Ken, Phew..I'm not feeling to bad after that ... was expecting much worse! hehehe! I should have expressed myself better, by crap I meant my playing. The same old strum patterns to the same songs with no concerted effort to push myself to develop as a player. I don't suppose there would be much point in strumming to crap, kinda defeats the purpose eh!? Yeah, I too love to fingerpluck, in fact just this week I learnt the pattern and progression to Clapton's 'Wonderful Tonight' which is probably one of my favourite songs of all time! Would love to know if anyone knows where I can get the tab for the intro to that song?
Constructive criticism in the form of whispers most welcome! <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_rolleyes.gif" border=0 alt="Rolling Eyes">
Guys n Gals! I come on here quite often for probably the same reason that most of us do, that is to see how others approach problems that we face, to get good ideas on how to improve our technique, to get inspiration to go away and try and apply what we have seen or for those of us that are more skilled, to impart advice to those of us that are just starting out! I appreciate all ideas and advice on here whether that be constructive or not! I know I need to learn scales etc, but its all too easy to just pick up my geetar and strum along to some crap ... I'm thick skinned enough to realise that the occasional telling off and reminder of what I SHOULD be doing to improve is probably a good thing! (Please don't shout at me!)
Mornin!
I added myself to myspace the other day ... the address is myspace.com/christrower
As yet I have no friends on there and beginning to feel like a bit of a billy no-mates! Feel free to drop on by and say hi!
Oh, anyone know where I can pick up a nice Gibson for quite cheap (if there is such a thing or have I just blasphemed?)!
Cheers. I haven't been able to find anything on the web for that tho ...
That's not a bad idea, cheers. I've always been a bit dubious about pick-ups that are put in at a later date ... have heard a couple of bad things about em, although I obviously have no idea! A Martin eh? Have you got one that I could have for a couple of hundred quid!?
i officially hate barr chords! no matter what i do, i just dud the strings every time! I know, I know...practice practice! perhaps its my crap guitar! (bad workman blaming his tools!?) hehehe!
Thanks a lot guys, some great suggestions there! What about the more well-known acoustics/cut-aways like Fender, Yamaha etc? Thinking of getting one of these, but not sure whether its just the name you pay for or if they are in fact all they are cracked up to be? BTW it's looking more like Christmas before I eventually sort myself out now! Doh! hehe!
Had a look, doesn't look to bad ... have you downloaded it yet? How much did it cost?
Thanks buddy, will take a look! I'm not overly fussed about the electrics to be honest, no real desire to play with an amp ... its just that the better cut-aways are all semi acoustic. In my limited search, I have found that the pure acoustic cut-aways are all pretty crap! Please correct me if I'm wrong guys!
Morning! Anyone know of a site that has loads of easy blues licks to add on to simple blues progressions to make em sound a bit better!? Already have a couple out of a book that I am learning to play lead and fingerstyle blues from, but quite limited on decent licks. Any suggestions would be most helpful! Cheers!
Hey Y'all! Have been playing for few months now and looking to upgrade from my current embarrassingly rubbish 'Falcon' guitar that I bought when I first started to something a bit better ("Not hard!" I hear you cry!) My question is two-fold. 1) I'm trying to play some fingerstyle and lead blues and thus need access to the higher frets, but can't find a decent acoustic cut-away; do you know of any!? 2)Failing the above, I have a budget of about £250(ish), would appreciate any guidance on best guitar to get (acoustic or semi)! Any suggestions would be gratefully received! What have you got and why!?
Many thanks my friend. Will check it out!
Cheers Fella! To be honest, I've just been practicing loads of different strumming patterns from t'internet in the hope that some of them fit to songs that I want to play! I have in the past month or two begun to learn fingerstyle blues and blues lead, so strumming patterns is just for my own satisfaction really!
Anyone know where to get hold of a cheap acoustic cutaway!?
Not a bad idea at all my friend! Will have to give that a go. Up til now I have had to resort to simply down strumming with the occasional embellishment to make it sound less 'beginnerish'! Many thanks.
Hey All, Have been playing guitar for a few months now, totally self-taught. While I can use most of the open chords etc, I am having real difficult identifying strumming patterns in music that i like and want to play! Is there anywhere that not only tells you what chords to play, but also shows you the strumming pattern to that particular song!? I want to play!!!
