"there's no problem ....only solutions" -  John Lennon.

Just gigged saturday night at a backyard party with a crowd of about sixty.......well only fifteen people turned up.
Talk about loading your gear up for nothing!
Guess who else didn't turn up ........the drummer!
Anyway, it went alright until the guest guitarists in the crowd decided to join in for a jam.
Let me see.....mmmmm, there was a Neil Young, there was a 14yro starting out Kirk hamett just guitar instrumental ( has anyone heard a metal shredder with no drums and bass?) ? and then there was some dude who sounded like his guitar was being dragged behind a car on a chain.....lol....hilarious - the things we do.

I once went too a small rural village in norther NSW for the Christmas break, with the family- I was having dinner in this club, when there was a local entertainer there by the name of Jonny T.He was singing away, coming around the tables serenading the woman. He was playing the usual Eagles and country hits, a few other pop songs.Anyway the place we where staying at happened to be in the back of the local Handmade chocolate shop - man if you could only taste these chocolates......well around midnight I gazed across the road to the pub, and the place was jumping, loud acoustic music blaring away - so I left the missus  and joined in with Johnny T who happened to be jamming at the pub(can't keep a good man down) so anyway the publican now kicked us out - damn where to go. back to the chocolate shop garage, man what a night - the chocolatier (my mates wife) was not impressed. The things we do for muzac!

Man that is the funniest thing I have read in a long long while...LOLOLOLOLOL.
I have read many classic books from Orwell to Hunter S Thompson, but what I just read is up there with the best.
When is your book coming out......I want the first signed copy.
Stubby little fella..hahahahaha!Classic
I'm smiling as I write this.
I hope my guitar ventures put me in some southern out of the way places with characters like Mooma Donna.....oops maybe not.LOLOLOL

I recently played at a hotel room that my cousin booked with his girl.
We started playing and singing at 1.00 pm in the morning-
I really thought thats it, there's going to be a knock on the door soon.
Luckily we got away with it till 3am.
As I was leaving the hotel a guy in a white terri toweling dressing gown asked me to play in his room.
Thanks mate - BUT.......I gotta go -
Anyone one else got performance stories?

I started off with riffs - Satisfaction- Smoke on the water-sunshine of your love......blah blah......BLAH
Then I learnt a few chords playing Passenger -
Then, when I really picked up the guitar I played Bowie - I still do.............
He was my inspiration - always will be.

Wow, a spiritual topic - I love it. Ok here's my piece of the pie......
I started playing guitar because I heard this musician play in Sydney when I was a wee little lad, his name was David Jones from Brixton.I think we are all influenced by someone who made us want to do something different. Then my daughter was born, and now she is the biggest influence in my life.It just gets better and better-you just have to keep going and tap into positive influences in order to get through what is really a hard task to undertake.Yeah defianantly from the heart..........

man, start with the golden oldies-stand by me (lennon), for appregio work - house of the rising sun(animals).
Stand by me is just G-Em-C-D - you have to learn these basic songs. You have to be able to strum through these songs.
Why - because this will help you to develop rythym and timing. Then learn all the other fancy stuff.
Appregio's on the guitar is picking single note chords rather than the strumming through the whole chord.
You could also try Knocking on Heavens door which the gunners did.
G-D-Am  G-D-C
Have Fun -

I have been playing guitar off and on for about ten odd years - I have only now really got into soloing!
I picked up little riffs here and there, but I mainly played songs;heaps of chords-heaps of songs.
What I am trying to say is this - Basically concentrate on one scale pattern - the most popular by far is the minor Pentatonic shape - Learn not only the technique involved, but also the SOUND- train your ear! This is really important!
To really begin to understand how scales fit in with chords, play blues based riffs - mainly in E and A - then solo over the blues riff using the E or A minor pentatonic shape. This will get you started on your journey, there is heaps out there, this is just a taste test. I am now up to the modes(wish me luck).

Thankyou so much guys for your help, really appreciate it.

I'm a little bit ambitious - I have done woodwork projects in the past.
What I want to do is put a fixed pickup in my acoustic guitar.
I have bben told that you cut out the spot with a knife ( stanley knife )
Does anyone have any tips.
Regards Armen.

How do you memorize the notes on the fretboard?
How long is will it take me too get proficient at soloing? (sorry you don't have too answer this one )
I have been playing chords for the last six years.
Thanks.

One day you will get bored - playing the same old open major chords -
When that day comes, The fret will expose its hidden talent.
You don't only play the first eight keys on a piano do you?
You play the whole lot - The guitar is no different!

Thanks for reply postings - I got my Wah, had too travel kms to get it.There was a bomb threat on a bus on my way there. All this for a wah pedal,it's pretty cool it has great sampling of some famous pedals of all time ( The main man Jimi is featured in one, another is a vox wah ) I might create a riff based on terrorist threats, come up with a wall of wah sounding effects that scream;tormented by the happenings in the world. It is a pretty unique sound the old Wah - White room is a fine example, I alo love Jimi's use - I sure the stone roses guitarist used it once too.I can sort of picture it's use in a Smashing Pumpkins ...Gish sort of sound.

Just brought a Boss Wah pedal with inbuilt effects -
Cannot wait too try it out tonight-FOXY LADY!
