As you can see, after much work the Songbooks are now back. There is still an issue with the 'Search' feature which is being worked on and hopefully it will not be much longer before this is also fixed.

I have checked through Chordie and I cannot find any other issues but please report in this thread if you find anything. Thank you.

Just had another message that the technicians will need to close the server down for a couple of hours during the repair. I am not sure exactly when this will happen but hopefully we are on the last leg of sorting this out.

Hi again Guys and Gals,

I have just received the following two messages from Per:

Message One:
"Currently I am still having disk issues. I am running a so called 4-disk raid array. Not to get too technical here, but this should be close to failsafe. All data is duplicated on at least two disks, so I will not lose data.

I have now made a total backup of almost all the data (except the crashed table). I have started to insert new disks. In raids you can do this, and it rebuilds the index. It should take a couple of hours. All went fine until the third disk slot. It is refusing to accept this disk. So far the technicians have thrown away two disks as faulty. Trying again right now. When the raid array is completely rebuilt though, things are more or less done."

Message Two:
"Good news from the technicians. Seems like I finally got a green light on disk 3 out of 4. Rebuilding that disk now."

The more technical minded will make sense of this and, for people like me, hopefully it will not be too much longer before before Chordie is back to normal.

Sorry Guys and Gals,

The problem is taking a bit more time to sort out than first estimated but rest assured that it is being worked on and will be up and running as soon as the technical issues have been resolved.

Sorting the Songbook issue is taking a little longer than anticipated but hopefully it will not be much longer.

To keep everyone up to date. There has been a technical hitch, your Songbooks will appear to be empty but Per, the site master, is sorting it out. He has told me to ask to you to be patient and advise you that it will take between 24 to 48 hours to fix. There may be other anomalies during the fix so please do not get concerned.

The red boxed Songbook message will be removed from the Home page when it is fixed but please report any further issues after this in this thread.

To add to the difficulty there was also an American rhythm and blues band called The Spinners and I am guessing the few songs listed under that name are probably their's.

Phill it is 62 years since I got my first (a 4 string plastic 'Elvis Presley' marked one), sadly it was broken years ago but I wish I still had it. Like you I now have 8, six here in Portugal and two in the UK, none are particularly expensive (not like my pal who has a €16,000 and a €10,000 Martin) but all mine play well and I also have 6 ukuleles.

Christmas 1958 my brother and I with our  guitars: lol

Hi Thomas,

If you go to the right of the page and click on the pencil symbol, this will open the name change procedure.

Feliz Aniversário Maria e parabéns por ter completado cem anos de idade. Grande abraço e continue dançando.

As you have a Welsh greeting, here is a Portuguese one, and translated is:

Happy Birthday Maria and congratulations on reaching one hundred year of age. Big hug and keep dancing.

If you are still having difficulties please let us know what equipment and operating system you are using to enable us to try and help you.

You missed out part  of the statement (and there is a typo in it) and reading only part of a statement can lead to misunderstandings.
"You can include songs in the index (and automatically take advantage of features like formatting, transposing, instrument selection, songbook etc. However, the songs will have to be available online. Send the link to me, and I might 'include' it the next time I re-index Chordie."
Omitting the "Send the link to me......" part changes what was intended by that statement.

My friends use SongSheet pro - Chord Charts, http://songsheetapp.com/ and, if it was not on an iPad, I would have this. I was hoping for something similar for android.

Has anyone used a programme to display and scroll song sheets on an android tablet? I know that there is one available for an iPad that will also play a backing track which will control the speed of the scroll, but I was looking for something similar for android.

Your recommendations and help appreciated.

Roger
