The best era for music has to be from when the first cave bloke or girl hit the rocks together up until today.  Music constantly evolves but admittedly there's a bit of an eddy at the moment with manufactured images rather than out and out talent.  Then again we do have the Kings Of Leon and ... well Kings Of Leon!  I can't think of another band or artist that quite resonates like they do right now.

Just my twopenn'orth

Billy Bragg here in the UK is spearheading a campaign to get prisoners access to music by asking for music shops/suppliers etc to donate instruments.  The idea behind this is that it may help the inmates to release some of what's inside them -tensions, anxieties, problems etc.  Could be a good thing or... a bleeding heart liberal scheme to make wrongdoers happy roll

Well, he died and I thought... Ok, he's dead but I didn't really like his music.  Then Radio 2 had a tribute show and I was listening to the MJ songs and sang along almost word perfect to almost all of them so maybe he had  a bigger impact on my life than I realised.

I walked back to work on the verge of tears - probably because of a life not wasted but corrupted so far from the norm that none of us can imagine how he felt being him.

By the way Ken I'd have thought you could understand the personal nature of music and how something written from one person's heart can touch the hearts of countless others making the symbiotic connection between the fan and the artist so intense!  Let people mourn how they will, dude roll

The first one I actually remember was Billy Don't Be A Hero by Paper Lace in about '73 when I was 4 or 5.  My parents hated it but loved me so much they bought it for me!!!!!  The fools!

Oh, hang on

Bruce Springsteen's 41 Shots - real powerful!

Cheers Lieven, for another great topic

From the website.....

Greene King's flagship brand Abbot Ale is a favourite with the nation's discerning beer drinker. An iconic beer, Abbot is brewed for longer in a traditional way in order to achieve its world famous distinctive taste.

The secret of Abbot Ale lies not only in its ingredients but the way it is treated along every step of its production, from the arrival of the raw ingredients at the brewery to the cask and beyond.

From myself.............

Before starting your fifth pint put your guitar in a hard case, one that will withstand a thirteen stone idiot falling on it. The idiot will have a silly grin on his face if not indulging in some girlie type laughter.

Couldn't agree more - God bless Wetherspoons cool

My first was (and is) a peavey predator exp plus electric, the only thing that looks good in red!  My wife bought it for me for Christmas one year and it's the best present i ever got!

My son got the same model in black on the same day and quickly learned how to show me up.  2 years on, he saved his christmas money for an Ibanez SAS36FM at £300 but I still play and he can't be bothered so I got the better deal there lol.

I also got a tanglewood electro accoustic from my wife (again) thanks, honey - I love you!  I also bought myself an Ashton 12 string accoustic for when (it's been mentioned before) I want to sound truly hideous wink
