doing is posting a link to your facebook page. It is all complicated but if you keep trying you will figure it out. If you want to email me the link to your pictures I will email you back step by step instructions on how to do it.

Bm7 has long been the one chord I have avoided even trying to learn. I have just realized that lifting my ring finger on a Bm barre should be the same as a Bm7 so I guess I don't have to avoid that chord anymore. Zurf, it may be time for you to face the B and don't worry we will be right here with you the whole time.

It took me years to learn them but now I can play them in songs. Pick a song you really like that has barres and keep practicing. For me Way Out Here by Josh Thompson was the song that forced me to learn them A-Bm-A.

I have decided to pass on this one. I thought the logo on the headstock was newest design they used but the adjustable bridge got me wondering. Alvarez does make a good entry level guitar but I already have one. I did not know that about Yairi and Alvarez, I did think that Yairi was the premium line of guitars made by Alvarez.

Thanks Pix, that is what I remember reading some time ago about these. I have not read a bad review or comment on them other than the neck reset you mentioned in the Alvarez post. I am going to look at it and hope the action is good because they are supposed to sound amazing.

Does anybody know when they stopped making the FG 340 with the 3 piece back? I know they  restarted the series at some point but I think the ones from the 70's and 80's were the ones with the 3 piece back. I have come across one for $100 dollars and it seems to good to pass up. According to the serial number is was made in 67,77,87,97, or 07 but I think the 3 piece back dates them to 77 or 87. Anyway it looks really nice and for $100 I think I have to have it.

Can anyone identify the possible age of this guitar as well as a potential value? It is a Alvarez regent 5212.

I am looking or a vintage Alvarez or Yamaha guitar. The seller does not know the age of this guitar. The headstock looks 90's but it looks like adjustable bridge which I thought was a feature on older guitars. I think it is just another laminate guitar but I don't want to miss out if it is something special.
