Old Doll.. i laughed so much at the Nike Air line.. lmao!! haahaa...
This year, gosh, i don't know what we're gonna do!! Our kids are now 16, 13 & 7. Money is very very tight, so it's gonna be a stretch to come up with around £100 each for them. There will be no gifts for brothers/parents/nieces/nephews from us this year. BUT, we'll be together, our family all congregate at Christmastime, probably the only one time in the year we do all get together at the the same place, at the same time! The children wont go without, they get plenty from other family members, and this year Xmas is gonna be stretched out over 3 days. 25th here at home, 26th with hubby's family, & 27th we'll go over & see my mum and my brothers and their families will be there too.
Now, here's something i wish for, but i doubt i'll get. My brother owns a Mexican Strat, which he bought a few years ago. He got sacked by his teacher for not practising enough, hehe. He can only play G & D chords. So, i've kinda hinted a few times, that that guitar deserves to be played, properly! Not left in a box under his bed!
Who thinks i'll get a long oblong box for Christmas..? LOL.. me.. i very much doubt it...

Re: lefthanded people with right handed guitars. (22 replies, posted in Electric)
I'm a lefty, but i find it actually helps when it comes to playing my 'standard' guitar! My left hand is the ones that is 'used' to taking instructions... so when it comes to shaping chords, etc, i find it easy. Maybe, i'm just a natural guitar player, & it has nothing to do with being left-handed...?

lol.. NELA!
Quantum, I'm so pleased to hear of somone who has, like me, once more got back into guitaring! I learned when i was 10/11... and then didnt touch a guitar for 20 years. I always regretted not keeping it up. 5-6 months ago, i accquired an old classical guitar, & once more my lust for music was reborn. After a few weeks of tinkering with it, my hubby bought me a beautiful acoustic, and a few weeks later, a lovely electric Ibanez. In the few months, I've learned LOTS! And yes, mainly from the wonderful resource that is CHORDIE !
So, i'd like to join you in saying a big THANKYOU to those who dedicate their time and effort. xx

Re: Question about child's guitar (10 replies, posted in Acoustic)
Hi.. If you're not sure, i'd take it along to a shop & have them put the correct strings on for you. They'll know which ones, & also do them properly! No offence meant there. I totally screwed up the 1st time i changed my strings. So if you go along, & have them show you how to do it, you'll know for next time.

Re: Retail Attitude (9 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
The shop i got my acoustic from, the staff were great, couldn't have been more helpful. BUT, when it came to buying my electric, it's a different story. I'd only been playing my acoustic a few weeks, so was still a beginner. As soon as we walked into the shop, i got a 'look' from one of the salespersons. I'm stood there gazing at all the guitars, not really knowing what the heck i'm looking AT! We'd only gone in to have a look, really. Eventually the sales guy come over, asks what i'm looking for. So i explain i'm a new player, & would like an electric. So he picks down this Ibanez & shows me & start s this reel of waffle. So i says, i really have no clue what ur on about! Instead of explaining what he was saying, he plugs it in & plays some awesome Riff, & i must say, he played good. Then he gvies it to me, & i do a cpl of bars of knocking on heavens door, & Wonderful Tonight. He looked at me, as if to say, damn, why are you bothering?! I felt totally small & inferior. So then i ask about an amp. Well.. long story, but he gave us a great deal on the Ibanez & the amp together, probably thinking we wouldn't buy. We went away to think about it, went back 30 mins later... & ya shoulda seen his face when we said we'd take the deal he offered! It was like 'shit, i've gotta let them have it..! So i did get a good deal out of the place, but the salesperson was a smarmy, slimey git!

Hi Naomi. Welcome to the forum.
I'm not familiar with the song you mention, but yes, for sure you can change chords mid-strum pattern.

No disrespect or offence taken, Russell..! As i post more on the forum, & you 'get to know' me better, you'll discover my sense of humour is rather dry.. lol....
But, you're absolulely right, that there are marked differences between men & women.. like, for instance, a woman will read a manual when she gets a new piece of equipment, where-as a man, will turn it on & expect to know how it works without reading the manual.. then get annoyed 'cos he can't work it..!

Hi Russell. Thanks for the reply... I'm using Audacity, are we talking the same software? But, yes, i could hear the playback, but i had to keep it quiet because it -re-recorded the bits that were playing & made it sound terrible. So how do i get this...? Can i plug in headphones? I feel like a complete idiot.. LOL

Hi..:) Is anyone familiar with the above effect pedal..? I've been given one by my brother (who has a fender strat, & can only play A, G & D chords! the guitar sits in a dusty case going to waste, i say he should give it to me, lol.. a guitar should be played, not left in a box! )
Anyways, back to the RP100... what can i do with it..? I've played with all the pre-sets, & found some nice effects to play stuff like 'Apache'.. & a cpl of GunsNroses. But what else can it do..? Can you 'mix' the effects? My amp isn't great, a Marshall15CD.
Thanks for any suggestions

......at recording something, & it was absolutely pants! (rubbish!) I tried recording me playing 'love is all around'... I did 4 'layers'.... one of the into, picked,... then i did the strumming for the verses and choruses, then i did the lyrics. then added in some extra picking & ohhhhs & ahhhhhs.
But when it all came together, it was awful..! My timing was out by miles.
Back to the drawing board i guess...............

'Music can lift your spirits or make you weep, angry, and like no other form of human expression'
Isn't that just the truth..! When i'm in a really happy mood, i like listening to 'The Levellers'. I find their music jolly & upbeat, & it enhances my good mood.
If, i'm in a sad mood, i try & avoid certain music.. ie, slushy love ballads. Sad songs make me weepy.
